Love this song! Ode to our dog Bao Bao, I had a dog named bao bao , best old rescue dog I ever did have... Bao Bao took a flight from Shanghai, He was a pup and he didn't know.... He was rescued from a truck in first gear, next stop could have been the bbq.. Marja saw him at bark in the park , put her dad into high gear... Next thing you know the little spaniel was parked in ta home... Bao Bao went a running after cats, growled at big dogs and ate good bites. That tibetian spanial is still a story, not history!!!

24 years ago a young boy siting on the bench seat of a 1976 F100 noticed as hishis father popped in a cassette. This song came thru those old speakers and the boy and his Father drive out to the river for a day drive. First time this boy heard the sound of Neil Young and when he became a father he played this same song for his daughter. That Boy was Me. So many memories of that old cassette deck and that old Silver F100. Love You Dad

Maybe try searching a list of concerts that Neil played between 1992 and 1994, since "King" was on _Harvest Moon_ which was released in November 1992. This album was almost universally praised as his big comeback, and it put Neil back on the map as far as popular music was concerned. Doesn't surprise me that he ended up playing with Emmylou after the album's release. I'll take a minute and look for you since it interests me too.

Well, I didn't find anything…not yet. I'm determined to solve this mystery. It looks like it was shot on videotape instead of film - the former is used for TV and the latter for movies - so I'm thinking this is broadcast footage that was possibly turned into a DVD. My guess is this was a special feature on a TV station, possibly Canadian. What's strange is that _nothing_ I've found shows Emmylou and Neil playing together around 1992-1994. Too bad Neil's not active on social media like his old bandmate David Crosby - we could just ask him, heh! Oh well… It's out there somewhere.

As a guitarist I am intrigued by the banjo Neil is playing as it has a 6 string guitar neck and is in an alternate tuning does anyone know anything about it?

Rob Davis I was just noticing it.. I think it's basically tuned and played like a guitar, and just has the banjo body.. I think I remember a video by a KZbin guitar instructor, named *Marty Schwartz,* where he was showing off one that he acquired. You can probably search up that video and see what it's all about.

I think you're right on there, Gutslinger. I've seen those before as well as mandolins made the same way. Not a big fan, but I guess if someone wants to play without learning the different chord builds it works well. Though in cases like this with Neil, it may just be the different tone is what was sought. Whatever works!

@@daflotsam - there used to be a column in Guitar Player magazine called "Tommy Tedesco's Studio Log" that was about his career as a session player in LA; he said that when a movie or TV show had sheet music for, say, banjo or ukulele, the guitar player would get one of those instruments and tune it like a guitar, so that they wouldn't have to spend time puzzling out the parts for that instrument, which often was tuned differently. He specifically mentioned the ukulele part for the song "Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head." So with that trick and his guitar skills, there's no reason Neil can't hang and play with the Americana crowd lookin' like he's playing banjo. Fortune passes everywhere.
