Just what i have been looking for. I was really struggling with the ratios of the ingredients. Next is what oil is a good oil for soap making, since theres quite a lot thats being mentioned and it confuses me.

Kindly tell us the amount of kaolin powder and sodium silicate in bar soap

Sodium silicate will harden the soap, you can consider about 1% of the total mass of the soap. Means 10 ml of sodium silicate for every 1 Kg of your Bar Soap. Regards.

He'llo brother from SA I like your videos it's educative about soap making please I use to produce 5kg of bar soap I know want to increase it to 7kg my calculations are as follows 1 litres of palm kernel oil 2.5 litres of bleached palm oil 2litres of water and 75 grms of sodium silicate 10 ml of EDTA should I increase the oils or which additives should I use thanks.

It looks like too much water for me too. However and as my brother explained, I think it makes some sense with some oils especially palm oil even though I find three liters of water too much for 333g of lye. I will try it for experiment but I think 1lts or 1.5 would be the ideal. I did palm oil soap following the water : lye ratio on the calculator and it came out dried instantly before finishing mixing and not all the oil got the water and lye. I have been making soaps for years but I am still leaning and making mistakes as each oil reacts differently which also affects the outcome of the soaps (soft, too soft, hard, breaking hard etc).

you can also consider this Ratio, it works very well: *Water = 5 Litres; *Caustic Soda Flakes = 1 Kg; *Palm Kernel Oil = 5 Litres. Do them on Cold Process and make sure the trace is reached. Regards.

Sorry to get involved. A hot process can be used as soon as you are done because you cooked it and killed the chemical in the caustic soda whereas the cold process must be left to cure for at least 4/8 weeks before used. Both methods are good and safe if done properly. I saw a video that said the cold process can be used after three days since the saponification occurs and is complete in three days. However, this is for personal use (I do use them after three days and it's fine) but if you are selling the soaps, let it cure for two to three months if you live in a hot country. Hope this helps
