I love Michael Cooper. I just had to count on my hands to realize I've known him for 40 years. He is as honest, classy, and positive a man is I've ever known. Whenever you walk away from spending time with Coop you just feel better, better about everything...and lucky to count Michael as a friend. Great show and God Bless you, my Brother!

Right? Wtf? They have a statue and/or jersey for every player who contributed to all 5 in a big way. Coop deserves it.

I did not like the Lakers a whole lot back then, (though despised them way worse during the Shaq and Kobe years), due to me being a diehard Blazers fan first, and a Pistons fan 2nd - so im not coming at this from the perspective as a fan. If anything, from someone who hated these dudes, but man Coop was a fuckin phenom. Easily one of the best and most underrated wing defenders in league history and vital part of the Lakers success in the 80's. The only other guy from that era who was a little better at on-ball defense than Coop, who is also as or maybe a little more underrated was Xavier McDaniel. I didn't even know he jersey hadn't been retired yet?! Like, it's already a travesty that he doesn't get the credit/praise he deserved back then as well today by b-ball fans and media in general, but to not even be recognized by his own team like this - is a fuckin crime.

@@truth.74 Completely agree with ya. Portland does similar shit, they still haven't yet retired Jerome Kersey's jersey despite being the second option on that late 80's to early 90's Drexler era where they got to two titles in three years. But then other teams will have a slew of retired numbers. It's also a disservice to younger basketball fan who weren't alive to see these teams and see them as being Clyde's Blazers team, or Jordan's Bulls team, Magic and Kareem's Lakers team, or Bird's Celtics, and all the guys who were great role players or even considered to be stars in the league at that time, just not super-stars, they seem to be forgotten. Whether it's Jerome Kersey, Kevin Duckworth, Terry Porter, Cliff Robinson, and Buck Williams for Portland, Pippen, Horace Grant, Bill Cartwright, BJ Armstrong, Kukoc, and Ron Harper for the Bulls, or Dennis Johnson, Robert Parish, or AC Green, Norm Nixon, Tony Campbell, Worthy, and Cooper for the Lakers - all those guys were far more important collectively for why they were great teams than their transcendent super-stars who get all the glory, it's sad.

Coop was always a favorite of mine and Nixon was so fast. Stormin Norman cracks me up cuz the only time i'd worry his shot wasnt gonna go in is if went straight up on a jumper. Cuz normally Norm was going up atta 30-45 degree angle from the floor and they were always going in. Kinda hanging sideways in the air and wop wop wop and swish swish swish. In the 80s n 90s L A was my team , going back to Wilt n West as a young child. Thanks for the memories , fellas.

I dont know why the Lakers and Magic doesnt like Winning Time. Sure it was dramatized alot but alot are true and the show is amazing. The only person who should be upset is Jerry West. I am amazed on how they cast a guy who look almost like Coop and can actually act. Nixon got his son to do it so it is kind of like Ice Cube letting his son play him so they do look alike but the casting of Magic, Kareem and Cooper is right on.

@@tonymack2380 It’s not a biopic. The show wouldn’t be that interesting, especially to non Laker fans, if it was all factual about them. It is factual about the games and scores. What the show does have is great acting and entertainment. I’m a Lakers fan since 1980, and enjoy it thoroughly. It has great drama too. I understand what is not real about the characters, and most of it is obvious.

Great talent. Plenty of tools in the tool box. Not too many people can start for the Lakers. But Nixon could. He could do it All! Including play stifling defense. But the game was changing or evolving. Teams were experimenting with these taller guards to put extreme pressure on the opposing teams back court. Perhaps Stormin Norman just got caught in a numbers game. Who knows. But he was so good that he should go into the Hall of Fame as a Laker. Enjoy your retirement. A true NBA professional......
