In this episode of Hebrew Voices, Why Study Hebrew, Bible Scholar Nehemia Gordon talks with Rabbi Dr. David Moster about the richness of meaning in the original language, how a knowledge of biblical Hebrew allows you to interact directly with the ancient text, and how some words can be translated in a fascinating variety of ways.

Yitzchaq (יִצְחָק Isaac) has an alternative spelling יִשְׂחָק (Yischaq) in Psalm 105:9, which also occurs in Psalm 2:5, He that sitteth in the heavens SHALL LAUGH. Now Psalm 2:5 can be read differently as, “He that sitteth in the heavens, ISAAC”!!!!! This is “heavenly Isaac” of course, as the Kabbalists say there is a heavenly Yisrael. St.Paul was basically using this word play in Galatians 3:16 to conclude all Abrahamic promises were made to his singular seed which is Christ, for in Isaac shall thy seed be called (Genesis 21:12). Btw, the alternative spelling of Isaac comtains Shin-Chet-Qof, the acronym of Sheva Cholam Qamatz, the vowels of YEHOVAH!!!!

I've been trying to study Hebrew but I'm being held back by so many people!! I have no space of my own to escape to.. I'm so frustrated. It's like everything and everyone around me is so earthly and walking so fleshly! They do not want me to excel in anything that might be something they haven't done. Grrrrrrr🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

I dowloaded a Biblical Hebrew/Greek Interlinear bible app on my phone, and it was either free or cost a couple dollars. Also there is the Israel Institute of Biblical Studies and that costs a good chunk of change. Like $100 per month, but you will learn a lot!

Hi Brother, here is some advice I've given before: if you want to get started with learning Hebrew you can get two college level beginning courses on line for very little money and/or for FREE. Order the "Basics of Biblical Hebrew" by Miles V. Van Pelt, I paid about $100.00 for the complete package which included: a textbook, workbook, vocabulary index cards, video with all the classes and a pocket grammar guide. Also you can get the complete pdf material for The Master's Biblical Institute beginners Hebrew course on line for free and watch the lectures on you tube. This should be more than enough to get you started on learning Hebrew. Good Luck, sincerely Paul

Miles van Pelt, Gary Pratico that was recommended earlier is a great introductory. I used several. Hebrew came very easy to me and is in majority a very easy language to learn. I suggest watching videos on the letters first, then supplementing actual bible study videos online with an interlinear as you look through the grammar. I would not use a grammar alone. The grammar alone will be highly intimidating when in reality it isnt. Gesenius is the standard, but will be too much for a beginner. Id say 80pct of Hebrew can be figured out within a couple of months. The next twenty will take a couple of years to fine tune your skills. Good luck.

@35:00 You mention acrostic as if it is uncommon and only a Jewish idea, it is not. Acrostics are used all over the internet as a form of secret communication, like in the KZbin comments section. As a memory aid for actors and actresses trying to memorize a script. There are variations on the acrostic, where there are missing letters, either vowels or the implied use of letter groups like “ie” or “es” as examples. Sometimes the acrostic is formed from the subconscious, unknown to the conscious individual. Possessed individuals use the acrostic at such speed the normal individual doesn’t realize the hidden content until later examination.

The Stone is the Mashiaj. Stone in hebrew is "אבן" The word Father is אב, the Word Son is בן. And the unity of the Father and the Son is the Word Stone, אבן. Yeshua is the Stone, He is the Mesiah, and thats why if you don't belive in the Son, you don't belive in The Father. Yeshua HaMashiaj is the Lord for ever, for God be the glory for ever!

In your example of Genesis 3:5, eloheem is prefaced with a Kaff. Kaff is an open palm, and can mean to offer, to present, or to receive what is being given.

The Masorite text omitted 780 years from B'resheet 11: 12 - 24. The Dead Sea Scrolls are more authentic than the Prushim produced Masorite texts.

Is it true that the administration doesn't actually answer questions here? I like what he said, "The puns are fruitful". The idea that, "The question can have more function than an answer",is so cool. What was said at the ending was powerful, sometimes you don't know what you don't know. In a similar regard sometimes you don't know what you do know.

Acrostics in English are used to encode messages. There are obvious ones and their are variations to make decipherment more difficult. One variant provides some but not all of the secret message letters, leaving it up to the decipherer to supply what is missing to complete the message. Actors and actresses use the first letter of every word to memorize scripts. We use acronyms all the time. Wtf, lol, lmao. The Pre-Septuagint, the intermediary between the Hebrew text of the Second Temple and the Septuagint, is an attempt to preserve the pronunciation of Hebrew using Greek letters, a method of transliteration. This was the earliest, the Alexandrian Jewish method or idea, in order to preserve a unique definitive pronunciation of the Second Temple Scroll. This idea eventually became Nikkud instead of using foreign letters. יאבק Yode - hand or arm Aleph - Ox, Head, Leader Beyt - House, Homes, Tents Qoof - Light, Beam or Ray, To Shine The leader of the house, often interpreted as father, AB. Qoof, as To Shine, could be a reference to a Shining One. Yode - while many may see this as a reference to God, the hand, it can also be a reference to one who is sent. Moses was the hand of EEYAH, because he received the word of EEYAH and his hand wrote it down. When you study Leviticus and the lectures of Moshee, when you write them down for yourself, you are now the hand of Moshee, see.

In the case of the Mi Chamocha and many others, would it be useful to be reminded of the context at the time of the writings? The Israelites had just left Egypt after two centuries surrounded by a polytheistic society, and in the Promised Land where they were or were going, they would also be surrounded by similar idol worshipping peoples... so YHVH reminds them constantly that He is the only God because they need to be reminded due to their circumstances.

Why are you holding back on telling the world that Yehoshua Mashiach is Lord and not LORD? That he is Dueteronomy 18:18 and John 12:49 FULLFILLED! Stop the spread of Trinity and the spread of pagan holidays. Ask a normal Christian if they know who YHVH Is? They dont! Most Christian's dont know EL They truly believe an idol sun as El. EliYah would speak up and say to them " you call on your God and ill call on mine" SAME ALTER DIFFERENT NAME Names matter amd when you break it down jesus does not translate back to Yehoshua or to Exodus 3:14-15 False messiahs will arise! and we see them created in each branch of christianity. Photo of him and all! Idol idol idol, unlawful, heathens explained by Jeremiah 10:1-5 You were great on the name! And now when the two witnesses are sent to proclaim all the false ways of the heathens, make sure you are not found supporting their ways. Shalom

Y'all is singular as a collective. Its a contraction of you all. It refers to a plural, or as mentioned as a collective singular. Genesis 1:29 Lakem yihyeh le'aklah To you it shall be for food. This shows a sigular you in english for the plural lakem. It implies Adam as an individual male, when its referring of the human collectively as male and female in Hebrew. In the south, you would say To y'all it shall be for food. Gramatically this is more correct than "you", whether or not merriam websters or the masses adopt the word. Even if you translate it, they shall be yours, you still have the same issue. Y'all is kosher, lol
