Story three: NTA. I don’t get the commenters arguments that OP is a bad dog owner, yes I understand that Akita’s are protective, but, they are also very intelligent and while stubborn, with the proper training it can be done so that they can be walked off-leash and won’t go off on everything that goes near their owner. OP had Mickey since she was nine and possibly younger, Mickey has been doing this for a very long time and it is likely that he’s so used to this that nothing really bothers him. It sounds like he is a friendly dog because he willingly left his yard with a stranger and I’m sure that if Mickey was protective he would not have like a stranger walking into his yard and taking him from his yard and home. Not every Akita is the same, so it was presumptuous for the commenter to assume that their Akita’s were the same as OP’s Akita.

Yes, make a police report about your neighbor and your dog, she knew the dog was yours as you told her. She had no good reason to go onto your property and take your dog. Get your dog microchipped and a lock on your gate. I would put up a couple cameras as well. Also walk your dog on a leash, you are no longer a child and your dog should be on a leash. It is what is best for your dog and for you. It will help protect you and your dog from law suites that can happen if you come across someone who is afraid of dogs for any reason. I wish you the best in the future. Having your dog on a leash could save you from a lawsute.

Lol, so she's upset her birthday is ruined and she was mostly ignored for a HUGE milestone because her brother decided his rat was more important? No! She has every right to feel ignored and pushed aside! Since when do we tell kids their valid feelings don't matter because of someone else's feelings?
@swaginton11803 жыл бұрын
when it comes to the second story I do feel it's NTA not because what she said was kicking her down, but more so because it seemed like the wife was personally deflecting, trying to pin all the blame on him for being so stubborn and not giving up on this when this was a clear and set dealbreaker for him if this part of the relationship could not be met. I would have personally said something along the lines of "don't blame this entire thing on him, you two are just incompatible and he did pretty much make himself extraordinarily clear that having bio kids is a must for him."
@bluedragonfly81393 жыл бұрын
I mean, if my sister didn't want kids and then got into a relationship and suddenly started changing her mind, I'd actually ask her why. Maybe that's because I know how annoyingly common it is for people who want kids to get into a relationship and wait for/convince the other person to change their mind, no matter how clear said person is on not wanting kids. Personally, I think the sister should have broken up with him when she realized they were at an impasse, but people do stupid things when they're in love.

I don't get the YTA/ESH comments for the divorce story. OP watched their sister mislead the husband (even if she was initially willing to have a baby but changed her mind, she should have told her HUSBAND that and not kept it to herself) despite knowing what he's already been through. And now that her house of cards has crumbled down around her, OP has to watch the family put all the blame on him and none on her; of course they snapped! Anyone probably would, because it's not "kicking her while she's down" so much as reality check. I mean, given what we've learned of the sister's personality in this story, can you imagine what kind of story she's going to start spinning to friends and family once it hits her that it's really over? It will be all about saving face, and OP let her know that there's at least one person who's not buying it.

@@wmdkitty @Shawna Burt At first, yes, but I think that's more because he was ready to start a family and didn't want to waste time in a relationship that couldn't offer him that, so of course he wanted to make sure the option was on the table before investing in the relationship. She wasn't FORCED to do anything, she could have said it's a dealbreaker and walked away, but didn't. Instead she kept changing her tune until she got called on it, and now she's playing the victim. You know full well if a guy did that to a girl people would lose their minds, and there was another comment on that story that also made good point; he's what, 40 now? In order to date someone that could still offer him bio kids he'd likely have to look for someone almost 10 years younger than him, which is definitely going to look weird to some. And why did this happen? Because one woman cheated and the other was more interested in telling him what he wanted to hear instead of admitting they wanted different things. Any way you look at it, this guy gets screwed and all they got was dumped. But yeah.. let's blame him. 🙄

I haven't even finished listening to story 4 and I have a YTA judgement. As a rat owner, I know just how awful it is to lose our ratty fur babies. When I lost my first rat I was devastated and when my second rat died in my arms I was howling emotion and pain. For her to be so selfish and entitled disgusts me and this would be something I cut contact over. Whether you like rats or not, they are this man's pets and his fur babies. He deserves respect and empathy, just like any one else who is grieving the loss of a dog or family member. I doubt the brother would see, but congrats for getting a rat to live to four years. That's a huge achievement and he must be such an amazing owner.

What I'm trying to say is that although the birthday is literally the only day of the year a person is entitled to make about oneself, this will not always be the case. This year will be my big four-oh. I just hope everyone will be healthy. Sorry for the rant, and sorry if it sounds odd. English is not my... You know how it goes, lol.

Story four really hurt, OP is 100 % TA. I’ve had two rats before and they’re very sweet and intelligent creatures, so it sucks to hear people think they’re “” just rats “” when they’re practically small dogs based on intelligence and emotional capability. Rats bond very closely with their owners, so having a rat for four years is a huge deal as it was probably as attached to the brother as he was to it. Having to give away my two rats due to moving was one of the most painful experiences I’ve had to go through, so I really sympathize with the brother. Animal loss is very painful, him shutting himself away is probably the best thing for him to cope. OP will have plenty of birthdays, but they only have one brother and they need to support him during times like this.

Final story: I understand the OP is a teen and still learning to handle life situations but yes they are a huge AH. A pet whether it’s a dog, cat, bunny, rat, etc is loved as a family member and a little empathy would go a long way towards their brother. Until I met a good friend in uni, I never understood how much a person could love a rat. He treated his rats like royalty and while their lifespan isn’t much more than 4 years they were the best kept pets I’ve ever met. He bottle fed most when they were little, sewed special poches into sweaters so they could cuddle in and go outside safely with him and would educate anyone interested about his rats.
