So many misfortunes for Portland. Walton getting injuried and never being the same again after leading the Blazers to their lone title, Sam Bowie picked over Jordan, Sabonis not allowed by the Soviet Union to join the Blazers in his athletic prime, Oden picked over KD, the B-Roy injury and now 4/5 of their starting 5 just left. Man...

Almost the exact same, both came on the heels of a huge play by Houston that virtually sealed a win for them. Roy had .8 seconds, Lillard had .9. Horrible Houston defense prior to the inbound contributed to both, I still think I prefer the Roy version.

@DarianMilliken2192 жыл бұрын
I don’t think many younger kids or people in general today realized how good Brandon Roy was and if it wasn’t for injures how good he could have been. Me being 23, I feel fortunate enough to remember when he came into the league back in 06. Dude could legit do it all and that’s not a joke. I believe if the injuries never derailed his career he would’ve at least delivered Portland one title. If someone super young who knows today’s NBA game really well and see’s this comment in 2022 or beyond and doesn’t know much about Brandon Roy except for a few throwback highlights on KZbin. If there was a player to compare him too in today’s game……… I’d say a more skilled version of Devin Booker with better bounce.
@kyngkai39425 жыл бұрын
Brandon Roy still my favorite 2 guard that never had a chance to hit his peak. He was already a superstar so young in his career and he was humble and a team guy. Beautiful to see him relishing in being a great HS coach and mentor. Simply a great all around guy.

Brandon Roy got 40.5 inch max vert coming into the league listed at 6'6(DraftExpress) Imagine if his talent had never faced those awful injury........ Simply my favourite player!! and this is my 'Couldhaves' team C-Greg Oden (raw giant if healthy) PF-STATS (if healthy) SF-T-MAC (potentially top 10 all-time greats) SG-B-ROY (w/ that 40.5) PG-AI (if he PRACTICE? lol).

@thetruth877310 жыл бұрын
Erick T I assume you mean that they wouldn't have gotten the sixth pick because with Roy their record would be far too high to be in the lottery, but you see, this is all funny because they traded with the Nets for the sixth pick in 2012. The actual trade was as follows, Blazers give: Gerald Wallace Nets give: Mehmet Okur, Shawne Williams, 2012 6th pick, 1st round. The Nets have to be pissed about that major screw up. Basically Gerald Wallace for Damian Lillard. Now, that would never happen, not in a million years.

Roy was so clutch. In the last five minutes of a game it was like he couldn't miss. Underrated handles, could blow by guys and go straight to the rack. A midrange game almost on par with Kobe and Wade, and a better 3pt shooter than either of them. Crazy how Lillard's game is so much like Roy's, and another underrated superstar for Portland who is probably top 3 at his position. Both of them so clutch. Man Roy is only just NOW 36 years old, imagine if those dudes had like 5-8 years of overlap in their careers along with Aldridge. They'd be championship contenders the entire 2010's. Crazy.

Couldn't agree more, when they are totally healthy they have all the tools necessary to be a successful team, a go to scorer in Love, solid rebounders all around centered by Pek and Love, Rubio there to make things happen and take care of the ball, a lockdown perimeter defender in Kirilenko, and a couple of really high energy guys off the bench who can put up points and make plays in Barea and Ridnour and Derrick Williams once in a while.

I think he actually peeked as far as his abilities. He was a 4 year college player and was entering his prime before playing for the Wolves. Dude could do everything offensively. It's a shame, but everyone has a different path in life.

Damn, just thinking what he could've been right now. Probably have a ring and an MVP. The way his career was just taken in one injury made me feel like anything can happen in the nba. It ain't just about making it that's tough, you have to make sure you stay there

One of the greatest SG ever if not for injuries, like sports, does this, every other 5 to 10 years, an athlete shine soon as they step on the field or court put up hall of famer #s and performances then, pow a career changing, or ending injury

Roy's One of the greatest. If he didn't keep getting injured.. sky's the limit. One of my favorite players of All time. He was un stoppuble.
