Watching this again, I noticed in the 1st inning when Pickering was at bat, in the background, you can see the UCLA coach trying to get the attention of their outfielders, motioning for them to move in position. It’s clear there’s an issue in this as he keeps waving. Next thing you see is the pitcher slightly signaling that there’s a problem (supposedly with her receiving of pitch info) and the umpire calls timeout. She wasn’t watching the coach, she was looking at the pitch-calling device on her wrist. Makes you wonder if there is a code used by teams for stalling the game. Never thought about it before but it would make sense-and be very helpful. Just signal to your team through those devices and get a time-out called by the ump without officially asking for it; thereby not using up one of the allotted allowed. A player could fake a bug in their eye or something else an umpire would notice and respond to. Clever! Or, it could have just been a coincidence-especially given Pickering was walked on four balls. 🤫😉

Soccer. 1-0... 😢 Need to move mound back at least 5 ft. Bases too. Fences maybe 20.
