Love Parker but she's on such a different level than virtually all of these other runners that it's kind of boring to watch her just run a "safe" race like this. It would be SO much more interesting and entertaining to watch her just bolt from the start and force anyone with half a mind to podium to chase after her--thus stringing out the entire field and blowing up the race... then maybe backing it down a hair once 95% of the group are done and dusted and then cruising to victory. Professional road cycling has become more like that lately as one or two teams of been dominating races--forcing riders on other teams to go hard off the front much earlier if they want to have any chance of winning. Those are the funnest races to watch. But no doubt she is other-worldly in her abilities.

Someone educate me, why are lapped runners not required to yield to the leaders? It causes unnecessary chaos when the insider runner gets pinched into traffic.
@davezak58707 ай бұрын
It's because lapped runners don't have eyes in the back of their heads. It's impossible for them to accurately tell when to move out of the way. The worst thing that could happen is that the lapped runner misjudges the overtake and moves outside right into the path of the passing runner, or judges it accurately for the first passing runner, but doesn't realize there is a second or third or fourth passing runner and moves back to the inside right in front of one of them who thought the lapped runner was "yielding" to them. It's usually much safer for the lapped runners to not be moving out and in and out and in.
