Your channel is fantastic. Love seeing this kind of detailed analysis done on manga I used to read as a kid back in the 2000s. Neji is definitely the Whorf of the Naruto franchise. He gets talked up so much by the other characters just to make it that much more impressive when the underdog protagonist or villain of the week are able to defeat him.

The Byakugan can see the mist. The sharingan and Rinnegan allow the user to see chakra as color, but don’t give the X-Ray or telescopic vision of the Byakugan, the Byakugan can also see through chakra constructs and illusions. So the Sharingan would just turn the cloud of mist into a cloud of mist with a blue aura. Good luck finding Zabuza’s matching hazy blue aura in all that. But the Byakugan? No problem, he could see Zabuza’s skeleton through all that Mist if he wanted.

That's fair. My point was more that even if there's some hidden mechanism that would make it impossible for the Byakugan to see through, Neji still has a variety of skills to counter the mist regardless. But I think it's reasonable to assume that he probably could see through it.

sharingan actually does allow you to see through solid objects, but only to a very limited degree + it requires increased chakra expanditure.

You have a good point, ngl. I still feel reluctant to say Neji has the advantage because Zabuza is a fucking Jonin. Zabuza has the advantage in the sense that his base stats are higher than Neji's, he also has more experience. But in terms of abilities, Neji has a lot of hax and is a genius. If Neji has enough reaction time to negate Zabuza's assassination technique and the speed to react to his attacks in time, then the only thing I see that could threaten Neji would be the Giant Water Vortex. Zabuza could perhaps win in a battle of attrition if he has more chakra and stamina than Neji and don't waste them too much. Another important assumption is how much does Zabuza know about the Byakugan and, more importantly, about the Gentle Fist, without prep time. In his first encounter with Kakashi he knew some basic stuff about the Sharingan, but not enough and got folded anyway. The problem is that even if you have the most basic information about the Gentle Fist, that's enough to know you should avoid being hit. I can easily imagine him knowing at least about the internal damage, so he wouldn't let his guard down in melee distance. But sure, if he gets hit by 64 Palms or even by a simple attack on a vital organ, he's done.

I love how the “main branch” plot point makes no sense, a side branch family are usually distant relatives with distant blood ties, meanwhile Neji is the son of the identical twin of the main branch patriarch, he’s genetically has close to the head honcho has you can possibly be, makes no sense that he’s treated like he’s some backwater Hyuga that is loosely blood related to the main family lol

I always felt if anyone can combat hidden mist techniques it’s the hyuga clan and I made a vid explaining how it makes sense hyuga clan could came from mist village from way they can combat against enemies that can attack in blind spots which what mist village ninjas are good at attacking at ones blind spot. 4:58 Naruto wasn't using as much Nine-Tails chakra against Neji as he was against Haku, against Haku he had the red eyes, the slightly sharper hair, the sharp nails and fangs but against Neji he only had the red chakra around him. There is no proof that he used equal or more chakra against Neji as he did against Haku, if there IS please share.

To be honest A Hyuga can potentially beat any ninja if they are hit. If Zabusa decides to use long range Jutsu and has a water source I don’t think he’s tanking the water vortex jutsu. Also we saw Adult Neji get out of the water prison we don’t know if Kid Neji can do the same. We also have to take into account the experience Zabusa has and his ability to learn how to counter moves quickly. That said I think it’s a closer fight then we realize. We do know Neji is quick and was able to keep up with amped Naruto so in a close match it can go either way

Quite an interesting video and scaling but. Demon Mist Aura would slam since it seems relative to Kakashi in the War arc even if weaker. Haku also likely was never at full power but what counters these abilities and Zabuza is more-so being a Hyuga and its techniques more-so than Neji. It's possible but highly unlikely. Then again Zabuza at the start is such a low level antagonist who can't even control the peak of their powers that it's kinda hard. Granted the series has more than just power it has skill and such and the power levels go up then down then up again.

An established 1on1 with a defensive fighters like the hyuugas, these guys accurately hits tenketsu points at impressive speeds, so I doubt a one shot from Zabuza is possible over 360 vision. I mean Zabuza is fast but is he faster than what kidoumaro used, where Neji still managed to avoid death.

They are not jonin level at that point, none of them, much less elite jonin lile Zabuza It doesnt matter to me if neji didnt see them as enemies, he was in fighting mode and didnt even see them coming, while they didnt even wanna hurt him Zabuza would just cut him in half before he can take a step, byakugan or not, its just like lee vs sasuke, having 360 vision doesnt matter when youre totally outmatched, neji can not move his body away before being cut in half imo

@@eloquitodelaesquina you know tunnel vision exist, this is an emotional trigger not a "battle mode" where he expect to face up against jonins, someone stronger. I'm talking about Kidoumaro's attack(amped up bow & arrow) not kidoumaro himself, that wouldn't make sense. Again if you misunderstood, I also think Neji would lose but not by a single attack. Neji is an unfortunate case of negative plot armor: byakugan is limited, gentle fist doesn't work and 360 vision has blind spot, no surprised he died unceremoniously.

I see your point, but in my opinion Neji's only win conditions is landing significant blows with Gentle Fist, or landing 64 palms. While zabuza would definitely lose if that happened, theres a fairly low chance of him actually getting hit by it in my opinion. Timeskip neji might do the trick, but pre-ts neji has far less experience, is much sloeer and is much weaker. Zabuza would REALLY have to put his guard down, and judging by his character, i doubt he would. Good video though, and great points overall

Stuff like this is why comparing shinobi abilities across arcs is pointless. Kid neji would never be written in a way that would make him viable against zsbuza however , a character may have some plot written in a particular fight to get them out of a sticky situation (see sasuke v deidara. ) Mangaka write themselves into situations then ass pole without regard for the repercusions for past and future fights. Mangaka just dont think about continuity like fans do. Remember when it was a big deal that edo tobirama could perform water jutsu without a water source during the orochimaru attack on konoha? Oh and dont forget the substitute jutsu they had to stop using because nobody would ever get hit if it was applied in every fight. The list goes on

You made a good comparison of their arsenal and how it would interact with the other's but Neji is still behind stats wise. The Neji fight Naruto is weaker than Haku fight because against Haku, Naruto was in a bloodlust after seeing Sasuke be "killed" by Haku. Also, your argument kind of downplays Haku because of the implication that Haku's ice mirror is relative to Neji's rotation which is just not true considering what we see Haku do against Team 7 and the statements about him.

Nah you're tripping, Zabuza base stats should be significantly higher than Neji, making this fight devolve to speed and strength, rotation was shown to be relatively easy to over power, both by Naruto with a Kunai and Kidomaru's amped arrow. So an attack from Zabuza would more than likely overwhelm Neji's rotation as a genin

Naruto was more powerful in the haku fight then in the neji fight which is obvious when you see that Naruto had the kyuubi eyes in the haku fight, where as in the neji fight, it's just the kyuubi chakra. The 8 trigrams 64 palms would not work since zabuza could trap himself inside the water bubble to not get reached, just like what Kisame did towards Gai when there was an attempt to interrogate Kisame (not to mention he can probably shield it with his large sword. For some reason neji was only able to break out of kisame's prison bubble when gai was pressuing kisame hard with the 6th gate too which is not taken into account at all in this video. One fundamental issue with this video is that it high balls neji was too much while low balling zabuza way too much. Comes across as very fanboyish.

It's not a question of raw power. The matchup wotks in Zabuza's favor. People look at this from a DBZ perspective where newer villains are always stronger, and just because one can make a bigger crater than the other, they’re automatically better. Naruto’s one of the few series where characters are closer to rock paper scissors than DBZ. Some ninjas can beat others easily. Deidara, for example, would be a nightmare for Tsunade. She’s too grounded and direct. On the contrary, Zabuza would be a nightmare for Deidara because Deidara can’t track him. He’ll just be wasting bombs and will likely have Zabuza spawn behind him while trying to fly out of the mist. Zabuza can make mist thick enough to not only blind his opponents but himself as well. He can find their wearabouts with sound alone. Neither of these guys are sensory types. None of their abilities counter Zabuza. This is especially true in Hidan's case, given that he's a one trick pony.

We literally saw him do something similar to evade his on c4. Once in the air how does zabuza get him?
