My cogent came buttery smooth from the factory. 100+ flips later it’s got the tiniest hint of lock rock. I stretched the spring and it barely went away. My Altus came with lock stick and very tight and I’m happy because it makes me think as it wears away it won’t have and rock. Again it’s barely noticeable on the Cogent but it has it. LoL. Nice review. Keep us updated brother. 👊🏼

This is by far my favorite knife of the last 2 years. It is perfect. I bought 2 of them, the wood handle and the green micarta/damascus. I swapped the outer scales so I now have the wood scales on the damascus version and it is just gorgeous! The ergos/action and geometry on this design are just outstanding.

Did you leave the post on Amazon ? That was a great idea 👍and looks better in that configuration . Good job dude . Got one today on knife day and liked it immediately for the action and look . They have the milled clips on Amazon for $12 in black and nickel . I put them on every civivi and most have screwed right in except the praxis needed a little love .
@danielcluley870
@danielcluley870 2 жыл бұрын
@@Hungrybird474 I didn't leave a review on Amazon, but it looks much better this way in my opinion, and like it was intended. Now you get a great "working knife" and a fancier damascus knife that won't get used much but both with the same profile and design. It's a good way to do it.
@danielcluley870

I must say, the knife that has been getting my most "pocket carry" right now though is my Kizer Yorkie thumbstud in M390. I modified that a bit with a deep carry pocket clip and a bit of "smoothing" on the micarta handles. I think I changed my mind a bit on my favorite knife of the last 2 years. The Yorkie is pretty much "invisible" to carry but still a great knife and functional for what I do. With a different pocket clip that actually extends a bit above the "hilt" end of the handle, it is now a full 4 finger grip for me choked up or a 3 and a half back in indentation. Such a great little user knife for EDC.

@@danielcluley870 I know what you mean when a knife is found that is liked a lot , size or style doesn’t matter when we like what we like . It's kinda weird, like you know you have your own style and size and "type" of knife you think you like, and then that one just jumps into your pocket for the majority of the time and becomes the one you love.

Definately a good offering for Civivi in the button lock game. Both look like good working knives. The little details that Civiv is missing and the price increases is making it easier for companies like Kizer, Kubey, and others to really give Civivi a run for their money. I prefer holes, then thumb studs, and then flippers but I definately like it when there is more than one deployment option. Thanks for the look see Jerad and keep making sharp things fun and enjoyable

It seems more people are gravitating more and more away from flipper tabs.. I'm the opposite. I buy probably 80% flippers. I'm a big fidgeter, and a flipper with that slow controlled slight shake shut action and good acoustics is what does it for me everytime.

Hey you guys if you get the wood handle one check your screws and they will seem like they are loose but keep in mind wood retracts and expands and don’t crank them screws down but hit the tips with some 242 thread lock . Pretty sure the wood is exotic and dense used to humid environments

Jared bro , today was a lovely day and reminded me how karma works and why I believe in things I cannot see . I went to work this morning on this office on the outside to bend some facia metal and the owner came out with a civivi box and it was the wood Altus . Wasn’t expecting it and he said the dude is swamped who is making my custom , don’t even know what it is so .. anyways this little knife suprised me . I think it’s a winner easily once it gets a mixed clip will look more refined . Yeah man , it’s good all the way around . Hope all is well and everything came in the mail ok 👌?

I couldn't tell when you had it zoomed in on the plunge lock. Mine looks like the black finish broke off right down the middle of the lock interface and it's causing ridiculously bad lock stick, like having to put all my weight on it to disengage. Where the plunge contacts the blade is yours a black finish or polished steel finish? I just want to figure out if I can fix it myself or not. My cogent has the black coating but my altus is polished steel on one side and coated on the other

"Sharpening choil." Repetitively redundant, as all choils are "sharpening choils." A choil exists to make it easy to sharpen the entire blade. A choil large enough to comfortably accommodate a finger is a finger choil. A finger groove in the ricasso that provides no access to the blade is a finger groove in the ricasso, a feature the ignoranti mistakenly call a finger choil. A finger groove in the handle is a finger groove, although morons may call it a finger choil. It's amazing how many purported knife gurus have no idea what a choil is.
@NeevesKnives
@NeevesKnives 2 жыл бұрын
Using certain terminology isn't necessarily for you bit for the person just getting onto knives that's learning, a choil is a finger choil because it's a choil for your finger, there's different kinds like half n half, or forward finger choils. The different terms help the people understand what they are looking at that are just beginning or understanding what the part is for
