Mr Tharoor is spot on when he talks about shrinking vocabulary in modern India. During the 70s and 80s ,journalistic standards were much higher and it wasn't uncommon for one to come across sesquipedalian words such as Rodomontade, Farrago, Potpourri, Perspicacious, Braggadocio etc especially if you have read the sports columns in the "The Hindu" group of publications or "India Today". So, I wasn't a wee bit surprised when I read his tweets but little did I realize these words were too exotic for modern day Indians despite the ubiquity of the internet. Judging by the various comment sections, Mr .Tharoor seems to have a cult following, mostly comprised of millennials. At this rate, it wouldn't be surprising if Tharoorosaurus effectively supplants Roget's Thesaurus as the leading resource for synonyms and antonyms.

Sad to see Amish unnecessarily centralizing the conversation on classical mythology when the korero was specifically designed for experiencing insights on Tharoor’s smorgasbord of eclectic words. He should’ve followed this approach on Tharoor’s other mythology-related books. Hope he reviews the conversation and ameliorates the same in his future parleys.

@ankitabose21394 жыл бұрын
Can someone please explain me why we do still revere this person?
@anirudhtamret71404 жыл бұрын
Ankita Bose Reverence is a very subjective phenomenon. People rever bizarre things in life, let alone a human being. Indians have historically been enamoured to fluent english as a sign of colonial sorcery. A sense of inferiority from people (historically white colonialists) has imbued from generations which makes it pretty palpable that large swathes of the population are attracted to polished and exquisite english skills. Tharoor (by using catchy and singable words) has garnered this reputation by playing on (not directly perhaps) this innate obsession towards the same.

@@anirudhtamret7140 You really couldn't sense the euphemism in my question?

Let me try summing up a few words from the eloquent vocabulary of Dr. Shashi Tharoor into one contemporary objective situation: An exasperating "farrago"😜 being created by a "panglossian" journalist in his "gonzo" style which appears to be "floccinaucinihilipilificated" and giving him an emotional "lalochezia", which is patently "rodomontade" as he seems "esurient" for the TRPs bolstering "snollygoster" politicians working in a "kakistocracy". Hence, a "defenestration" must be adhered to or someone needs to give him a Munna Bhai "cwtch".🤣 Feel free to criticize me as it is the backbone of "democracy" as we are "agathokakological" 🤣🤣😂😂 Phew!! Please comment your favourite word.😂 I was pretty "scripturient" to write this up!😂
