Hey Zach I’m a diesel mechanic and something that we do when changing filters is puncture a small hole in the bottom of the filter and let it drain out before we unscrew the filter that way you don’t make a bug mess just thought I’d share it with you as I saw you were making a mess. Good video!

To stop the corrosion from fertilizer use baking powder we used to pull a Rosen cart in from of our con planter and for 15 years we had very little problem with corrosion and now we use it in anything we put fertilizer in and another good thing to try is spray it down witch high Tran oil It really stops corrosion from fertilizer and manure

A couple of the larger farmers in my area have gone to having their own fuel trucks, the kind that usually delivers fuel to your farm. My buddy said when the crops are heavy they couldn't keep up with fuel, 5 S790 drinking 700-1000 Litres, so they dumped the slip tanks, got rid of the experiment trailer and bought a tandem axle fuel truck off the Co-op.

Hello, I put a clear flat plastic sheet behind the filters down and away from tractor parts and redirect them to a collector, so not do make a big mess, you do spill a little diesel anyway, but the tractor stays much cleaner.

Good luck with the upcoming harvest, stay safe! We are a few weeks away from harvest here in the Texas panhandle. We were just about to kick off with some wheat planting but the weather decided other wise. We had a major cold front come through and it’s been raining the last two days with temps in the upper 30’s to low 40’s. Then it’s suppose to jump back up into the 70’s and 80’s by the end of the week.

Out here in Texas under Colorado we are 34 degrees this 9th day of September. The snow was only 35 miles west. A few more degrees lower and a half million acres of cotton would have been destroyed. My corn is just over half way down the milk line. A frost would have been a big reduction in corn and sorghum crop. I weighed our average ear of corn on our best 1/2 mile pivot and it was 8/10 lb or 25,000 lbs per 31,500 population. Hope to get 3 more weeks to fill to get heavy 61+ lbs per bushel.

I would have a special hell for designers who put filters where you cannot easily get a drain tray under them. And surely it is about time that a better securing system was developed so strain or outright violence (see earlier video) is not needed. Ditto hydraulic hoses which can be connected the wrong way round.

@Slippity_Slappity4 жыл бұрын
That new fuel trailer is EPIC! Love the new decal work, and the additional capability! Maybe when I get big.... Haha Here's a couple ideas for Thundercreek, in case they want a challenge or two... Find a small diesel engine that could run off of the fuel tank, so if you have fuel to pump, you have fuel to run the pump. Use the same engine to power the pump for the DEF, diesel, compressor, and a battery bank for the lights. This would solve several logistical issues. The battery bank for the lights, etc would more than be enough to allow for an engine block heater for the diesel engine. It would simplify the whole arrangement, hopefully more than compensating for the (presumably) larger size the diesel engine would be. This would potentially enable even more storage area, either for more fuel, more tools, or.... for my second idea... The addition of a small pressure washer. This would either need a water tank, or perhaps could hook up to a "buddy" water tank pulled behind or filter creek water (that may be a crazy idea, haha). If enough space was saved by consolidation, there may be enough room for a small water tank for quick rinsing jobs, or removing some mud before hitting the road. I suppose a supplemental water tank could even be mounted topside, so it could be removed when it wasn't needed. At the least this would give a mobile pressure washer, so it could be used at multiple farms, etc. So even if it needed to be hooked up to a water source, it would still be much more mobile than a traditional unit. Obviously, this would increase the price of the "fuel trailer", but it would basically make it a small shop trailer. The versatility would more than compensate for the price increase, IMO.
