I grew up fishing in northern MN, Hackensack - Walker area. Every summer from age 10 to 20, I would travel up there from the Chicago area with family. Then, life took me in other directions. Its now over 60 years later. I like watching your channel because it brings back so many memories. I've seen so many lakes, like the ones you fish. I will never forget the early morning fog, a slight breeze that develops around 9 am, the smell of pines in the breeze and then the bright sun. Thank you for taking me back.

Matt, great content as usual. So glad you are honest with us about fishing 4-5 hours with not much to show for your time but then you switched to the frog and made some magic. Lots of fisherman online just show the highlight reel and it makes it seem like they are always catching fish but you reveal the reality that it takes work to put together great content like this video.
@johnconnell98362 жыл бұрын
. Matt, that lake reminds me a bunch of Beauty Lake in Todd County, Minnesota. My mom's brother had a cabin on it when i was growing up. The shoreline was choked up with Lillypads and wild rice. Back in the 1970s, that lake held huge bass and pike. bluegills too!
@patrickharrison47632 жыл бұрын
Same, it's nice to see and honest fishing show. I once met someone who worked on some of the older fishing shows and a lot of those guys would spend a week on a lake and place all that footage to make it seem like one day!

I never fished with top water lures in my life, until I started watching your channel ! Thank you for showing me the tips and tricks on those ! I have a small pond near my home where Largemouth Bass lives and all I was catching was 9-10" fish and then one day I caught a 14" on a flopper popper and I was so excited about it !

During the summer months I pretty much always fish topwater, sometimes I'll switch to a jig or worm if I go a couple hours without any action but usually I can find something willing to bite. The footage is just so much more exciting with some good topwater strikes!

Great fishing and some impressive bass. I'm sure there is many more fish under these pads but sometimes they are looking for other baits I always have a rod with a 4 inch grub for back up when I throw a topwater and it looks like they should be in there but don't hit my topwwater. And I spend a fair amount of time on the edges of these large pad fields some times they are hitting the bait coming and going from under cover. Still very relaxing and always a great adventure with you.
