Love seeing someone using youtube the way it should be done. Happy dead dad day. I lost my dad 8 years ago now. Like you say youve got to stay happy and positive or it isnt long before you are heading for a dark place.

Nick, because your using the full CAT5 cable you could use the two remaining pairs to hardwire the charger rather than connecting over WiFi. It'll only be a 100 Mbps connection rather than 1 Gbps when you use all 4 pairs but plenty fast enough for the charger. Just something to know going forward should you ever need to fit a charger further away

Fair play , would be the same with siblings and parents, everyone else don't as it often ends up badly. I wouldn't ask a cousin to do something for less than full market rate and tbh just knowing someone who is professional , competant and reliable these days is worth so much more than any cash discount .

Here I'm the USA bit that's my favorite step stool. Im 6"4 and don't need much help reaching light fixture and ceiling but it makes things much more comfortable. I also have a size 14 shoe us and that's one of the few stools I don't feel cramped on. Also since we had a few ladders and work platforms collapse on us (280lbs big boy) any stool or ladder we use has to be IAA 375lbs rated or it goes in the trash. It's a company rule now safety first! Glad someone enjoys that step stool as much as I do.

Great video as always. Question on the Fusebox CU. I know you didn’t fit the board but the rcbo’s appear to be the taller version which are single pole (unless they have changed them) I don’t do anything with solar but shouldn’t they be on double pole rcbo’s the same as ev equipment. Also will be interesting to see what happens when amd 3 comes in, how many rcbo’s are bidirectional now or will that be another cost for another version of rcbo.

I get that everyone is working from home these days, but honestly I just don't find this 'I can't turn the power off' acceptable. As a customer, it doesn't matter what the trade is, but if they're in my home doing work, I arrange my day so that the electricity/water/whatever can be turned off or disturbed. It's a very limited window, and I want the contractor to be safe, and almost as important, do their best work. The idea that someone could or Would do their best work for you while going through hoops is just ridiculous to me. I'm going to make it as easy as possible for the person to do what they need to do. Even if it does nothing but put them in a better mood, I'm pretty sure I'm coming out ahead. Not getting the best electrical or plumbing work you can because it's slightly inconvenient to rearrange a few things seems the very definition of penny wise, pound foolish. 😂

If they end up switching onto the Octopus Intelligent Go EV tariff then they’ll probably not be able to avoid the battery draining into the car during any of the smart slots. The avoid drain setting won’t really work for that. Edit: just watched the end of the video. Fast charging outside of whenever the battery is set to charge from the grid is going to drain the battery, all the Zappi can do to try and avoid it is reduce the charge rate which isn’t going to be what you want.

As for charging family and friends. Family is free they just pay for materials but they know it gets done when I have time. Parents for example I will know months in advance when they are on holiday and do things then when they are out the way. Friends (close ones) it depends. If it's a quick job just some food down the pub. If it's a day it's food down the pub and they can pay to fill the van up on the way back so maybe £100 of diesel. For friends of friends or their mate from work etc I usually just say I'm too busy as I don't want to insult them by charging them full price.

@BackFlippingBaldi23916 ай бұрын
The solar circuit can't be protected by a non bidirectional RCBO, unfortunately fusebox RCBO'S are not bidirectional, I check with them. This is all in the IET code of practice for solar, they are doing a regs amendment very soon, also if the solar is installed with other circuits the main switch would probably need to be upgraded to 125A or have a switch fuse isolator before the DB at 80A, hope this helps, most PV installs out there are non compliant unfortunately

Family I typically provide labour free and charge cost price for any materials, for friends it depends on the person but normally I'll work for food and drink! (charge for materials though!) The way I see it is if I have the time to spare it doesn't cost me anything and for most people I'll happily help out, not looking to gain from friends and family as long as I'm not losing out by doing it
