Thank you so much for posting these hymns. There are very few churches nowadays who still sing these old songs, which is so very sad. These songs are so meaningful and give proper reverence to the Lord. These were written by some of the greatest gospel songwriters who ever lived. At least we can hear these great songs on You Tube. Thanks again for posting them.

I'm 21 years old and I absolutely love the old hymns of the faith. They contain deep and powerful truths which are altogether absent from today's modern, shallow, repetitive, and emotional "worship" songs.

I woke up with memories of this song from my childhood and decided to search for it. My heart was blessed by its melody and lyrics. This song was used a the intro to a Sunday morning radio programme. There is a conservative Mennonite church in Baltimore, MD. The pastor used to live in DC and would travel each week to attend this church with his family. He did that weekly for 8 years. (If your curious the name of the church is Hampden Mennonite)

Great hymn! “He is nearer to us than we are to ourselves.” What bliss it is to find that place of stillness/waiting where our thinking mind gets benched for a time. So needed in our busy cultures.

I do not know the hymns like that. But I tell you one thing, this was the best Christian gospel song hymns I ever listened to. Wow just wow, and then because it talks about the heart of God😍 I stumbled upon this in my mother's red Hymn book once I opened it and decided to check this one out first. 💕

Im am disgusted and dismayed by the so called COntemporary Christian Music. Music played in modern Protestant churches has no reverence for God, no sense of repentance and need of conversion, no awe for God. It is shallow, mundane, mood-oriented, world-friendly and will definitely lead many to perdition...

I was just reading Isaiah 40:11 and I remembered listening to this hymn. I'm glad I could find it again. I do agree that the old hymns are great. There's more about God in them and less of us. They're so beautiful and full of meaning.

This is a very special hymn written by one of our family’s ancestors, Cleland B McAfee, after the death in 1896 of his two nieces from diptheria . This song is sung at all McAfee funerals. It is beautiful. (From my cousin)

I came across this beautiful Hymn in the 60s and recently as I was the praising the Lord, this Hymn came to my mind "Near to the Heart of God: Written by Cleland B. McAfee.1866-1944 "From the Hymnal, "Hymns of Glorious Praise." Thanks for posting this beautiful Hymn. When I sing this song, I feel the closeness of our Lord and saviour Jesus Christ!

Amen...i can barely bare to hear non hymn like Christian songs any longer. I still enjoy some Contemporary Christian music but not half as much as use to. I prefer the hymns as well to draw me close to God! I praise God for His love and mercy to let me 👂 hear!!!
