Yeah well i actually knew about it before anyone did too. I was just doing random shit in the game and I found the canyons. The white fog scared me as a child first discovering this glitch. i cried when i saw the white void.

That old beta map of Palmont City looks really good. From an wide perspective, it looks like a state. Sadly they scrapped it because of the Rival Crew system and hiding/cooldown spots.

Yeah. Even though there are a lot of spots from the map that exist in the final game, it seems like that extra area was supposed to be another part of the city or just a bigger canyon.

Except its not. Its not a state. its a fake mock up for PS2 demo needs. Its just made of bits of final palmont and has never been a map. We found original concept and its identical to final Palmont in shape and design, just without final road layout.

The tv ad canyon could possibly be the unfinished canyon which also is a replica of lookout point but without scenery. I think the developers were planning to add the scenery from the tv add, but deleted it for unknown reasons.

OfficialSkippy I remember when I was a kid, one of the canyon's soundtracks scared the shit outta me. I think it's because the developers purposely put so the player doesn't know or even scared to see what It'll happen when the players screws up.

theoretically none of the big changes would even be in the beta version. big changes are always pre alpha. alpha = feature complete (but with bugs) and beta is usually extremely close to the final game but with alot less bugs and mostly finished assets .

i found the beta territory parts, also while i was in the void some time ago i found cassino town minimap routes but the city doesnt exist only routes on the map, i will make a video on soon buts its pretty hard to find them because they are scatered all over the real map and i found about 50 textures of them,i got the images of the territories, the casino town and silverton are 2 diffrent places but based on the same map design, the one i found had similarities between canyon and silverton together please respond p.s im trying to find again in the void i will try post the video in about 2-3weeks

Maybe in the beta, you would race the four bosses in the city and canyon, and then there was a separate boss race for Darius that was triggered there.

barely EA Games and EA Canada (i think) didnt know that the old version is better than the new... the new looked like a version for nerds, i dont have a problem with nerds but i have problem with the worst kind of nerds... just saying san juan looked better and the best thing that EA Can DO is recreate the map and missions/races that were supposed to be on the beta NFS CARBON, I'd Love to check the version that were supposed to be... anyway there will not be san juan again as i imagine but its ok to have fun playing nfs

the unfinished canyon in the final game was probably what they used to create the TV ad special canyon route, they probably added some scenery to it in the distance to make the San Juan looking city and then took it off once the ad was made and forgot to remove the road

Great work Speedy :) Is it possible to collect all this lost and unused textures to create a whole new Palmont city fully remastered? I've seen Dragozool make a remastered texture of Bayview for Underground 2 though. I just want Palmont city to be as it would be originally before the devs became complete buzzkills, with San Juan back on the map and an access to the canyons without an "out of level glitch".

...It is possible to acces canyons without the "out of level glitch" - download the ExtraOptions mod, put it in your 'scripts' folder, press left shift + 1-5 in game to save your current possition, so you can teleport to it whenever you want... you'll need to get to the canyon by the "out of level" glitch to save it, tho XD

@@forests.9597 Yes I know but here me out some canyons if you play are very close to each other and they would have been freeroamable and their was a screenshot I'm the alpha of a Chrysler which looked very similar to the one in the fateful race so I guess there was more into it the only 2 canyons which are stand off are lookout point and the one where you race darius

well I have 2 theories about the nfsc lack of quality in the ps2 1st ps3 was expected to come out earlier than 2007 so the developers thought that instead of putting all the good graphics in ps2 they should put them to the ps3 so that they can show to the gamers that they can make next gen videogames and make more money 2nd the developers were limited by the ps2 system and they had to downgrade the game because ps2 is a 2000 console and pc's back then were much more superior than ps2 because the game was made from pc's that's why at promotional material we see a huge difference of quality
