Update: Apparently NECA is also releasing a 4th version alongside this one. It's the same Kong, but instead of the tree branch and critters, he gets shackles and a biplane to grab onto, with boxart of the iconic Empire State Building scene.

I see the two Ultimate releases as sort of like the rest of the puzzle. The snarl-face head goes with the fierce roar face the original came with. Then you get the classic head of the original with the articulated jaw classic head for the later two releases. To me, it was worth getting both.

I really want a 1933 version of the trex from the original king kong movie. I know one was made 10 or so years ago but it looked a little bit off somehow and not quit accurate to the movie. The trex from 1933 king kong looked really nasty. Its head looked alot like a snake head to me. There were a couple great "vrex" figures made from the king kong remake. Those were fantastic as well but i really hope they make a more accurate version of the og king kong trex.
