Huge fan of NeO. Seen them live 3x. They sound just as good as the albums. They didn’t have an official bass player when they recorded this album. Their pervious one had left and they didn’t replace him until after the recording. Their bass lines are always bad ass! Cygnus was their previous bassist and now Martino. They had a studio bassist in this recording. You should react to “and plague flowers the kaleidoscope live in Denver” that song is in the curriculum at the Sydney music conservatory for composition. The violinist Tim Charles is classically trained. also their drummer Dan Presland has his own YT channel where he does play throughs of their songs as well as his other projects.

Hey mate! I'm glad you enjoyed the video, I was the DOP/Editor and Co-Director on this bad boy! Working with NeO was a freakin' treat. Their drummer is as fit as you'd imagine, I did a podcast with him awhile ago about his attitude towards working out and all those goodies. (Check out The Major Lift on Spotify). My band - Caligula's Horse supported them last year on their Painted Progression tour, I have a vivid memory of leaving the venue after we played to get dinner and relax after our set. We could hear the bass drum going full pace from the start of their set, and after 90 minutes we walked back into the venue - still going. He's an anomaly of sweetness and discipline. But hey, while you're at it - I also edited and directed our newest video for Slow Violence, I'd love to hear your thoughts on it 😜

This song absolutely floored and astounded me when I first heard it here on KZbin. I've since seen these guys live twice (at Fowler's Live on North Tce) Tim, the violinist and Xen the harsh vocalist, have such an excellent dynamic of harsh and cleans. It defies description. At one point (7:12) in this video they reference Botticelli's painting, The Birth of Venus. In the tradition of Molly Meldrum, do yourself a favour next time they're in town and go see them. Cheers dude.

Mate. Enjoyed your reaction to Neo. Like the other comment And plague flowers the kaleidoscope live in Colorado is a ripper. For some more Aussie melodic metal try Be'lakor, The smoke of many fires.

'And Plague Flowers The Kaleidoscope', 'Devour, me: Colossus (Part I): Blackholes', and 'Of Petrichor Weaves Black Noise' off the album 'Citadel' (the former) and 'Portal Of I' (the latter two) respectively are my favourite songs by Ne Obliviscaris. For a new band to react to (I believe I've made the suggestion on another video before), I'll suggest you check out Fit For An Autopsy - Black Mammoth Cheers!

They were in between bassists around the time this album came out afaik. Their previous bassist went by the name Cygnus, he has some videos on youtube, check him out! I'm not a bassist, but hearing him play really makes me wish I was one. Their current bassist is an Italian called Martino, also incredibly talented. This band really gives every instrument a chance to sing, particularly the bass and that violin. As for genre, this is typically viewed as 'Progressive metal' in its composition and song structure, and the actual sound fits the 'Melodic Death metal' description.

If you think Dan Presland is a great double bass drummer, check out Cattle Decapitation’s drummer, David McGraw…The whole band is exceptional…Best Deathgrind band out their…A deviation from the usual reactions…Would like to see a reaction to this sick band…Obscura is another kick ass band, super technical & super clean…Some Female fronted Metal bands would be cool as well…JINJER, SPIRITBOX, & STRAIGHT LINE STITCH, all killer Female Fronted Metalcore Bands…You won’t be disappointed…

Plague Flowers is their most popular (and rightly so) but imho their self titled track "Forget Not" is their best track, with "Painters of the Tempest" part 2 being a close second.

Mate - you need to do Jinjer - On the Top. The only way I can get my wife to listen to Jinjer is if I can sit her in front of the computer, headphones on and your reaction video is running - its like it makes her feel better that I am not the only one that appreciate Jinjer`s crazy skill-level and wonderful music. P.S. also the bass is AWESOME on this track!!!
