I speak 5 Languages, my mother tongue is Malayalam. I can speak Tamil, Kannada, English and Hindi fluently. I chose to learn these languages and nobody can force anyone in this whole wide world to learn a language that they don't want and dont need to. Nurses from Kerala learn Telugu in two weeks when they migrate to Andhra for jobs or training, but people from hindi belt don’t learn Telugu even after twenty years of stay in Andhra. All South Indians learn and adopt local languages when they migrate to other states. Thank God I never needed Hindi in my life.

Nurses have to learn Telugu because they don’t know Hindi or because they interact with hospital patients who are majorly Telugu - their job demands that. When my Malayalee grandmother was admitted in an hospital ICU in Maharashtra while she was visiting her kids and taken for tests she had no clue how to communicate with the nurses and doctors there as she knew only Malayalam. So we need to think logically and not get emotional on this

Nurses and doctors have to seek help from family members or use technological tools like google to translate between different languages. Very few can master multiple languages. If any one intends to stay for long periods then they should try to learn the local language . I use google translator when I need. Not perfect but serves my purpose. Thanks

Nurses learn telugu because they are working in the respective state. In that place why so they need to learn hindi? If she is working in New Delhi then she will learn Hindi. If you are living in one of the south Indian states then please start talking in that language. Business men pickup local dialect. It is more for survival not out of love or to enrich the language. Im proud Indian, A Proud Marathi I respect every language bcoz its our identity from where we belong. OUR country is divided into different States based on respectable individual state's Language and Culture. If wevare away from home into diff. state Its our responsibility to respect their language at that palce n time. Suggestion can be made but compulsion to speak in only one language is not a soln. Prakash sir is absolutely right on this matter. Malayalam is my mother tongue but I am also fluent in English l, Tamil, Kannada, Hindi, French and Mandarin. None of these languages were forced upon me. I am proud to say I studied these languages because I wanted to. Desh ki izzat karte hain isliye, unity in diversity main vishwas bhi rakhte hain. I have studied in both cbse and state schools in multiple states. Tumhe kya padaya Gaya tha woh toh main nahi jaanta. But nowhere in the constitution does it say Hindi is the national language. Aur Tamil log kyu de Hindi ko itna importance. Wahan Tamil bhi ek language hain jo Sanskrit se bhi purana language hain. Bharat main har region main unique language hain ab unko sab superimpose karne ka koi hakk nahi hai kisi ko bhi. Har language uski apni way main khoobsurat hain. Jo tum other states ki baat kar rahe ho wahan kya or kaise padaya jata hai to pata nahi. But most states in india have a 3 language course in school. No need to read any further into that. Instead of beating around the bush, why don't you show me an excerpt from constitution of India where it says Hindi is a national language. Kabhi NCERT ka naam suna hai. Kabhi yeh bhi teek se pad liya hota toh har baat pe Google ke database par depend karne ka naubat nahi aati. Desh ke gadhi ke toh non hindi prime minister bhi teh.
