I would like to add one more thought, first I'm not telling anyone what to think or do. We as people of God are not to judge anyone, this includes Nehemia . Ones beliefs in Yeshua as Messiah is a personal belief, I have enough on my hands to walk the life that God has required let alone point out others mistakes. I believe in Yeshua and study the sages for their understanding of scripture, Nehemia is following in this vein of reasoning without man's intervention in to Torah .

@@lionofyahudah8737 I am with you in this/your understanding. Though I must admit that it's much more complexed. I only believe in the Scriptures of Moses (and second sources, the Prophets religiously). But I have doubts too. Also I love the Psalms. Personally I reckon myself as not a religious person in the modern understanding of this "therm". I have read in the entire Scripture as a "sound book" free for all to listen. kzbin.info I have read the Scriptures between maybe 50-100 times trough my lifetime, I don't have exact count. Usually I read through all Scriptures 3-7 or more times every year. The Scripture is my heart. It's my "guiding star" in written form. I listen to all. I learn from all (humans). But I don't believe in "them". I believe in The Eternal One only. "Learn from you teachers. Listen to your teachers. But don't believe in them blindly. Think for yourself and figure it out". Shalom be with you and yours.

This was an answer to 9 years of uncertainty, created by what people say. In my Spirit, I felt what people were saying, was distracting me from my personal relationship with our Creator. I have stepped away from all of it, since my son’s death last year, and I’ve asked for prayer. This is an answer to those prayers. Thank you Father, and thank you for this show. A few years ago I started going through them 613 laws and trying to figure out how accurate the list really is I found about a dozen that had absolutely nothing to do with the original verse that they were referencing. But now I know that I'm going to have to read the entire Bible from cover to cover to come up with a real list.

The answer to this question is irrelevant since nowhere in the bible does it say anything like " there were too many laws and they were too hard to keep, so Jesus kept them for us ". Quite the opposite, Jesus said " Do not think I have come to destroy the law " And " til heaven and earth pass away one jot and one tittle shall not pass from the law til all is fulifilled. " and " if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments ". And " whoever keeps even the least of these commandments and teaches others to do so shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven " He also said, " Why do you call me Lord and not do the things that i say ? Not everyone who calls me Lord will enter the Kingdom of Heaven but only those who do the will of my Father who is in Heaven " And, in the very last chapter of the Bible, it says " Blessed are they who keep the commandments, that they may have the right to enter in through the gates into the city and may eat from the tree of life. " People simply make things up in order to justify disobeying God instead of looking at what is plainly stated.

Christians have hidden this and destroyed these words of Yahusha and made an idol. ““Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Master, Master,’ shall enter into the reign of the heavens, but he who is doing the desire of My Father in the heavens. “Many shall say to Me in that day, ‘Master, Master, have we not prophesied in Your Name, and cast out demons in Your Name, and done many mighty works in Your Name?’ “And then I shall declare to them, ‘I never knew you, depart from Me, you who work lawlessness!’” ‭‭Mattithyahu (Matthew)‬ ‭7:21-23‬ ‭TS2009‬‬

Listening to this presentation has cleared up so many questions that I'd had since childhood regarding the 613 laws (teachings of the Rabbis). There are still so many areas that I need to reexamine in my understanding. I was brought up Church of God (7th day), which is now often referred to as COG7 when looking it up online. (There are many congregations by that name now following the break up of the WWCOG, after the passing of Herbert W. Armstrong, a friend of my grandfather, who previously had been with the COG7 before he started the WWCOG.) At any rate, we were taught that it was also a commandment saying that we should do all our work for the six days and then, the next part, was the commandment to rest on the Sabbath from all that six days of work. (also: Turning our foot from our own pleasure?) Fellow Christians would often agree that the (11th?) commandment was to love our God and fellow man. That through this love (from The Holy Spirit), we would no longer want to break the 10 commandments. But then it seemed there was only the one commandment they really thought was done away with or "nailed to the cross". To plug in any other commandment in place of the Sabbath, they certainly thought they were still valid. (example: they didn't think one should take God's name (Yehovah?) to have no meaning, shouldn't make Idols, lie, steal, kill, cheat on their spouse, disrespect our parents, covet anything from our neighbors, etc.) They wouldn't argue with the Nun (I overheard) saying the 1st day of the week was the Christian Sabbath. (Odd, but, in hindsight, knowing the pagan roots of the Christian mix now called Christianity, I tend to agree with her!) Early believers were obviously still keeping the 7th day Sabbath or they wouldn't have been called Judaizers (ie. Heretics) for continuing to keep the 7th day Sabbath or forbidden to watch for the New Moon. If early believers weren't still keeping the 7th day Sabbath, there would have been no need to make the Sunday Blue Laws 3 centuries into the CE. The early believers hid in caves and hid their scrolls as they feared for their very lives! What you helped me to see with the 613 laws is that some were basically to learn not the way of the Heathen because we love Yehovah! To me, that explains why we don't eat unclean meats or keep pagan holidays, no matter how they tried to Christianize them. I'm going to listen again to see if there are more pearls to behold. When we attended Beth Messiah, we loved that there were breaks where people could come and go. No one came to us saying they noticed we were late, left early, or missed a previous Sabbath. Any tithes or offerings were done privately in a back room. This was great when dealing with little kids. (My childhood had memories of the all-day meetings that would wear us out, too!) Thank You, Nehemiah! Thank you to the memory of Don Harris, who facilitated this episode for us, as well.

I love Nehemia. He is a great source for understanding the bible in correct wording and context. He derives this from his understanding of Hebrew, Greek, Jewish culture and history. However, because he is a Karite Jew, he understandably retains a predisposition toward a Jewish context rather than a spiritual appreciation of the new covenant context. We will unintentionally from time to time get truth mixed with error. Christians are required to rightfully divide the word of truth. I wish Nehemia long life and pray that he continues his work.

Far from doing away with the law, He showed that it is a matter of the heart as well as what we physically do, when he said " if you look upon a woman , in order to lust after her, you have committed adultery in your heart". If Noah knew clean from unclean, then we don't ignore the fact that God had already set apart certain animals as "food." God's word does not change. He doesn't nullify the definition of "food" to anyone, certainly not to Noah. What is missed in this story is that Noah and his family were to be on a specific diet while on the ark (Gen 6:21).. They were not allowed to eat anything but what they brought on the ark and stored. They were not allowed to kill any animal to eat it. After getting off the ark, the statement from God was about allowing them to kill/eat animals once again. But God had already told them which animal is "food". This statement is not a veto of which animals are clean/unclean. We don't find any person in the Bible eating an unclean animal sanctioned by God to do so. Which is why Isaiah's prophecy is true (Isaiah 66:15-17).

The ones that are excluded are duplicated ones and some others that aren't even cited (or can't be inferred) in the Torah. Also, if you don't want to break down a biblical quote into 3/4 commandments (as some of these have been done), the number can be much lower.

You guys are missing what Nehemiah is saying. He comes from rabbinical Judaism which has traditions taught as word of God. That’s why they have commandments on how to wear your shoes...so for him he’s saying he doesn’t go beyond what is written. That means yes God told Noah to get clean and unclean animals. But not once does it say do not eat them. On the contrary it actually says “Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you; even as the green herb have I given you all things.” ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭9:3‬ ‭KJV‬‬ The restrictions for this are “But flesh with the life thereof, which is the blood thereof, shall ye not eat. And surely your blood of your lives will I require; at the hand of every beast will I require it, and at the hand of man; at the hand of every man's brother will I require the life of man. Whoso sheddeth man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man.” ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭9:4-6‬ ‭KJV‬‬ All it says is no blood and no man. Show me where God said don’t eat unclean. Because that rule wasn’t given to him yet according to the text. It’s Noah’s choice to eat and he can choose to eat clean if he wants or eat unclean. None of you can show me from genesis 1-8 where it says he can’t eat it. All we know is Noah specifically sacrificed only the clean ones. So a more logical conclusion is that for sacrifice purpose noah made a distinction. But the command for eating does not have it

Like he said, god never told him not to eat it. God told him he can eat all meat. Clean and unclean look carefully at the text, is only being separated for sacrifice. Noah sacrifices the clean animals. Not the unclean. So it makes more sense that only for offerings to god, he didn’t offer the unclean. But when it comes to eating, god told him he gives him all meat just like all the green herbs and Trees.

@@theedenofgod5194 Ok. He certainly would've eaten the sacrifices, so why would he eat something deemed " unclean " ? Why would God later tell people, who were HIS people NOT to eat animals deemed unclean ? It's either clean or not clean and when God gave the law to Israel, He said unclean meat would defile them and make them abominable. Seems to me that it's inconsistent to tell Noah he could eat any meat, while calling some animals unclean and then to later tell Israel that unclean meat would defile them. I know, this is really a speculative topic, but it makes more sense that God is consistent and tells His people not to eat unclean things. It doesn't make sense that God would even call something unclean unless it was not to be eaten, much less to say it's ok then later say it isn't. What actually is VERY PLAIN here, is that God , at some point, had told people that some animals are unclean.... seems to me that there would be a reason for deeming them unclean and it makes more sense that He would deem them unclean for our benefit, not HIS. It isn't like sacrificing a pig to Him would give Him trichonosis. Clearly, he was given the ALL herbs as well, but some plants are poisonous. Also, for every two unclean animals, there were 14 clean animals. A logical explanation for this ratio would be that the unclean animals were not needed for food and therefore there wasn't a need for as many of them to go onto the ark.

The numerical value of the Hebrew word 'Torah' is 611. In addition, the Rabbi's added 2 to 611 (to make 613) that correspond to the two commandments that God spoke himself. Commandments 1 and 2 are the only commandments that are written in the first person tense, tradition maintains that this is because God only managed to speak two commandments. His voice was soo unsettling, the people had Moses interrupt God and stop before he could speak the third commandment: "The numerical value assigned to the letters of the word Torah is 611 not counting 'I Am' and 'you shall have no other God's' since these came from the mouth of the Almighty." Interesting how close Nehemia's interpretation on shabbat is to mine. It's a "day of REST," not a "day of WORSHIP" or "GATHERING". The only reason I've been going out of my way to meet with groups on shabbat lately is because I feel this is a point in history where developing personal connections with brethren is both paramount and very difficult, and the letter of the law does not allow that very well due to the nature of where I live and the schedules of most people involved. But hanging out at home or maybe a nearby friend's home is definitely more in line with what the intent of the text is as best as I can tell.

@@snowymountain9305 Shalom! In this case I was using "their" varied definition, which contextually means "to go to church/congregate/sing songs/read scripture", none of which are part of the shabbat commandments. Personally, from a strictly biblical perspective, I think worshipping the Creator means doing as He says first and foremost. Then, having the faith to stay true and trust Him on His word and benevolent plan despite whatever circumstances. Thus, keeping shabbat as commanded is certainly a key part of worshipping the creator, but imposing our other man-made ideas of "worship" over it and treating them as law, even at the expense of the actual commandments is not true worship. But it's usually simpler to argue the case using their own language and definitions than it is to get bogged down in an explaining how mine differ first. People would tend to get lost and disinterested by the time I get to making the point. In Adam's case, he was worshipping for as long as he was still obedient, and I think through the simple appreciation of creation and the lives he and Eve had been given to enjoy and manage it. Also, of course, through managing it as they were created to do. By fulfilling their divine purpose, essentially.
@SepticFuddy
@SepticFuddy 3 жыл бұрын
@@snowymountain9305 I tend to agree, though I sometimes define religion as you do and sometimes define it as simply faith, depending on whichever is easier to get my point across in conversation. Those verses are certainly the foundation that all the rest stand upon, though without the rest of the Torah we simply cannot know how to apply them practically. As I see it they are all inseparable as such. As an example, to love YHVH is to love one another, since we all bear His image. One way to love one another is not to steal from one another as in the 10 commandments. So in order to love YHVH, one must know not to steal as it is written, and then hold himself to that standard.
@SepticFuddy
@SepticFuddy 3 жыл бұрын
@@snowymountain9305 Only He knows the full answer to that. But clearly the purpose of the covenant was to set apart a people as a model for the relationship between Himself and mankind for the world to learn from, which necessarily means that the group would be limited somehow. A smaller, more limited group means tighter, more unified control over them, and thus less watering down of the message. As for why he chose to limit through Isaac and Jacob rather than just Abraham, only He knows exactly how that suited the plan better than the alternatives aside from mere numbers. One can only speculate, for as far as I can tell scripture does not give us a definitive answer.

Great interview though I think this is from many years ago. Got to disagree on Noah getting pig. I don't think they ate meat at all for many, many years, except for the initial thanksgiving sacrifice when they came off the ark. Animals had just suffered a severe bottle neck event - the last thing any rational animal breeder would do would be to kill breeding stock for food. And for unclean animals, all they had was one breeding pair. Eat one and that's an extinction event.

Clean, Unclean, Don't assume food. Clean means acceptable for sacrifice, Unclean means "not" acceptable for sacrifice. So yes Noah may have eaten pig. What was the law added as a punishment for the transgression/sin of the golden calf? Gal. 3;19. It's not the 10 commandments, they were in place before Moses was born, and told orally by Yehovah before they made the golden calf. Time must be kept in context of when the event happened. Kosher food law didn't happen until after the golden calf sin, it was a punishment with an end. Moses pleaded with God Ex. 32; 31-35. A punishment was to be given, this was "after" the golden calf sin. What was the Law added after the golden calf transgression (Galatians 3;19)? Leviticus 12, the dietary Law. Few catch this and understand.

That means if the Shabbos is violated it can be a violation of both the written and oral torahs. G-d would not give a death sentence for violating something that was not clearly understood by those who are expected to keep it. During Noah's time men were vegetarians. It was not until after the flood did man and animals eat meat. But no regulation was given on what animals could be eaten. It was not until the Mosaic Law was given that the regulation what meat should be eaten was given by Jehovah. As noted in Genesis 9:3, 4 Jehovah gave the command to Noah "Every moving animal that is alive may serve as food for YOU. As in the case of green vegetation, I do give it all to YOU. 4 Only flesh with its soul-its blood-YOU must not eat."

To YOU let it serve as food. 30 And to every wild beast of the earth and to every flying creature of the heavens and to everything moving upon the earth in which there is life as a soul I have given all green vegetation for food.” It was not until after the flood that Noah was given the regulation noted in Genesis 9:3, 4 by Jehovah. Nowhere prior to that does it state that anyone ate meat. Now, it does state in Genesis 4:2, 3 that Abel was a herder of sheep and that he provided a sacrificial offering to Jehovah of a lamb but it does not state that the lamb was eaten for food. More than likely the herd of sheep was to provide the wool for clothes and the milk for food.

@@alvinford6522 The earth was not cursed again after the flood. The Initial curse from the Garden of Eden was still in effect. Actually, a cleansing (baptism) had taken effect at the time of the flood where all wickedness had been destroyed and only Noah and his family were saved. It can be likened to what happened during the time of Moses crossing the Red Sea with the multitude of people and animals - all who had survived and were liberated from bondage from Egypt. After the flood a new beginning started and the selecting of where and through whom the promised seed spoken of at Genesis 3:15 would begin to take place. Hebrews chapter 11, from the Christian Greek Scriptures, speaks of a great cloud of faithful witnesses who are written in the TANAKH that "died although they did not get [fulfillment of the] promises, but saw them afar off and welcomed them and publicly declared that they were strangers and temporary residents in the land" ... "awaiting the city having real foundations, the builder and maker of which [city] is God"... "Hence God is not ashamed of them, to be called upon as their God, for he has made a city ready for them" "the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God and prepared as a bride adorned for her husband" - "Mount Zion and a city of (the) living God, heavenly Jerusalem" (Hebrews 11:9, 10, 13, 16; Revelation 21:2; Hebrews 12:22). Jesus of Nazareth is the promised seed foretold in Genesis 3:15 who came from the line of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob (Matthew 1:1-16; Luke 3:23-38). The one whom was foretold as appointed by YHWH God as King of the Kingdom of God at Daniel 2:44 and Psalm 2:6; 110:1.

Because you have rejected the word of Jehovah, he has rejected you from being king.” Did the leaders of Israel before, followed God's law prior to Jesus's sacrifice, to be not subjected to sin? Do the modern Jew practice of God's worship now followed Jesus's new covenant of Christian guidelines established by his disciples with God's holy spirit? Did the literal return of Israel in her motherland was a direct blessing from God, or by the hands of UN and the Rothschilds? The Israel's Proclamation of Independence issued in Tel Aviv in 1948, without mention of God's name, says it all. Some of the questions that blinded faith.
