Greetings from South Africa. I am short sighted minus 2.5 in both eyes. This deteriorated to minus 3.5 at age 45. I have seen most of your videos. I have been for MRIs, chiro and psyiotherapy for lower back pain in my left. This morning, i did your excercises but worked on my eyes. I closed my right eye and automatically my weight shifted to the left. Opened and closed my eyes, same thing happened. Thank you so much. This makes sense. We don't have a PRI practitioner in South Africa, so this is a blessing. 😊

You are a blessing, Neal. Now 25 years of age, I’ve always had strong vision and to do exercises like Bulgarian split squats is a great struggle for me and requires a ton of visual focus. It now makes sense to my how sometimes, I can refocus my eyes from right to center it that makes sense. I remember at 19 yrs old, looking over my blind spot while changing lanes (compensating for lack of peripheral vision) and the left side of me neck in tremendous pain. As a kid, always in pain and injured. I’ve been compensating for as long as I remember. I live 2 hour drive from you and would definitely appreciate treatment from your office.

hello Neal!! i have been watching your videos off and on for a couple years now. my upper left quadrant of vision used to be dull, dim and fuzzy. i could not take in much info from either left or right eye in the upper left quadrant. sounds similar to what you are talking about. one day last january i was sitting in the ocean (i live in vancouver, bc) and i could feel the muscles above my ears start to retract strongly. this happened for about a week. i thought it was a most curious sensation. after a couple weeks of feeling this sensation while sitting in the cold, cold ocean my upper left quadrant of vision cleared up and has been better ever since. a couple months before this i got invisilign to straighten out my teeth. after my vision improved all my postural imbalances (which you have described so well) improved remarkably. i don't have a good explanation for what happened but it seems to align with much of what you talk about in your videos. around the same time my breath holds improved in a remarkable way, from 4-5 minutes to 8-9 minutes in just a few months. you said something along the lines of teeth, vision, breathing and body pain... keep up the good work!!

Would the PRI techniques to open up left peripheral vision and promote more optic flow on that side get someone over to their left. Or do those techniques then allow someone to have more success with more “traditional” pri techniques (left hamstring, left glute med, etc)

I just tried closing my eyes and walking to see if taking my eyes out of the equation would make a difference and it did. I could feel that I was sensing the left side and muscles were kicking in. I was holding on to a rollator so I would not fall. So I’m wondering if my eyes are a big factor in my problem. Also, I commented on a video a week or so earlier that I went to acupuncture and that really caused my my left side to kick in. The acupuncturist put a bunch of needles in my head, and I am just wondering if that relaxed a bunch of muscles in my head and let my skull bones move. Because she really didn’t many put needles in other areas. Just one in each leg and three in the wrist and hand area on each side. But I do remember feeling a big change in my head. But as I mentioned before, within about 24 hours, it just all of a sudden wore off.

I came across your channel a month ago and now everything makes sense. I have Left AIC pattern for sure and I believe the right tmcc too. I went to the optometrist today because my left field of vision is getting worse and the optometrist can confirm that it's true. I got all four of my wisdom teeth in 2019 and that's when all these issues got a lot worse. Im pretty much stuck in the left AIC. My optometrist is sending me to a specialist because they think I have a lession in my petuitary gland. My question is whether you think PRI can fix my issue or I have to go to a Neuro and optometrist specialist? Thank you!
@NealHallinan3 жыл бұрын
Well, you can't really separate PRI from optometry, because proper movement depends on proper visual input to your visual cortex which can then be processed by the motor cortex. You'll likely need both.

Hi Neal, In the video you talk about stabilizing a body with vision, particularly the right. How would you get someone out of that?
@NealHallinan3 жыл бұрын
Once the body is stabilized with the appropriate muscles, it will likely stop using vision. However, sometimes a special prescription may be needed (like decreasing the prescription for the right eye a bit) so that it stops taking over, or the individual may just need to start observing left peripheral vision more. I think dental issues are more common (narrow palate, maloclussion etc...)
@JaiNormis5 жыл бұрын
Greetings Neal! If you had a patient undergoing PRI treatment who wanted to increase muscle hypertrophy without promoting dysfunctional patterns, which exercises would offer the lowest risk of injury while still allowing for many muscles to work in a coordinated fashion (compound exercise), allowing for muscles to stabilize an implement moving in space (free weight), and allowing the individual to perform the exercise in a state of neutrality? I understand that no exercise is inherently "bad", but some are more prone to pushing a patterned individual deeper into their pattern even when performed with impeccable technique (for example, weighted shrugs, back squats, chest flies, etc.).
@NealHallinan5 жыл бұрын
My basic recommendation is to avoid heavy squatting and deadlifting and stick with single limb exercises. Bi-lateral exercises may be forcing too much symmetry onto a body that really needs to act more asymmetrically (one side engaging while the other side disengages). I"ll make a video about this subject.

@ShotStoppers4 жыл бұрын
13:05 sorry if i misunderstood but are you saying that my visual system will be fixed if I start reading from right to left???
@NealHallinan4 жыл бұрын
No, unfortunately that's not what I'm saying. Reading right to left can inhibit a neuro-visual pattern that is holding us in the right TMCC pattern. Humans love to stand on their right leg (or sit on their right sit bone) with their entire body oriented to the right, but a head rotated to the left in order to stay straight. In that position we constantly move our eyes left to right to move. That pattern (which visual, vestibular, and postural) can become ingrained so much that our neck gets even more stuck to the right. By going into left stance, with a neck oriented to the left, and reading right to left, be can inhibit the old pattern by simply reversing the pattern we are stuck in. That's the best I can explain it.
