Tom has this way of morphing his voice to this deep mix of Neil’s, his own and Batman that feels like Morpheus’s speech bubbles turned directly into sound - he’s superb. It’s exactly the voice I hear in my head reading the comics.

I was thinking the opposite hahah! I always feel like Britain doesn't have enough actors on TV or film cuz they're always the same. I mean we see people from Doctor Who, Game of Thrones, Harry Potter, Ted Lasso - some of the biggest shows. And I'm not complaining, they are fantastic actors. I just find it funny. And I do love it when someone less known shows up, and can stand their ground side by side with these better know, massive talents.

I love that Neil knew from the very beginning that Tom was Morpheus, like he said its very rare for an studio to immediately know they have their actor in that first batch of auditions Tom is such an eloquent, passionate and intelligent individual who is able to portray a love for Neil's work and Dreams story in such a mesmerising way. The passion he puts in is so crystal clear to see. Its incredible. Netflix needs to renew, so we can see this incredible Lord of Stories, Dreams and Nightmares continue on his path of change

I power watched every episode TWICE and had unfortunately never seen Tom in anything before. To say that he EXCEEDED my enormous expectations is an understatement! Morpheus is beautiful, scary, gentle, aggressive, haunted, just…..EVERYTHING I had expected and more! This production did such perfection towards the written material that Tom seriously felt like a creature than a person in a show. There are simply not enough gracious things that I can say about this show’s excellence 😍🙌🏼

Me too. I wasn't aware of Mr Sturridge before The Sandman. Now I'm going back watching the tv shows and movies he's been in. I say Tom is the perfect person to play Dream/Morpheus. Can't see anyone else replacing him. It they do, I ain't gonna watch this show anymore. As Neil Gaiman said: it's Tom, we know it's Tom. You got that right Neil. Can't wait for season 2.

Tom has a really cool soothing voice, I love how he portrayed Dream it reminds me of how Charlie cox portrayed Matt/Daredevil. Both created characters that are vulnerable but intimidating and the same time. And they use very interesting voices. I can seriously listen to their characters talk for hours and hours 😌

"Stop being Batman" that was hilarious, Tom did incredible job with his voice acting, not for a second I thought of Batman while watching Sandman, haha :D if anything there was a one moment when I though of Thomas Shelby from Peaky Blinders, but that was just a split second, Tom Sturridge created something unique.

Did the original drawing artists (Sam Kieth and Mike Dringenberg) of The Sandman use Neil Gaiman as inspiration for Morpheus? The messy hair, the thin face, the way you can see his brain work before he answers anything, like he has a million answers ready and just have to pick one, because he has thought about all of it before. And of course; "King of Stories", it's a fitting title for Mr. Gaiman, no?

Traditionally they turned to musicians for inspiration (apart from Death) - f.e. there's a picture of Desire that basically looks like a photo of Annie Lennox. But the costume designers have already shown a sense of humour, so I'd imagine they presented Gaiman with a Mini-me one day :D

I think the whole story of Dream needing to change after he was imprisoned and then returned to a very different world is especially relevant to what we're currently facing today. The world is changing quickly, and our dreams must change too.

Regarding eveything Morpheus says should feel like it's etched in stone, because he's seen it all and is so sure of what he says: Because of that, the character really felt old to me without being pretentiously heavy despite his young looks. I think Tom did a great job of that. Nailed it.

This show is really going under the radar for a lot of people, the marketing for it is so far really bizarrely low key. audible adaptation had a far better marketing than what this is going with. I am not sure it has any audience waiting for it aside from some very devoted fans. Hope this changes soon

I am so excited for this show and am glad they have Neil in this. back in literature class we did a whole class on the first book of the Sandman and i loved every single minute of it, the internal conflict, the change through the eyes of time. I am watching this interview to confirm if he really has that pout naturally. My husband and I watched the series and we noticed how he talks and even started joking around talking with a pout. He did an excellent job, it’s funny how I felt bad for his character and loved him because he was captured but then when he escapes and has that one track brain and he doesn’t listen, I didn’t like him and at the end, he starts to listens after he finds out the betrayal of his sibling, I started to love him again. So as an actor if you can do that I think you are an excellent excellent actor and very good at what you do.

To Neil, Thank you for letting us know about Morpheus and the process of the show. Really worried it was just The Sandman in name only like most adaptations. To Tom, You seem very nervous but excited. I liked what you said and the way you say it. You seem to be a very dedicated actor. I also intuit you to be the right person. Quite spooky, yes. I can relax, get ready and excited for the release of the show. Thank you!

i love that neil was SO patient to finally bring this comic series to the screen. first issue was, what.. 88? (myself being an 89-baby) O happpy he finally got to do his version ( "more than american gods, less than good omens") for the screens! if you don't like the oldie-stylie comicversion PLEEEEASE listen to the audioplay with james mcavay as dream!!!!

I believe in this show and Want it to be the BIGGEST thing of all time. Hopefully they are as faithful to the source as they were in the Audio Drama, obviously I know they will and have made changes 😉 I'm just choosing to be hopeful.

I was a bit disappointed that James McAvoy wasn't playing Morpheus as he did such a fantastic job in the audiobook, but Sturridge looks great in the teaser. I can't remember having been so excited for something to come out in a while.

I love James, he is an amazing actor, but he does not look the part. He is a gorgeous man, but too corky and short, he doesn't have the elegance that is needed to play Morpheus... And I am a HUUUGE McAvoy fan, but I think Tom looks perfect for the part.

im so happy with how absolutely brilliant and beautiful the show turned out. I couldn't have asked for a better adaption of one of my favourite comics of all time
