My wife and I have been really enjoying your videos. You fish some great places that look so peaceful and that kayak is a fab bit of kit! I’d love to have a kayak and do what you do but there’s nothing like the expanse of waterways in the uk that you have over there. Nothing that would be as remote and peaceful any ways and there’s just way too many people per square acre to be able to fully escape the sound of the rat race! So watching your videos with your nice chilled out voice is like a kinda therapy 😊 Keep em coming man they’re excellent!!!!

Glad you got an immediate response from the fish. They may be moving over to wintering spots but that's a great lure choice. Fish a lot of ultralight and light lures on lighter gear. Crickhopper is an old favorite. It's a subtle but equal opportunity offender to the fish. Good video again

HA! That's awesome. Big Rat lure, large bird lure, or a small Crickhopper Popper... doesn't matter. Still gonna catch 17 - 20 inch Smallmouth and Largemouth bass. Just like retail! Location, location, location! ...Funny thing. I have at least 2 of those same lures in my arsenal. The pond I was fishing a lot had a fish kill two summers ago, and I had purchased it prior to that to try and pop some bigger bluegills, small bass and maybe even a few aggressive Crappie. I had one tied on once or twice AFTER the fish kill but never even got a hit. I haven't even tried them since because I felt like they were too big compared to the regular Crickhopper, and I wasn't even getting hit on that anymore. I may have to tie one on and give it a shot at a different pond. Thanks for sharing this one and restoring my hope in my purchase!

That Rebel Grasshopper is similar to their Pop-R-my favorite topwater lure that I've caught both my large and smallmouth PB's on. I did find that replacing the hooks to the next size up, and the split ring with a small to medium wire snap clip [non-swivel/a VMC Duolock snap] helped the action, tangles, and hooksets. Great video Matt. 👍

@@golfish8589 // Most everyone has a favorite lure(s) and with good reason-and I love hearing the reasons why. One night a group of us were sitting around telling lies; I mean each of us was "sharing the particulars" related to why it was our favorite lure [lol], like fishermen do. That is until the last guy who said "Of course you catch the most, and your PB's on your favorite lure-isn't that the lure you're throwing 95% of the time?" 🤔 It was silent for a few seconds until someone said "Well yeah there's that"-and then we all started laughing. 😂 [edit]: It was funny but true too.

August to October is the time of year to use insect topwaters for bass. Cicadas and dragonflies are common occurrences in August and September before the cicadas die off and become an important source of food for many birds, fish, mammals, and reptiles. Crickets and katydids are very common and widespread until cold temperatures become more common in November. A small topwater like that Rebel is also productive for May and June crappie as they hang around weeds, steep embankments, and large fallen limbs and branches.
