Fun fact: The original Toy Story 2 was completely deleted on accident but luckily one of the supervising technical directors had an extra copy of the film so she could work on it while at home taking care of her newborn. If it wasn’t for her we would probably have never gotten Toy Story 2 or at least not for a long time.

This actually reminds me of a similar movie that had a sadder fate- Foodfight. The original movie was apparently stolen, and sadly the movie was not saved anywhere else. The Foodfight we have now was created in an extremely short time period on an extremely short budget, and is actually so low quality that someone recorded and uploaded the whole movie to KZbin and (as far as I know) haven’t even received a copyright claim, as nobody seems to care about it.

fun fact: the star trek fandom began by various fans of the ship captain kirk/spock getting together, doing zines, comics, poems, fanart, conventions... and that was the first fandom in history, starting the term slash for shipping, and having the first fanfics ever, mostly all gay ones. so the lgbt community is indeed very important in fandom culture!!

Technically, one of the first fandoms with written fiction was a group of women who wrote Mercutio x Benvolio fanfic (yes, the Shakespeare play boys). But because they were a "ladies' book club," history forgot them.

Yes... but I'd modify it. The fandom didn't exactly start from Kirk/Spock fic-ing. But It definitely was an important bonding agent helping indirectly congeal the existing nerd, geek and "Q" fans together. It wasn't the only one, but considering how many Fan 'Zines came out of it and helped support more, and how people existing in the margins want to meet others with similar thought patterns...it definitely had a role to play.

it's not quite for storage actually, bird lungs work very differently and the air sac system helps to direct air so that air only actually flows in one direction through the lungs (which is much more efficient) instead of our two way system, and they also help to cool off the body!

As my back was turned, the other crow decides to yell “Hi!” as loud as he could and give me quite the scare. I think the crow’s silence until that point was him plotting his scheme.

My fun fact: Corset time! Corsets weren't as restrictive as media frames them to be. Corsets were almost always custom made to fit the person, and had to be "broken in" like a pair of Doc martens. Also, tight lacing like you often see in the movies was only really done for parties, the rest of the day ladies wouldn't lace up their corsets as tight. Furthermore, Corsets weren't just to achieve a desirable shape, they served more like bra's do now, to distribute the weight if the bust, and people who wear (actual high quality, custom made, broken in) corsets now report that they do so very well. Women of all classes wore corsets, also lower class working ladies, so yes, corsets were comfortable enough to wear out in the fields, and they were worn basically everywhere you'd wear a bra to now. The reason actors in period pieces often say corsets are very uncomfortable is because the movie studios often don't have the time, money, or skills, to get a custom tailored corset for all the actors who would need to wear them, AND let them break their corsets in. Also they often prioritize the corsets making the actors look good over them being comfortable. Anyways, that was my infodump about corsets :]

Fun fact! The artifacts that were previously thought to be the oldest examples of “knitted” fabric were actually constructed through a completely different, much older technique- one that does not unravel when damaged! One of the most common names for it is “nalbinding” or “needle-binding”, which has been passed down through the generations in Iceland and worked using the thumb as a gauge. However, there are versions of this looping form of textile construction from all over the world! One only needs a single needle and a length of yarn or string, though I have also used seaweed and it is likely that humanity’s ancestors also used plant fibers or hair for their constructions.

Fun fact besties Pigeons' poop isn't supposed to be this liquid icky mess that we see everywhere in cities, their poop is supposed to be pretty solid. The only reason it isn't is because they don't have access to the right food, aka mainly small seeds, in a good amount. Possibly not that fun of a fact but still an interesting fact, at least in my opinion. Birds are one of my hyperfixations or special interests, can't really tell which but I do know I love them a lot and am really interested in them, especially pigeons and corvids. I have been feeding my local pigeons for maybe a couple months or so now? Many of them feel comfortable sitting on my arms, hands, sometimes shoulders, or if I have a shoulder bag etc etc. They are adorable little rascals. Anyways the thing is that their poop has started becoming more solid! They unfortunately shit on me sometimes- however a few times recently it has not only brought be the normal icky feeling but also joy because it means that their diet is becoming more healthy! So hey, if you need something to get you out and about more often try feeding your local birds. I started this spring with the crows at our local graveyard and it's the most rewarding experience ever, only downside is that it sometimes makes everything else in life feel incredibly bland in comparison. Nothing beats befriending and earning the trust of animals you admire to me. Plus sometimes it's just the thing you need since regular human relationships are so complicated.

Fun Fact number 1 (that's right bitches two for the price of one): when Pirates of the Caribbean Dead Men Tell No Tales was being made they originally had a completely different actor playing Salazar (I forget _exactly_ who) but he dropped out due to scheduling conflicts, when Javier Bardem joined the film to replace them the writers had to rewrite a decent chunk of Salazar's backstory due to the fact that, no matter how much they could try to hide it Javier Bardem has a very noticeable Spanish accent instead of just being a captain in the British navy, like most other side characters in the Caribbean films, they changed the characters origin to the Spanish armada and the rest is history Fun fact number 2: the original Super Mario Bros for the NES could only render 3 colours per sprite so despite looking like he has 4 colours in his sprite this is a trick Bowser has played on all of us the forth colour (namely Black) comes from the backdrop of the levels you fight him in and if you where to hack the game to put him anywhere else all the black parts for his sprite would change the backdrop of THAT level

Which means that if you can find a gender that doesn’t already “exist” and you can coin it, you can create a flag for it. And everyone sees you as the one that “created that gender”. If you document it, you could be remembered as “that person that coined that gender”. How do people not see how cool this is! like a gender can be related to almost anything, that’s so many genders.

Fun Fact that's pretty commonly known, but I enjoy talking about it anyway: Being left-handed was 'frowned upon' even as recently as the mid-20th century, because of this a lot of older left-handed people became ambidextrous. Some children would even have their left hand tied around their back, and even be hit for using their dominant hand, also in some countries, left-handedness was illegal and was punishable as a crime.
@velociraptorhijinks7279
@velociraptorhijinks7279 2 жыл бұрын
Another fun fact off of this one :)! One remnant of left-handedness being seen as bad is actually the word “sinister” it comes from the Latin word for left hand (which I can’t remember off the top of my head). A Romans toga would always cover their left arm/hand and their right hand would be bare because you used your left hand to wipe after you go to the bathroom.
@coolmathgames_hater4491
@coolmathgames_hater4491 2 жыл бұрын
Are you thinking of sinestra? "Ambisinistrous" is also a word that exists, but because of right-hand dominance, being "left on both sides" is usually a term for being clumsy (such as "having two left feet"). Also it can be incredibly painful to perform tasks with your right hand (who would've thought! /sarcastic). I decided to draw with my right hand once and could not think properly for the rest of the day.

Five fun facts about cats from an autistic guy who wants to share his cat-facts! Fun fact 1:Cats have three eyelids on each eye. One on top, one on the bottom and a translucent one in the corner of their eye. Fun fact 2: Cats don’t always land on their feet, HOWEVER, If falling from a reasonable height, a cat can sense it’s position in the air and right themselves. They can also spread out their Legs in order to catch the air and lessen their fall damage. This doesn’t mean a cat won’t get hurt from high falls, though. Fun fact 3: Male cats have a barb on the tip of their…. Schlong. Yup. It hooks when doing the “reproduction limbo” and it kinda explains why the cat on the receiving end can get so… vocal. Fun fact 4: Cats have backwards-facing barbs on their tongue! That’s why it feels like sandpaper. The barbs act as a brush for the cat, however fur will catch on and end up being swallowed, hence *hairballs*. That is why it’s dangerous for a cat to attempt to eat things like yarn, because it may get stuck on the barbs, making it difficult to get out of the mouth. Obviously, a cat shouldn’t be eating yarn, but you get the idea. Fun fact 5: (usually) Cats like small, tight spaces! If your cat keeps heading for a box, or under a bed, or between couch cushions, it’s seeking a comfortable spot in which to sleep! Bags, holes, drawers, if your cat can fit, it’ll probably go there. They can go in such small places because of their bone and skeletal structure. Their bones are not so locked into place like ours, they can stretch and squeeze far easier than us and certain other animals, like dogs. If anyone has more cat facts, please share! I wanna hear them 😄

as someone who has guinea pigs, and has had them their whole life I can confirm this!!! they're very socialable animals (like many others), and need a friend or else they can get moody, depressed, or aggressive! and if you introduce a new piggie to ones that have basically grown up together, it won't end well, because while they are socialable, they're also territorial! (speaking from experience on this part xD) all in all, if you have/want piggies, make sure to have at least two, and adopt don't shop!! lots of piggies get turned over!

Yo I'm up for hearing all your info on that one! I know the alpha/beta study in wolves that they all referenced was a dud and focused on a matriarchal family as opposed to a pack fighting for dominance, but I'd love to hear the rest
@gmcnabb174
@gmcnabb174 2 жыл бұрын
@@justaperson4656 id love to share! basically the original wolf dominance study from 1922 focused on wolf behavior in captivity, where the wolves had to compete for limited resources, and that’s where the idea of a wolf dominance hierarchy(alpha/beta/gamma/omega) came about. but in 1999, another study was done and essentially disproved this, finding that in the wild, wolves don’t compete for dominance at all and instead work in family groups. the whole dominance hierarchy was only present in the original study because the wolves were placed in captivity for the purposes of the research. the debunked 1922 study’s use of “alpha” and “beta” as the names of the wolf groups studied(they also used gamma and omega as categories i’m pretty sure?) is what sparked the whole “alpha male” concept which has been in popular culture for a pretty long time. (funny enough the study is also is the reason for omegaverse fan fiction culture which is a whole other wormhole lol) but the concept of the “sociosexual hierarchy” was first introduced in a 2011 blog post by vox day(scary alt-right guy, very unpleasant human being to say the least) where he listed 7 different “male archetypes”(alpha, beta, delta, gamma, omega, sigma, and lambda), ordered by each group’s average number of lifetime sexual partners(it’s funny because he literally gives no evidence or sourcing for any of this it’s just him saying shit). the post seemed to have gained some traction because in 2017, a book called “the sigma male: what women really want” was published which talked about the sigma archetype that vox day coined in his original post. im pretty sure that’s what influenced the obsession with sigma males in recent years on youtube and stuff in “men’s rights”/redpill spaces. so basically it’s a story that’s partly about misinformation and pop science and partly about alt-right internet assholes just completely making shit up and calling it fact.

FUNFACT: the human ear distorts the signal when sound gets too loud, like a crappy small speaker that you turn up too much, and our brain interprets more distorted audio as louder to a degree without you actually percieving it as distortion, so if an audiophile or "Pro"-audio-engineer ever bitch to you about music being "not dynamic enough" and show you an image of the songs waveform, with it looking completely flat as opposed to old music which looks spiky, remember that you are able to percieve dynamics in your brain that aren't even in the file anymore via an auditory illusion, so it's never as bad as it looks, (most) audio engineers have just become more efficiant with their usage of the canvas they paint on.

TW for slightly dark and a bit morbid Fun fact: In the world of early Victorian medicine, doctors were often not seen in a good light! Our lack of medical knowledge paired with little to no anesthetics left many doctors getting desensitized to other people's emotions and/or pain. In a more extreme case of this, some medical students would play around with the cadavers. Amputated limbs were hidden in random places around the school! An example of this is when a young boy peeked into a window of a classroom (I can't remember the name, only that it was in England) and was spotted by a student who was doing something with a cadaver. The student smiled at the boy, and raised the amputated arm of the body in a wave! Fun fact: The 80's toy Teddy Ruxpin works by feeding the right track of the cassette tape (audio) to the speakers and the left track (animation signals) to the motors. The animation signals are tones that are processed as sort of an on/of switch that tells what part to move when and for how long. This was extremely advanced technology for a children's toy at the time, as it had only been seen at places like Disneyworld/Disneyland and family entertainment restaurents like Showbiz Pizza and Chuck E. Cheese's. These types of robots are called audio animatonics, both because they're synced up to audio and are controlled by it. Fun Fact: Scrub jays are one of the only animals to plan things for what they'll want in the future. For instance, they've been known to find and hide the food that they want to eat in the morning as a breakfast. This means that they can plan their lunches!

fun fact! the difference between moths and butterflies is entirely cultural, and there’s no feature that can taxonomically split lepidoptera into two clean groups. day-flying vs night-flying? many moths, particularly ones capable of feeding in adulthood, fly during the day, with several hawk moths being good, recognizable examples (particularly the ones that are more commonly referred to as “hummingbird moths”). wing position? see the lampeto metalmark for an example. antennae shape? while butterflies more typically have bulbed antennae, not all moth antennae are feathery, with many having slender, pointed antennae. primarily why they’re still seen as different is how many languages and cultures have separate words and superstitions for each group, with words and superstitious synonymous with butterflies tend to be applied to colourful, slender lepidopterans with bulb-tipped antennae.

continued: another fascinating feature is that the mane of “fluff” that many lepidopterans have over their thorax (the part the legs attach to) is actually the same structure as the scales on their wings, both called “setae”. the ones on the wings are highly specialized, and catch air in ways that aid their flight, as well as colours that are made to blend in, or to scare off predators, or even to warn of their poisonous body (more scientifically referred to as “aposematism”) (take monarch butterflies for example, which are poisonous thanks to the milkweed their caterpillars feed on)

Hamilton fun facts uuhh fun fact #1: in Hamilton at the end of "I know him", King George laughs, like, super maniacally because King George actually died from insanity after the American Revolution. oh fun fact #2: in "My shot" the chord progression(?idk) in the back shows that Hamilton is ambitious and doesn't want to take his time, but in "Wait for it" the chord progression(i really don't know if that's what it's called) shows that Burr is willing to, well, wait for it. fun fact #3: during Burr and Hamilton's duel, Hamilton threw away his shot and Burr didn't wait for it. it's pretty ironic compared with the last fun fact. IH ALSO FUN FACT #4: THE COVER OF HAMILTON IS NOT JUST SOME GUY STANDING ON TOP OF A STAR, IT IS ALEXANDER HAMILTON STANDING ON TOP OF THAT STAR HOLDING HIS PISTOL TO THE SKY, BECAUSE HE AIMED HIS PISTOL AT THE SKY WHEN BURR SHOT HIM. I WAS MIND-BLOWN WHEN I FOUND THIS OUT. fun fact #5: Eliza is the only character in Hamilton who doesn't rap, like at all. last fact(maybe): "Best of wives, best of women" is the only song where Hamilton and Eliza see eye to eye. They both say exactly 36 words and they were actually married for 36 years🥲🤘

11:00 I got floored when I heard a one-to-one story I have, where I literally canceled a therapy appointment because I didn't know where my keys were, while wearing the coat I was wearing, with the keys in the top breast pocket, and got burnt out trying to find them to the point where I just sat back called them and said I was sick I know I have ADHD, probably autism, and it's honestly nice but also frightening to know the other people have experienced (in this case exactly what) What similar thought processes and situations to me

The last tiktok (about fun facts) reminds me of how a few years ago on vacation, I had a habit of randomly sharing very disturbing facts (I still do this btw) and, to make it less awkward for the people around me who couldn't think of anything to say, I would follow the fact up with "that's the fun fact of the day" so that they didn't really need to respond

in regards to the vestibular dysfunction thing: i think for me it might be a combination of both! on one hand i stim by fidgeting, leg bouncing, rocking, etc. but on the other hand sometimes i’ll just get up & start walking around or dancing for no reason just bc i need that stimulation; i also like jumping off of stuff just bc it’s fun but i also CANNOT go on rollercoasters bc like they said, i will literally feel everything in my stomach moving (it’s similar for when we’re driving & we go down a steep hill too fast; i can feel my stomach drop when that happens). i also really like sitting in hammocks & rocking chairs just bc that repetitive motion is soothing for me…makes my brain feel all fuzzy

Fun fact: The original stages used in Greek and Roman theaters were performed outside on a downwards slope to give a larger illusion of distance to make the actors seem farther away from each other yet still in the audience’s views. This is still used today but in indoor theaters, shows like Wicked have raked stages for the same use ancient theaters had with hills. It’s nice to look at but it honestly sucks for the actors that act as a character in a wheelchair.

6:42 this really interested me, when i was like, 7 i used to run around a lot, jump everywhere and hang off of things and people a lot, so my parents thought i had ADHD, but the medication didn't work so they just guessed that i was just super hyper, this kinda sounds like me, with the constant jumping moving and the want to move. i'm not saying that i am autistic but if i was it would explain a few things, but i genuinely don't know, have a lovely day

Fun Fact! Koalas would make for great partners in crime, because they have fingerprints that are almost identical to human ones, so if you have a pet koala, just get them to touch all the pieces of evidence, because the police will have trouble figuring out the identity of the perpetrator, because the fingerprints would not match any person

Fun fact: Humans are incapable of feeling wet. We do not have the sensors in our skin to detect wetness, we just feel a change in texture and temperature which is why if you leave a shirt outside to dry you can't tell if it's wet or just cold. Side note: for a show built around fun facts I recommend The Unbelievable Truth on BBC radio, though it's also available on youtube and audible.

Fun Fact in pokemon gold and silver the Odd Egg gift has a whopping 1/64 chance of hatching a shiny as opposed to the standard eggs 1/8192 . . . . . cw oversharing about my adhd bc I am a GAMER/// see I got the fun little opposite problem of the adhd "being late to everything and you have to lie about things so you dont go over your allotted Late To Things number" thing where I show up to everything way the fuck too early bc I spent all my late to things for dumb reasons points as a kid and now my rsd centers almost purely around being late to things/being a "flake" and thats how we get me sitting in my car in front of my friends house when she isn't even *AWAKE YET* bc if I am late my brain thinks I will be kicked out of the tribe and unable to get enough food to survive if I am even so much as a minute late
