I mean, Glenn and Abe were technically resources to Negan, right? They served their purpose in terrifying Rick’s group into submission. Fear is a valuable resource to a guy like Negan. The only one here that’s especially egregious is the doctor. Can’t be tossing those away in the apocalypse like that.

Yeah I suppose, that’s a valid argument, you can’t lie though using some of these people in different ways would be way more valuable, sparing some of them definitely woulda been the right call, I think even he knows he killed too many, it just became addictive to him. The Negan in the final episode of the show is a very different Negan from the one we meet in season 6.

@@wyattslaughter For sure, all of these people could have lived if Negan wasn’t a conquistador. “Saving” people who didn’t need or want to be saved with his “lessons” always involving publicly killing someone. The doctor was too valuable, and David could’ve been scared into submission. I don’t think Negan could’ve spooked Abraham though, and Simon was an active traitor to him.

I think the doctor was a message for Eugene. The message was “I don’t care how important you are to me, I’ll still kill you”.

Percentage wise- how similar is the show to the comics. Personally, I’ve never read them so I wouldn’t know. But is like 80% of the lines used and people we see from the comics or is it half and half. Was Andrea in the comics? Who on the show WASN’T in the comics? Just stuff like that bc this has been a huge bother for me. Not knowing.

I haven’t read the comics either! But as I’ve watched the show I’ve looked up a lot of information about them being curious just like you, I’d say at this point it’s about 50 50. Since the start they’ve taken risks and made significant changes to the comics. For example Darryl was never in the comics, Norman Reedus auditioned for Merle but the show wanted to give the part to Michael Rooker (as they did) so they created a whole new character for Norman because they still liked him, they probably didn’t have a full plan for his character either, he went from not being on the cover of season 1 to being the new Rick by season 11. Also, Sophia, Carols daughter that dies in the tv show actually is one of the survivors of the apocalypse and marries Carl, which brings another example of veering from the comics and is the only one I don’t like, but I’ve accepted it now. So yeah there you go, I’d say since the start they’ve been not afraid to take risks, some were good, some were questionable, but overall they’ve had so many moments that were dead on from the graphic novel and I’m sure it’s been an absolute joy for the fans. Now that I’m on the final three episodes I’ll definitely be picking up the comics soon!

The show isn’t very faithful to the comics they deviate a lot. Negan in the comics was better then his tv counterpart. Same could be said of a lot of characters that either get character assassinated or just killed off for no reason. You have these few examples where the tv show version of the characters is better then the comic such as Shane, carol, the governor but that’s literally it. Starting from season 1 the writing and pacing of the show was so good but the longer it went on the longer the writing started to stagnate. Here’s a brief summary of the shows and it’s writing Season 1-2 absolutely amazing Season 3-4 really really good Seasons 5-6 okay Season 7-8 awful Season 9-forward: stale, predictable, everyone but Michonne, carol and Daryl are dead or written off and the villains are so ridiculously down toned they don’t carry any of the fear they instilled in the comics. The shows writing just kept getting worse as it went on.

Daryl didn't exist in the comics among other characters but he of course is the most important of the bunch

I still can't accept that. They killed hundreds of people but they let Negan survive. You can talk all day long about forgiveness and ladida but it's just not believeable that they would do that. The writers just did it because they knew that the show sucks ass apart from Negan and couldn't do the show without him after killing him
