Most slam poetry revolves around a specific tragic story or a "screw you!" statement to some aspect of society, and there's nothing wrong with that, but it's refreshing to watch a poem like this that's simply exciting, joyful, and humorous.

I don’t know if when he was performing this one poem at this one time that he knew he was cementing himself in literary history that little bit more than he already was. But that makes me very happy. Idk, it’s 5am. This means a lot to me. Love to you all.

I just googled "poetry, make out with the toaster" to find this 😂 I heard him perform it years ago, thought he was some adorable local lumberjack/my future husband at the time. I was discussing open mic poems I've actually really liked w a friend and had a small hope it was out there. Ah internet, you precious gift, thank you for your yield! I shall now go make the customary sacrifices...

Dear Neil Hilborn, If you ever read this please do not think I'm a psycho. I realize that I know your voice by heart. I've listened to your pieces so much that I find myself mouthing some of the words. I plan to get your book, as soon as I'm done with the Stephenie Meyer, Lilly Singh and Steven King... I'm an avid reader and I have a variety of genres that I love. Anyway, tonight I realized that some nights I'm able to sleep better when I listen to you, you're relaxing. Like I said, do not think I'm a psycho. Onto "Dear Creationist" Yours Sincerely/Truly, Candice.
