You know how there's a carbon crisis and a massive drought and alarming levels of global warming? You know what we use most of our water on? Lawns. You know what happens when you clear all the deep root shade bushes and weeds so a lawn can look nice? The soil can't hold as much water, and the microbes in the soil that would otherwise be handling all the bio waste, they die out and stop turning that waste into carbon in the ground. You're part of the problem homie. Life is carbon. You are chopping up carbon nuggets and letting them gas off in the atmosphere, by the ton if business is booming. What is supposed to happen is all that biowaste should be consumed by animals, sht on the ground, and then consumed by worms, sht in the ground, and then consumed by bacteria and fungus, and then when they die, their corpses are pushed down, so all the carbon stays in the ground. And bonus that same system holds water like moss. But not if you kill all the bushes, and weeds, to expose a clean cut lawn. Then the lawn with it's shallow roots and no shade, it need constant watering to stay green. HOA's are criminal organizations destroying the future of all humanity for the sake of visual conformity. And if you actually cared for your property, or your own life, and that of all children yet to be born, you might change careers and start encouraging permaculture and wild ecosystem development. Instead of helping idiots continue to destroy the planet to meet delusional standards their war torn and lead poisoned grandparents programmed into their brains. Nobody taught you this. It's not your fault. But now you know. Learn how to turn what you do into a solution. And don't take my word for it. Just google the carbon cycle, and water saving methods of land management. You can make even more money and start being a solution instead of the problem. You just need to learn how to create a healthy ecosystem that looks pretty and incorporate that into your landscaping and business model. Life is a carbon battery. You have the skills to be charging it up. You just need to change your perspective a little bit. Your customers will go out of their way and come out their wallets to thank you. Also I double dog mfkn dare you. Have a good one homie.

Ok, well let me be extremely respectful: I LOVE that there are great, kind, and compassionate people out there, but I am also aware that many, MANY will take advantage of kindness. Ok, my point: this family, owner whatever - obviously can afford to pay utilities and taxes - food and so forth, so why can't they HIRE a lawn maintenance company or hire a neighbor, or buy a lawn mower and take care of the grass (and area) themselves? Why? This property did not become, the mess that it is, overnight: this mess has occurred over time. Turf Ninjas are good people, perhaps great people, but they may be being abused and used. I'm sorry if I offend anyone; that's not my intent: my intent is simple - Turf Ninjas should be COMPENSATED for what they did. Turf Ninjas deserve a huge thumbs up - but they also deserve to be fully, and appropriately compensated. From my perspective, these, this homeowner (whatever) needs to step up, get the cash-out and COMPENSATE Turf Ninjas. If these people won't do what is right, then the neighbors should work together and anti up to pay Turf Ninjas. I hate, despise USERS! Users are everywhere, in every facet of life - good-for-nothing lice. Great job Turf Ninjas!!

HOAs are run by tinpot Mussolinis. Power mad, they probably were Hall Monitors in their schooldays. In most states, people already have the federal, state, county, and town governments to contend with. Why add another layer of government? What’s the benefit? If God did not intend for them to be sheared, He would not have made them sheep.
@jarvindriftwood

Yeah some HOAs start fining the person over stuff like this. When the fines are so much they can take a lien on the house and foreclose it. And often someone on the HOA board or their family is a real estate agent. Guess it's a good racket to run if they have no morals and want to feel like they're back in high school bullying people.

A neighbor was going through chemotherapy. The couple on one side cut 'their side' of his lawn, the family on the other side cut 'their side of his lawn.' What an HOA should be is a group of people who live in a community and look after each other. NOT an enforcement organization. If you see that someone's yard is looking neglected, don't jump them with a fine. Check to see if they are sick, injured, lost a spouse, suffering from depression and so on . Then help them if they need help, form a group within the HOA to help them out. Many hands make quick work. This way the neighborhood looks nice and the area is peaceful and friendly. We all need a little help sometime. Be kind to one another, you may be the next one to need help. TNLC - thank you. The world needs more people like you! ❤

You sound like either an older gen X or a boomer like myself, when you mentioned about what was available at the time (prior to at least the 1980s). All we had back then was a push mower pair of snipers, a handsaw and pruning shears. Then some might have a pole lopper with a rope pull for trimming/removing high branches. My dad was a tree trimmer, so he had one of those that he'd gotten through his work. The other comment poster apparently didn't grow up in that time period.

Beautiful work. It would seem you weren't harassed by the HOA, (this time). I can see where it may have started out as a good idea for people to have to follow certain guidelines to keep their property maintained and not be painting their houses some gawd awful color like puce, but they ended up going way overboard and taking it to an extreme that gives it the reputation of being a bunch of power hungry busybodies who think harassing whoever the H they want to is within their rights. If I had been you, I'd have told them to stick it where the sun don't shine. The lady recently lost her husband, so no one knows what she is going thru. The last thing she probably cares about is kissing the HOA's backside. Instead of b*tching, why isn't someone seeing if she needs help? You are a good man.

Arizona is rife with HOA's. I think they are a scam. Plenty of neighborhoods survive just fine without them. With that said, I moved to AZ about 4 years ago and couldn't find a house that was for sale that wasn't either too run down or old for my needs or in a crappy neighborhood. So, here I am, forking over money every month for nothing more than a park I never use and some landscaping.

I used to work as a foreman gardener for an HOA over here in England.One of their board members used to open her front door and an overweight dog on expanding leash would wobble out, then crap on the lawn i was cutting and go back in, then the front door would close. I once, on seeing this, sneaked over and gently trowelled the dogshit back onto the front doorstep and hid behind the bushes on the other side of the lawn. Not long afterwards, out come Mrs. Pain-in-the-neck, only to step on said gift. She screamed, flew back indoors and i could hear shouting from where i was laughing, trying not to pis myself. However it did have the desired effect as the dog never crapped on that lawn again. We had been known to refuse to cut lawns due to the amount of dogshit on them. I know of two people who went blind in one eye due to Toxicara Cannii, a bug carried in dogs mess, which causes blindness in humans. HOAs generally are run by power crazy people who were mollycoddled or spoilt as kids and are probably anally retentative. This happened in the late 1970s.

HOA is doing its job. The problem of the HOA trying to find out "what's wrong" is if you don't do that for everyone for every time a notice goes out. You will be rightfully accused of showing preference to people. Actually our lawyers for the HOA do not want the board ever reaching out unless we can make sure we reach out to every person for every little thing. Its the homeowner that needs to go to the HOA and explain the reason of who/what/when/where/why. We also said that at every board meeting that if you have problems/issues please make contact with the board or management company. Document, document, document. Been on a 3 different HOA boards for years, I am human and most of the time I will lets things slide, will let charitable organizations know (if you wish), and will forgive issues provided I know what's going on. But you have to come to me/management (email/phone/letter) in order to know/help from an HOA perspective. Once it goes to the lawyers (months later), or even court I am not in a position to help anymore. Because then you went from fees that have little or not cost to actual hard cost lawyer fees that I cant "forgive". Late notices, fines, and even HOA dues I can delay/clear but lawyer/documentation/court fees are actual hard costs. HOA's board members are not mind readers, and we have had people quit mowing for reasons of "its hot" or "my mower quit and everyone else is too expensive", or "my lawn mower died 9 weeks ago". Just because they quit upkeep doesn't mean anything is wrong. That's why you must go to them (hoa/management) and inform them of something is wrong. It wasn't fun telling my HOA I lost my job and it was either feed my self or pay dues, and well I like to survive. But I did tell them and they allowed me to pay 6 months late with zero fees. (No I had not been a board member before this)
