Neil, I armwrestled in Garstang back in 2007-8. I was a beginner and ended up in a weight class below mine against 3 actual champions. My chances of winning were ZERO. Even with this, and with me getting blasted off the table each match, you gave me the most amazing intro and walk home to the table. I thought there and then ‘imagine having Neil in your corner whatever happens in life.’ Top man. I spoke to you on the phone a few times afterwards and you really encouraged me. Just getting back at it at 50 years of age…

Neil, I love your loyalty with Eddie. Eddie is a freak so stupid strong. Neil, if this was a MMA match, I would bet all my money on Eddie winning. He’s so violent he thrives in that. We know he is stupid strong. Brian, though with that long arm the grip strength. The stronger arm today we could both agree with that. I just have Brian definitely winning. I still tell everyone 2017 Eddie Hall to me and I don’t know if you agree. Neil. Strongest static strong man ever in a single year. I love the banter here over Eddie. First time listening and will listen a lot more regularly. Really interested in how Brian takes to arm wrestling, we know how professional he is in his approach from his strongman days and lets not beat about it, it is still prob top 5 in the world. Foe eddie, massive respect for him, but given his focus on other areas and his injury record at the mo i do feel like hes on a hiding to nothing with this. Would love to see if Brian does succeed in arm wrestling how many other strongmen would be keen to follow suit. Iron Bibby is probably unmatched for his sheer strength

I think the piece Devon is missing is that Russians werent allowed in Turkiye for those earlier east vs west matches if I remember right (due to the war etc). So Artyom ended up vsing Kody Merritt who I believe had recently won WAF or at least NA champs and Artyom beat him for the belt.

I really like both Eddie and Brian and I respect Neil for being such a good friend and coach to Eddie…… That being said I’ll say this; if Eddie truly has only had 6 weeks of training there’s no way he improved that much from what we have seen in the past on the table. Neil said himself in this video that when he first went to train Eddie all he did was push to the side. 6 weeks just isn’t enough time to improve that much. Now Brian on the other hand has been training for about 6 months being 100% bought in, and he may have been dabbling for a few months before that. The only chance Eddie has is to flash pin Brian and winning with sheer speed. Past that,‘Eddie hasn’t a snowballs chance in Hell. So yeah, Eddie has a chance…. It’s just less Than 1-2%. I just hope they both come out of this unharmed Cheers Neil, great video!!!

Neil's take during the whole conversation around Brian v Eddie exactly mirrors my own worries. My sense is that Brian is more likely to want to keep going, but instead of easing him into the sport he's pulling against a fellow world strongest man. Even Devon says in this very conversation, that Brian is beating guys not on skill, but because he can overpower them, and Eddie is just strong enough that I'm concerned they A) could both fuck each other up, but also B) this is an unnecessary risk for Brian to take. Because of that, should it not go to Brian's liking, my worry is he'll decide the juice isn't worth the squeeze and not continue. He does seem to be, as Neil said, a little uncoordinated, and there's a nice guy attitude that he needs to get rid of at the table (as do I, but that's about where my similarities with Brian end!) I don't think he's be able to go back to horsepower with as much success against Eddie. Also it's fucking wild the hype for what is basically and amateur match.

If he presses he will get hurt 100%. He is extremely injury prone in his bi/tri/pec. Many tears and detachments for Eddie. Eddie is 1 foot in man. Been watching both for many years. Eddie has been out of strength sports for 5 years. Sure still training but not the same. Brian has been out of WSM for a year. Brian is WAY more dedicated to arm wrestling. Eddie is way more focused on MMA which is cool. Brian said it best, Eddie is the first rung on the ladder. Period. Eddie won't get a single pin.
