the thing about neil is that he knows his punctuation rules perfectly and is incredibly talented at giving attention to certain parts and sentences.

they're not laughing because it's funny. they're laughing because he's so blunt. not many poets are this honest.

Listening to a Neil Hilborn poem is always a journey through a huge variety of assumptions and opinions and emotions, and by the end of it you've understood the point and he packs that final emotional punch of meaning in the last line. He's really an incredible poet!

the part about the "punk show" and how it's just a room filled with depressed kids who forget they're depressed for at least a minute reminded me of my twenty one pilots concert. damn.

They're laughing because they don't know how to process scenarios like that unless they've experienced it. The natural reaction is laughter for most people. They're not being disrespectful or anything, I'm sure it's actually really resonating with it, it's just a way to adjust themselves to it (:

Bianca Batten Laughter is not only a matter of comfort and diversion. We could say that's more of a smile. Laughter is surprise. Is the unexpected. I have been laughing after the first punch in a fight, just because of how shocking it was. I think this is the same situation. Those lines are punches, and the public is so shocked they can't avoid laughing hysterically.

you are missing the point entirely, the fact that in order to have the justice system be your "friend" you have to change yourself and conform to it is oppression. All Winston had to do was love big brother, was he not oppressed?
