Highly recommend these....I use one for winter camping. Get the neoprene sleeve to protect it when you chuck it in your kit.

Just come across this video. Bought 1 of these a while back with citronella candles. Constantly blocks up with the melted wax now just sits on a shelf in my garage. Tried the plain candles still the same

You will be surprised the heat that comes of one candle defantly takes the chill off

I have used these a many times, both while fishing and back packing (Peak District), if you are locked down in the bivvy with the doors and windows they will warm up the inside, the other week used, it got to 2c outside, and the bees wax candle kept the inside to 6c, that was with the overwrap on. When I can I will purchase the 3 candle version.

Try keeping the candles in the freezer .It tends to help them burn longer. I've gotten 10 or more hours out of them this way.

Have one for years. Still going strong. Don’t notice temperature difference that much myself. I burn slightly thinner candles from Ikea. Burns about 4 hours. Box of 20 candles for 2 quid. Candles have to be cut in 2 because they’re too long => 40 candles for 2 quid!

Used for many years, but these 9 hour candles are not readily available, I generally use the micro version now- which is worth a look... Uses tea lights.

I do bushcraft, but I use a wood burner in a hot tent. No way is a candle good enough to keep warm. They are good candle lanterns but a heater? Nope.

No offence intended but safety has to come first,naked flame in any form of bivvy / tent is recipe for disaster, (equals possible fire, co2, condensation, ). right layered clothing good bedchair & bag plus hot water bottle if you still get cold then suggest pack up and go home.

Yeah , for Bivy , using this candle is bit too dangerous . I would say.... I'm out on that . I did tried with one man tent tho . and it did went well . However , I did paid all the attentions and cautions from every angles for that's might gonna involves with and I'm still alive and well .

MR CK I would yes even if it's very tiny opening just so the air circulate a little ! but tbf one candle is never going to give of dangerous levels of carbon dioxide.. there great for taking the chill off though and warming your hands up..

I started using one of these. The light is a lovely ambient light as said, temperature, maybe 2-3 degrees but they do stop condensation which is a massive bonus and you can have your bivvy fully sealed up with no issues from nastys being given off. I know this because i do and no headaches or any side effects and they burn for 9 hours so things are dry when you wake up to fire up the coleman for that coffee.

Nice Reply Mark I fully agree on temperature. though i have seen quotes saying 8-10 degrees that's probably achievable in a modern terminated tent however a bivvy is far from that so as you say your bang on at 2-3 degrees but that does take the chill of the bivvy and will warm up your hands.. thanks for the info Mark its fully appreciated

Lol relax I'm not a liberal.. uco states 10degrees but for our bivvy set ups you will see about 3to 4 degree differance may seem not a lot but it takes the chill off and stops condensation build up..

Jon Tosh science tells us if it increases warmth on the inside of the bivvy, comparative to outside, condensation would definitely increase not decrease.
