Nehemia Gordon spoke about his book "Shattering the Conspiracy of Silence" on Exploits TV with Christine Darg. In this exciting interview, Nehemia unleashes some of the Hebrew power of the Priestly Blessing. Also known as the Aaronic Benediction, this ancient prayer is recorded in the Book of Numbers, chapter 6, verses 22-27. A key part of the Priestly Blessing is the Hebrew name of God, commonly known as the Tetragrammaton. This holy name appears three times in the blessing, once in each of its three lines. The blessing ends in the Book of Numbers with the promise, "they shall place My name on the children of Israel and I will bless them" (Numbers 6:27). Generations of scribes, rabbis, and priests colluded to keep this name a secret. Centuries of religious agendas and tradition obscured the Hebrew meaning of the blessing. Maverick Bible scholar Nehemia Gordon leaves no stone unturned in search of the truth. The clues take him from the peak of Mount Sinai to the battlefields of the Yom Kippur War. Find out what he discovered on 9/11 and venture with him down into the literal "pit of hell."

I look at it this way. I was born in the US. My native language is English. My name in English is John. Now if I was to be born into a different country where a different language was spoken, and I was still named John, but in that tongue instead of English, I would hear a different name than how it is pronounced in English. In Mexico I would be called Juan (Hwuan). In Russia I would be called Eoanna (Ee-o-anna). In what ever language I was born into, I would accept that as accurate. As it is, I speak English. God's name in Hebrew, is for Hebrew speaking people. I speak English. and the most common way of expressing God's name in English is Jehovah. This rendering has been used since the very first English translation and was in existence way before that in German. So Jehovah is what I use. The God who confused the languages in the first place, at the Tower of Babel, creating all the different ways to say his name, would hardly be upset if I didn't speak it exactly as the Hebrews did. What's most important is that we call on that name as a friend and put faith in the person who owns it. The name itself has no magical powers that somehow uttering it exactly as the Hebrews did will protect you from evil or make you closer to godliness. While so many focus on the name, they ignore the person.

It amazes me how people will ignore something that has been with them all along, because they personally don't like it's source or who says it, or associated with it. The name of God has been with us all along. In English is it pronounced Jehovah. But here is the kicker. When the English language was first being formed and evolving, it was based on German. In German, the letter "J" is pronounced "Ye". As it is today. In the original English this was the same case for the "J". When the first English bible translators began working they pronounced God's name as Yehovah. It was only later that the "J" in English developed it's harder sound. Since 1931 there has been a religion that has carried that name. Jehovah's Witnesses. But because the vast majority of the world hates them, they refused to acknowledge God's name and some today still argue against using Jehovah in English because of their personal bias against Jehovah's Witnesses.

Yehovah was working in my life, behind the scenes, in 1967. I was taking the first of a four quarter coarse in Spanish at Dekalb Junior College in Georgia. My instructor’s name was Dr. Francisco Andreau. a Cuban American who had escaped Castro’s takeover there. He taught our class that personal names are not supposed to be translated from their native language into any other language. He told me: “If Jimmie goes to Espana (Spain) to live, work, or study, his name does not change to Jaimito, your name is still Jimmie.” Upon my first exposure to Messianic Praise and Worship music, in 2003, I asked someone what does “Yeshua” mean? I was informed that it was Jesus’ Hebrew name and that it meant "Salvation"... I was so shocked that you might as well have slapped my face... What a revelation! Knowing that personal names were not supposed to be translated from their original language, I shouted out loud... “Why did they change his name?” Later, I learned that all of the Hebrew names in the Bible had been changed, obviously, because of institutionalized Antisemitism. From that day forward, I could not go back to calling him Jesus, and forever, in my life, He is “Yeshua” the Messiah of Israel and of all mankind. Shalom, Jimmie Howard

Hello Mr Gordon, I want to thank you for your informative pdf file on the pronunciation of YHVH Yehovah. I was doing extra research on Judges 16:28 in the Leningrad codex where the vowels in the second occurrence of YHVH are Cha-teph' Se'ghohl , Choh-lem and Chi'req, which are the vowels of elohim. But when I looked at the same verse in the Aleppo codex which is much older then the Leningrad codex, the vowels were different in that second occurrence of YHVH in Judges 16:28. They are Sheva , Choh-lem and Chi'req , indicating to me that the scribe was trying to cover up or hide the true pronunciation of God's name by using Cha-teph'Se'ghohl instead of the original vowel Sheva. In the first occurrence of YHVH in this verse the vowels are Sheva and Qa'mets without the missing Choh-lem that should have been there in the first place. Thank you again for the awesome Video :)

Actually the correct vowels were known for centuries. Church songs for many years included the name Jehovah in English, some preachers used it in their sermons, that name form was left in the old King James Version four times, and in place names a couple of times. So it has been hiding there all tbe time for anyone who was genuinely interested in honoring God by his preferred personal name. It's just that the International Bible Students, as Jehovah's Witnesses used to be called, placed a high value on the name of the Father and are known by their grassroots campaign to keep that name alive in the hearts and minds of people who don't slam the door in their faces.

he means he is not a Jew who believes in Jesus,,,Christ means messiah so Israelis and American Jews who believe in Jesus as messiah call themselves messianic Jews they generally keep Jewish holidays, some keep kosher as well,,, the Protestants in the usa who circumcise their sons and use the Hebrew Masorite text that is the same text as the Jews use - they call themselves Judeo-chrisitan,,,so Messianic Jews and Judeo-christian its same difference really ,,,Messianic Jews and Judeo-christian they have the same theology, same style of worship, they hang together alot, support Israel together and alot of judeo christian celebrate Jewish holidays as well. Seventh day Adventists is a good example

I am ecstatic that you have uncovered the truth of the cover up of the name. Although there is a play on the words Ahayah asher Ahayah and HaYah hu HaWAH (reduced to YA-hu-WAH through a series of linguistic bleeding rules), the name of the Creator is only partially derived from the "To Be" verb. So many names end in -yahu (Mattithyahu, Yeshayahu, Yermeyahu, for example) i see no reason for the -yahu suffix to become a Yeho- prefix. Maybe the o was an intentional error.

It's certainly enlightening for most people to know God's Name since it was removed from the Bible in over 6800 places and replaced with titles because of one the many dogmas and superstitions that developed within the Jewish Religious Leaders and Scribes. It's especially a pleasure to see a unbiased Jewish Scholar that has been involved in examining such ancient documents as the Dead Sea Scrolls to honestly relate his findings even though it upsets both the Jewish and almost all of Christianities teachings as far as who God is and who is not God ( Trinity). Unfortunately Christendom will continue to argue against actual evidence of mystery of the trinity. A guess because the trinity is just that , a mystery , we can never know what it is ( Mystery / unknowable) I would logically think that if God had his name placed into the Bible in over 6800 places and thousands of times more then the next most common name in the bible Jesus , that it shouldn't have been removed . You would also think that anyone professing Christianity would want to know this as well , this Jesus referred to God as his God and Father. He prayed to him and gave the example Lords Prayer saying that Gods name be hallowed.

Babylonian stones have the name pronounced IA-hu-du (Yahudu as referring to a singular person from "Judea"-Yahudah) The Melech-King Yehoiakin is in fact spelled (IA-u-kin) Yah-u-kin...The emphasis here is that prior to Babylonian, Pharisees used the name Yah for Yahudah, Yahudim, Yahrushalem, Yahukin, etc..After Babylon the leaders (Pharisees and/or Masoretes) banned the usage of the name Yah as written in (Tehillim 68:4) Would you think that scholars would leave the name or a hint of how it is pronounced when they are against it? I would say that the left a hint, but how to pronounce it but they inverted the vowels..YHVH with aoe inverted as eoa...YeHoVaH, when in reality it is YaHoVeH...Just my opinion..

Yah is simply a poetic shortened version of Yehovah, and sometimes even couled with the full name in a scripture. There is much more evidence for eoa since the last letter in the Tetragrammaton necessitates an ah sound at the end. Just one of the many reasons to trust that this arrangement is correct.

The problem with this is that Hebrew was a dead language for centuries. It has been brought back by heroic efforts, but some say it took too much from the western pronunciations. Yiddish sounds like Hebrew since it is an offshoot, but it has an Eastern sound to it. I am not a linguist, so have no opinion, but it could be argued, no they wouldn't know how to say the name.
