Not all North part of India is Hindi speaking... They have different mother tongues - Punjabi, Marathi, Gujarathi, Assamese, Marwadi, Bhojpuri, Kashmiri, Bengali, Odia, Pahari, Haryanavi, Nagamese, etc etc etc.... Yes I agree few states have Hindi as a Mother tongue. But that number is small. & that also result of breaking big states like up, bihar in multiple states! So point is not all North part of India has hindi as their mother tongue. So how will all Indians speak? Should we learn Language from South part of India? But which? It also has 4 languages - Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Malyalam. I respect all languages but it is true that all north learn hindi in addition to their mother tongue to communicate to whole India... What is use of Hindi to South indian. Literally zero. Most of the time North Indian are migrating to south for better opportunities. Someone from North India who is unemployed because his state can't give him opportunities is coming to our state just to make him comfortable we are not going to learn Hindi. Telling south indian to learn Hindi is like tenant dictating his rules and regulations on house owner. If you want link language then English is better choice than Hindi. Learning English will be beneficial for both south as well as North Indians. It will give better opportunities in foreign countries. North Indians want all south indian to learn Hindi while they will sit without learning anything or without making any effort.

3 LANGUAGE POLICY IS ALSO AN “INDIRECT” IMPOSITION Assume that in South, a school kid is asked to choose 3 languages and if he/she chose Mother tongue, English and 3rd language Do you think the school will hire teacher for just 1 or two kids who opted those 3rd language (Gujarati, Marathi, Etc.) ? Kids will be forced to learn Hindi so it is an INDIRECT IMPOSITION 3 language policy is not needed in schools. If those who want to learn 3rd language let them learn outside school. Keeping only 2 languages Mother Tongue and Link language (English). Learning Mother tongue and Hindi is not going to get one a job in South who is working with workers who know local language and English. English is needed because some companies do international dealings (economy growth) for which English is mandatory Now, if Central ministers really want 3 language policy... then LEAD BY EXAMPLE. Let Central ministers learn to read/write English and one of the south Indian languages first. People whose mother tongue is in Devanagari script (Northern states) CAN easily learn Hindi People whose mother tongue is in Dravidian script (Southern states) CANNOT easily learn Hindi. Hence as a part of 3 language policy, north state school should make one of the Dravidian languages mandatory. This will bring equality of India’s great classical languages across India.

I don't suppose that any South Indian can make their stay in North even for a day without having to understand and speak Hindi. Let's all understand that every language is unique and sweet.
