What i do for the backpack is that i tuck the remaining strap under his belt and plug it in. It doesn't plug in all the way, but it stays on nicely. Or you could always take off the belt and display him with his backpack. What i like about this figure is the customization.

I army built these guys back when they 1st came out, 10 years ago and im happy to say there is no sign of deterioration in the jackets so far

I believe you are supposed to take off the bandolier strap before you put on the back pack.
