Kawhi scored 732 points in that 2019 playoff run, 3rd all time behind only MJ '92 and Bron '18, and though I grant he needed 2 more games (24) to get there it's still impressive given the added context another historic player, Charles Barkley, who is 14 on that same list also played in 24 playoff games during his '93 playoff run--Kawhi outscored him by nearly 100 points (94 to be exact). Unless you think Demar Derozan would have had have an all time playoff run--an ability he has never shown prior--it's impossible to believe he would've won that chip. I like Demar, but there's no way the Bucks or 76ers lose to the Raptors if he's the best player on that team.

Big fan of Demar's game, BUT the disrespect on Kawhi Leonard is disappointing. This narrative that Stephen A is pushing - that the Raptors "just had a Demar" replacement discounts the all time great postseason that Kawhi had in 2019. This isn't to say that Kawhi's Raptors would've beat Lebron, but you can't just assume he would've lost. Kawhi beat Philly with Embiid, prime Ben Simmons and Jimmy Butler. Then he beat MVP Giannis after going down 0-2. Then, he beat the Warriors. AND BEFORE YOU SAY THEY DIDN'T HAVE KD AND KLAY, keep in mind, Klay Thompson averaged 38 minutes and 26 ppg in 5 out of 6 Finals games. Yes, KD wasn't there. But Kawhi and the Raptors beat a mostly healthy Klay, Steph and Draymond that year.

This doesn't change anything regarding that. He's taking HB's role because Keegan's not completely ready yet to be a secondary scorer. By the time he is, Derozan will be on his way out, hopefully on a high note. It's actually a really smart move. Hopefully, he can help Keegans development like Fox has. Derozans a much better passer than Hb as well, so I think they will have more opportunity to play off each other.
