@@doncnunez6231 That’s awesome. Not to many original owners these days. I have a 1970 Dodge Challenger my dad bought new. I’m in the process of verifying if I’ll be the original owner since my dad passed it down to me and we have all the records of it. I went to a car show last year in Texas just before I lost him and was told by several of the judges that the original ownership would be past down to me because it stayed in the emendate family ( because I was his son. ) It would be cool if it’s true. Nevertheless it will never take away the memories my dad and I had in that car.

I remember witnessing the glory days of the grand national. I told friends that this car was beating big blocks and emberassing alot of v8 built machines. It became almost comical when a gran national would pull into the pits, sometimes racers would drive their cars back onto their trailers and leave. I spent a good part of my younger yrs at the Dragstrip. And the Buicks surprized alot of racers. I recall rumors on the street there was a 455gs buick that u did'nt mess with. Legend says he took out a 454 camaro that was once the big dog. 💪😎

Back in the late 80's when those Grand Nationals first came out I had a 1970 Buick GS Skylark 455. I raced a brand new Grand National back then, and my GS blew that thing away in a straight line. My GS was not a Stage 1, but the engine modifications I had done to the 455 (.30over 460) engine made it more powerful than a Stage 1.

@christophersanders50079 күн бұрын
@mfgreviews5028 The rear tires on my GS could hit 0 to 60 MPH in 2-seconds it is just getting the tires to hookup, and have the car move forward would be the problem.

Grand Nationals are cool cars, for sure. However, I had a buddy in high school who had a beautiful Stage 1, blue with some white vinyl roofing accent, IIRC, and it was a beast. I went on one ride in that thing and remember being pinned to the back of my seat as we entered the freeway going who knows how fast. That was awesome car. And I'm guessing it's a lot more rare than the Grand Nationals. But that is a guess based on how many I've seen in the wild. I even remember that it had an automatic with a shifter I could only describe as being like a jet throttle. Was it the only car that beat the GN? The Cuda almost beat it, but couldn't hold off the Buick and the end. If I had to choose between a '70 Hemi Cuda and a Stage 1 Buick, I'd have a very hard time.

The hemi didn't need a power adder. This hemi charger ran a 13.93. A box stock hemi charger will run 13.5s. The GNs also had a 300 to 600 pound weight advantage depending on the Charger's options and of course the hemi engine was heavy because it was originally a NASCAR engine designed for high rpm endurance. A well prepared hemi Charger 4 spd with 4.10s in stock trim with a good driver will run 13.1 at 109 more than enough to handle a GN.

@80GP40014 күн бұрын
The Stock GNX'S where in the 13's but the Stock Grand Nationals where 14's. Top speed was 125 Miles and Hour for the stock GN the C4 Vettes of the same year was 155 mph. The Gbodies where also Lighter then those Muscle Cars, But there is no doubt with some tweaks the GN's where quick on the Strip.

@ TY. And yes GN were some sweet rides back in the 80s and 90s. I still think they are some nice rides even today. Back in high school there was a kid that had one his mom and dad bought him. Nothing wrong with that. I had this friend that had a 68 or 60 charger with a 383 4spd. They used to race all the time at Kendall in Mansfield Texas 1/8th mile. If the charger didn’t miss a gear he would beat the GN. Never the less it was always nice to see those 2 race. It was always good. Last day of school my dad let me take his 1970 Dodge Challenger 440 Magnum 4spd to school. Yeah that was fun to see the look on those guys face. That thing Shock the whole school. I knew it was loud but man it echoed really bad in the school parking lot for some reason. If I remember correct it was pushing around 600. -650 HP. Yeah, she would move. Love that car. It sitting in my garage still to this day. Lost my dad about 2 years ago. Got some really good memories of us in that car. Out of respect, it will be finished exactly how we both planned on it to be restored. We made a list together and started on it before he past. It’s just about finished. Just a few more things.
