One of the bigger takeaways from the OkaKoro date report was the constant mention from Korone of how she and Okayu have become like family. Okayu talks about how things have changed, getting along with Korone's mom, and how they've become comfortable enough to enjoy each other's silence. Expand for translator's notes. 0:00 - People generally like to keep their voices down while in public in Japan, but since the world's in a pandemic right now, it's even less likely you'll see/hear people being loud on public transit. Okayu and Korone were keeping their voices down and wearing masks while on this trip. 0:30 - Since it's information that Okayu herself is comfortable with saying, I'd like to reiterate that Okayu is from (Virtual) Aomori, which is in the far northern part of Japan. Korone was likely in the city when they first met. This meant that in order to spend time together, Okayu and Korone needed to plan in advance for Okayu to go to the big city and/or vice versa. 0:43 - "Kind of have an appointment, but don't" is something that I think got the idea across, but the original Japanese included アポなし and アポある, literally meaning "not having an appointment" and "having an appointment." Seems like the word appointment is borrowed directly and shortened for use in Japan. 1:49 - Okayu gets cut off in the middle of reciting what Korone was saying and never really finishes, since she gets distracted by the comment and goes on the tangent of explaining Korone's hospitality. 2:04 - I don't know if any clips of it are translated, but Lamy spoke a ton about how much Korone went out of her way to make Lamy feel comfortable when she went over. 4:32 - The viewer uses the word 猫被り (nekokaburi, but conjugated), which means to feign innocence or pretend to act differently than you usually are. I don't know how the word came to be, but it would literally translate to "putting on a cat" (over your head), and I feel like I may have written a note like this before somewhere in a different video... 4:51 - Okayu says she doesn't use "ため口" (tameguchi), which is basically informal language. I thought it'd be kind of weird to write "I don't speak to her casually" or "I don't speak to her informally," so I wrote "I speak to her politely" instead. For those out of the loop, Japanese has different words and conjugation styles depending on the level of formality of their speech. In some ways, it's really cool. In others, it's really annoying. 5:08 - Hopefully you can tell by the tone of voice, but if you can't, Korone's mom says hi to Okayu with a generally happy tone of voice, like she's happy to see her. 5:21 - This isn't really a note, but is it normal for people to think this about their friend's parents (specifically being happy your friend's parents gave birth to your friend)? Maybe it's a Japanese thing, but I've almost never heard anyone say something like this in English lol. 5:53 - For those unaware, "Koromon" refers to the drawings Korone made. She drew Pokemon she's never seen before based entirely on their name, and they became "Koromon." Eventually they made a t-shirt with her designs. Korone's particular aesthetic style also made it's way into a collab with Rakugaki Kingdom too. 6:13 - Okayu says it's the "last story," but in this video there's still a clip left. They're out of order, and it's done that way on purpose because I wanted to end with a reassuring bit that Korone's getting better for people concerned about her. 6:47 - Okayu uses the phrase 食べまくってた, which is kind of like wolfing down a bunch of food or just eating one after another. During QC, I was suggested to use the word "devour," but when I wrote it into the subs, it felt really awkward having Okayu just suddenly say "devour" in the middle of this sentence, especially since "devour" isn't really used that often. It's not really wrong to say "devour" though, as it carries a bigger punch closer to 食べまくってた, but it also just feels absurdly out of place in an English sentence to me, so I omitted out of personal preference. 7:24 - I left out the part where they bought the spare chargers specifically at a convenience store due to lacking space. Didn't think it was too important, but just noting that. General - If you're wondering what's with that picture in the background, that's a picture of the clothes that Okayu and Korone wore to USJ. It's not an exact drawing of what they wore, and there are some things that aren't true to real life, but it gives a good general idea of what they wore. The hats they have on are hats they bought at the end of their trip when they went to Nintendo World. Okayu's wearing a Boo hat and Korone is wearing a Yoshi hat.

Thanks for the video and these notes! About 5:21, this also seemed a little odd to me. I've not heard anyone say something like that.

About 5:21, I think it's a pretty normal way to exaggerate the thankfulness in Japanese sense. Usually see this before when people is about to praise someone he really like.

The "I am thankful to her parents for giving birth to her" line is generally a romance trope. Something a lover or spouse would say about their significant other's parents. I guess Okayu just likes phrases like that, because she uses this one repeatedly.

Thanks for the translations again! I think its a pretty cute idea that even though Korone likes to do things a certain way, when it comes to Okayu, she is willing to change and try something new in some regards. Its really nice that Korone's mom enjoys having Okayu over and that she is a fan of Okayu as well (must run in the family lol) Also the whole Korone is like a Mom, sister, and best friend part, nothing really more to add, they are just really cute and it shows how much Okayu really apprieciates Korone and vise versa with Korone saying Okayu is pretty much family to her now, I'm glad they were able to have fun on the trip and hopefully we get to hear Korone's perspective soon!

Thank you very much for the wholesome Okakoro translation! I've always said that one of the highest friendship "milestones" is when you can both just be there, in total silence without being awkward or anything, like both are minding their own bussiness with each other's company, at least that is definitely one of the things that i can only do with my best friend てええてええ

"Were you pretending to be a good girl?" Ouch XD Koro-san's mom accepted Okayu into the famiy fold a long time ago, so I am not surprised. As for comfortable silence, that's really common between close people, OkaKoro are just so chatty that it is actually rare. How cute.

Thanks for the clip! That whole stream was just overflowing with teetee, and I can't wait to hear the stories from Korone's POV on how much Okayu enjoyed the trip when she returns. I really hope to be able to visit USJ again soon, and I'll definitely grab one of those Boo hats from Nintendo World too hehe..
