I am so glad to see a video on a Pharm.D., many people do not give enough credit to pharmacists and that needs to change! True medical experts that advise physicians on the best drug to treat the patient and protect the patient's health. Pharmacists are extremely knowledgeable healthcare providers. As a student pharmacist, I am so glad to see a representation of our profession.

Been watching your series for quite some time now - it's so wonderful to see you feature a pharmacist. As a pharmacist myself (I am currently not practicing it, however I am still in healthcare) it absolutely warms my heart to see someone speak with such passion about the importance of it. This is making me miss my days in pharmacy school, especially during my clinical rotations - you learn so much about yourself during this time period. This pharmacist is not only extremely knowledgeable but also is so kind and passionate about her students. Anyone would be lucky to have her as their preceptor = )

I don’t understand why physicians just don’t stop with a diagnosis and let pharmacologists and pharmacist decide which drug in which formulation has to be prescribed for it and actually have right to prescribe it. Since medics are not the experts of drugs they don’t even understand fully the difference between ibuprofen, diclofenac, nimesulide in terms of cox ratio inhibition. Especially in neuropsychopharmacology there should be a pharmacologist to manage therapies not medics, they should just diagnose and check up. Not givin drugs.
@coolstoryg_41845 ай бұрын
Good point but to be fair, I think there are egos at play and that would be too much for MDs to “share” a patient. They always call in saying “my patient this” “my patient that” as it is.

Because md’s dont have time for that. Theyre accurate 90% of the time, and the 10% when theyre wrong with dosing/drugs the pharmacist will call it out. Done, thats it. No need to include the pharmacist from step 1

If you asked me the biggest con of pharmacy is that if you decide to commit even more time and increasing debt interest to residency/fellowship, you make the same or less vs retail pharmacists who just need the PharmD, and the clinical jobs aren’t as readily available. Maybe things will change over time.

You can easily tell, she is a GREAT educator. Look at the passion with which she explains and elaborates. If only we had professionals like her in our corrupt medical schools and my country's medical education system. My number one suggestion to you: spend a few days in a retail pharmacy. Maybe even get your tech license before going to pharmacy school. The chaos of customers, insurance, and phone calls is not for everyone, and there's not enough hospital positions to go around.

All respects to pharmacists and I am aware this is to bring awareness to their profession, but I believe some recognition to Pharmacy Technicians is necessary as in the majority of settings Pharmacists need them to carry out tasks of running the pharmacy in most settings. Some examples are the Vanco is dosed by a pharmacist but it’s made by an IV technician 9 times out of 10. The outpatient scrips are filled by technicians. The “Vending machine” like drug dispensers are almost always restocked by Technicians. Etc…
