It is so refreshing to see proper reaction. Most people nowadays just watch the video and stop it from time to time to say some boring stuff that is not even relevant to show. But this guy is different. He pays attention to small details in the anime, shows actual reaction (laugh, fear,hapiness). Also start of the video is straight to the reaction, not like 3 mins of wasted time where he just talks about random stuff. I very appreciate your work.

Tid bit of this episode "The Silver wing Assult badge" is a very highly prestigious medal that is awarded to only flight mages. It is so rare and difficult to get that to this day only Tanya is a living recipient of this award. Oh and her feeling good as she entered the fight was due to her buffing herself with magic. As an observant mage you release your magic at a small rate to hide yourself but when they fight they release a bunch of spells (flight, shield, temperature, strength, etc) which makes mages high and feel less pain and more. That's why she was smiling cuz she was high. The pendent that mages wear is a sophisticated technology which lets them cast and maintain multiple magic at the same time. It effectively acts as a secondary brain and cast spells for them. All they have to do is pump mana and maintain it to use the pendent. The boot thing, horse and ski thing each of the mages use respective of their country is an anime thing which helps to visualize which country they belong to. Not great but hey it helps to identify.

The skii's, horses, and boots are not just national identifiers, but also their propulsion systems, tanya's version is superior to most in that with some acrobatics it can change her trajectory in an instant, which is how she managed to avoid so much flak fire in the 1st episode.

Although you've already put it on the "etc." part, I'd like to mention that they have to constantly regulate their oxygen which is a huge variable for such a high altitude. This variable is ignored or not mentioned with most shows that includes flight magic. Although we could disregard this in animes as either a part of flight magic or just difference in atmospheres, but I think this also indicates that "magic is not just in the environment" but within their system. Further, I do understand that they have to disregard info for anime adaptations, but they kinda downplay mages as to how many spells they need to constantly use. This is why it's very hard to be a mage and even harder to become better at it. (edit: other than magic capacity of course)

Surprise Isekai Mages use the computation jewels to channel magic for spells. They can be programmed to sustain spells such as flight or shields as well as other efects. Their weapons (according to the manga) are the equivelent of a staff for a traditional mage and they can use magic to augment the power of the weapon and give different effects (explosive, piercing and others). The anime, manga and light novel each have different detailsa that supplements each other.

Saga of Tanya the Evil is part of Kadokawa's "Isekai Quartet", which also includes Re:Zero, Overlord, and Konosuba... and later also included Rising of the Shield Hero and The Eminence in Shadow. There is literally an anime titled Isekai Quartet where the main characters of the four series get isekaied into yet another world and go to school together. S2 of Isekai Quartet brings in Shield Hero, and an OVA brought in Eminence in Shadow.

One thing I always notice about this episode is that when the Salaryman and Being X are talking, X only seems to get offended when the Salaryman gives it the moniker “Being X”. It/they/whatever wasn’t so much concerned with being seen as a god, or even as a devil (they were the one who suggested that, after all), but more by the presence of ‘faith’. Even if they were believed to be/were treated as a devil, that’s still a form of faith. The whole rant/complaint they started with was more about ‘people’s lack of faith’ rather than ‘people’s worship of me’, after all It’s only when the Salaryman went with “some being we might as well refer to as Being X” that got a real reaction. No form of faith at all, one way or the other, and classified like some random creature that happened to be discovered during some lab experiment or something. That was what finalized the conclusion “this man lacks any faith whatsoever”. At least, that’s how I’ve come to interpret it

This show as been one of my favorites along with Overlord, since i started to watch anime as a kid and not only is it good but also actually provides with actual military tactics/lingo/terms, it teaches you many things about it and you don´t even notice it at first glance.

This isekai is the antithesis of Mushoku Tensei, specially season 1. Youjo Senki has a great, simple premise, MT has a convoluted premise. Youjo Senki has a main protagonist that is already fully developed so the plot is not about character growth, but about conflict resolution, MT is all about developing the MC from a worthless selfish person who doesn't value his or anyone else's life. Youjo Senki has a strong MC, but weak one-dimensional supporting characters, MT has multidimensional, complex and nuanced supporting characters and an MC who is pretty one-dimensional by comparison (this is on purpose because his development is the plot of the show) Both shows, however, have great production, both also done by fairly new studios too.

Overlord has a LOT of characters so taking any amount of extended time off and trying to remember it all is asking a lot of your brain lol. I usually skim through the previous season whenever a new one comes out just as a refresher. But it's super addicting and really good so if you want to dive back into the rabbit hole, I would highly suggest lol. Also you remember that guy from Ep. 1 who freaked out when hearing about the "Demon of the Rhine" was Tanya - and then said he had once had a run in with her before? He was the guy who stopped her from killing that cadet near the end. So that was his FIRST encounter with her lol. There's no wonder why he said she's a monster in a child's body.

You should absolutely do Overlord, just try to keep in mind that he's a regular dude trying to play the role of a guild leader, so that his minions don't betray him in a world that is having to change in order to make room for him. It's a great story that had me from the first episode, as I have been in that same position 3-4 times now (having the game you played for quite a while unplugged and being the last man standing).

there are hundreds and hundreds of great shows to watch, truth is at least half of the 12-24 episode series just get swept away by mainstream titles. When you think about anime series are divided by seasons, so 4 times per year there are dozens of show that come out. There's so much stuff to watch that even people like me who try to really watch most of the good stuff probably missed a good show here and there. We do our best tho :D

Im super late to this but still wanted to drop it in here. Yes magical doping is a thing and it can make them go a lil aggro, but you caught on at the end, it was all planned even down to the little rant at the start talking about a good day to die and what not, she said that all over the radio before she dumped it to make it seem like she tried her hardest and was super patriotic and eager to serve. They also changed it a lil in the show but she doped her self up so much that she couldnt even feel pain and used her limbs as shields to protect her vitals, when they found her after she detonated they found gooves in her crystal because she had been holding onto it with her teeth because her arms were too damaged

the equipment, as far as I understand, is necessary for casting the multiple spells in combat situations. but a simple levitation like the one shown at 9:51 is a singular spell which likely only needs a focal point given how interconnected science and witchcraft have become in this world.

The laughs in battle are due to combat drugs. She's got a very small body so they have a huge effect on her. Germans were known to use quite a lot in ww1 in our world as well.

The differnt rigs have differnt advantages and disadvantages. The single foot Tanya uses provides mo mobility. The horses are more for long range engaments and stable bases. Skis are kinda of between the two. Just my observations.

Overlord and Youjo Senki (which is the original Japanese name of this series... sorry the English title is a such a horrible mistranslation, I prefer to ignore it and go with the original myself) are indeed made by the same animation studio (hence the ad for Overlord in this one). Also the authors of the respective novels from which the series were adapted are close friends. And Tanya has the same voice actor as Clementine (the one Ainz hugged a bit too tightly) in Overlord. :) Also Myth and Roid made music of openings of both Youjo Senki and Overlord. Something the anime neglected to mention is that Tanya used magic to suppress her fear and rising panic in her first battle. But because she was inexperienced and very close to panicing outright, she accidentally used too much, overloading her brain in a way similar to the being high from drugs. So no, she's not a battle manic or gleeful killer, she was "just" drugged near out of her mind, to the point that she didn't even feel any pain from the wounds she got, and she got a whole lot of them. In order to survive, against so many, she concentrated her protection around her vital organs, resulting in her arms and legs getting riddled by bullet holes, to the point that it's only due to the existence of magic, that her limbs could be saved. Or at least she was in the novel and manga. Considering how they don't mention or even hint at any of this in the anime, they might have actually changed her personality for the anime. Also (again in the manga and novel) there are spells that neutralize both the addictive properties of actual narcotics - both mental and physical addiction that is - which made some mages (though not Tanya herself) shoot up with those substances prior to battle, for increased reaction time, suppression of fear or whatever the individual in question feels they need, and then cleanse their system of the negative side effects afterwards. As long as it doesn't negatively affect their performance and judgement, such practices are permitted. In the novel, they have an illustration of Tanya in the photoshoot clothes and there she looks really cute, unlike in the anime, were she just creeps me out in those clothes. ^^

I think one problem was making this a 12 ep show. Even though they cut off a lot of stuff, it is still so tightly squeezed that they had to change some things inorder for it to fit, i mean it's Kind of a shame we didn't get to see some things from her men's point of view especially from sere Victoria ( i don't remember her proper name). With all that said they anime still did a good job as i had a great time first watching this and i feel that a lot of people who get into this without knowing about the source material are still able to enjoy the show

Overlord is another amazing anime series that you should definitely watch again from the beginning. It isn't done by the same author, but I think they're friends or something. In any case, Overlord and Tanya the evil comprise 2 of the 4 anime series that collab'd to make isekai quartet. The other two being Re:zero and Konosuba. Konosuba is an isekai comedy and re:zero is actually kinda brutal, but both are great anime. i think some other series get added in as the show goes on, but the base 4 series are all well beloved by fans.

It's true. "Tanya" was right to fire the guy in the beginning. He frequently missed work and was a poor worker when he was there. In every sense of the term, he was a deadweight employee. He just had a bunch of tear-jerker emotion tied to him like he had a family and life problems. How does that make him different than everyone else? Should the company let his deadweight sink the ship and harm every other employee taking care of their families? There was no reason to keep him. Furthermore, it wasn't even "Tanya's" choice. Yes, 'she' would have if it was, and 'she' would likely have fired him sooner, but it wasn't 'her' choice. It was merely an order to follow that would have cost 'her' a job if refused. Tanya did nothing wrong. It makes me wonder if the author of the anime is poking fun at the mentality of sympathy or being serious. The foolish world would sympathize with the fired employee, but there is no valid sympathy. He is worthless...even more so after what he did.

If you would like to see how characters look like in manga or ranobe, you will see everyone MUCH more beautiful. MC as a man is really tall and buffed as hell, basically a 2 meter wardrobe and as a girl she is pretty and her hair are excellent. Most of men are bishounens and the same Serebryakova could be waifu of the season. And the saddest part we won't see slim commander with a sword and chubby commander with 2 MG42s
