Like your setup. I am putting mine together still and are really close; I too have the same camera and like to carry electronics for comfort which all together with cables and all would try to stay under 4 pounds but to be able to do so and stay still as light as possible I have redone all my basic gear; now I have Zpacks Arc Haul bag, Thermarest max, EE quilt 20 degrees, Zpacks Duplex tent, then light clothes, rain gear and shells - I have not weighted all together that I like to carry but if I can stay around 20 pounds with food and water I will be very happy; I have seen people carrying 10 pounds and around 15 with food and all but I am novice and from when I started buying gears to now I have expended a lot of money and had to do a 360 changes to more expensive stuff or I would be carrying 30 or 35 pounds!..I think it is possible to take all you would like and still go relatively light; the trick is light gear is expensive. Happy trails!

Also any thoughts about solar power options? My guess is it adds too much and with the battery back up you have plenty of opportunities to charge. It just seems nice to be able to charge your electronics while you hike.

+Larry3043 i am hoping to finish in 4 months. But much can change. We will see how long it takes. I will need a bear canister when I hike through the sierras. I might have my bigger pack sent out for that section to account for the extra space.

I just watched your review of the Montbell thermawrap. Great video. Would it be a sufficient insulated layer for you hike of the PCT? Enough warmth?

yeah! especially if paired with a good fleece mid layer. If I were to do the PCT again I would bring my Thermawrap, a cuddleduds fleece shirt and a rain shell for my warm system.

Thanks for replying to my question! I got the hooded version of the thermawrap. I like it so far but living in the south, I haven’t got to test its lower limit yet. Good luck on your hike, look forward to the videos of your journey. Are you going stove-less? If so what will be your primary food. Thanks
@NeemorsWorld8 жыл бұрын
+flashman V thank you! I am going stoveless, i mostly eat cliff bars, pop tarts, and ramen (crunchy). And a few other things. Any backpacking meal can be eaten without rehydration.
@glenn25958 жыл бұрын
Same question as flashman V, I noted in your Appalachian pre_thru hike you brought the GSI cook kit and alcohol separate from your cook kit. Is that in your food bag now or are you not bringing any type of stove or pot? Best of luck, I'm looking forward to your videos. Someday I do hope you get the chance to edit the vlog left from your road trip as they are entertaining and educational. Take care.
@NeemorsWorld8 жыл бұрын
+Glenn Conner yup, on the AT i carried a cook kit and stove but hardly ever used it. I ended up sending it home during that hike. On this hike i don't have any type of cook kit. I just eat things out of a bag. I will probably do a video on that some day. There are also cold rehydration techniques that work quite well.

@NeemorsWorld8 жыл бұрын
+Nate_gone_hiking the kumo held up phenomenally. There is very little wear from the summer and I probably could get 2 more thru-hikes out of it. The mariposa is huge, if you need the space then get it. If you can fit the stuff in a gorilla id say to go for that.

How did you fit all the gear and food in a 36L? And how many GB of storage did you need for all your footage?
@NeemorsWorld8 жыл бұрын
It's all about efficient packing. I got rid of almost all my stuff sacks and containers. everything else just mushed together so there wasn't any wasted air pockets. I ended up sending home quite a bit of things from this video but I never got around to making an updated gear video. as far as storage goes, I believe the total I used was 300 something gigabytes between leaving home in June to getting back in Dec. But I was able to back things up when I bought my computer and didn't have to carry 300 gbs worth of SD cards.

I'm sure he will post a gearlist sometime. but it might be the end of the year The Solplex doesn't really hold up in heavy rain ha! I had it collapse on my once in a rain storm and twice in wind storms. It isn't the most stable tent, so it makes you think about your campsite choices more.
