Fubuki often appears as a guest on Arurundeisu's drinking streams where they chat about all sorts of topics.The main focus of the stream was actually Fubuki giving her impressions of what each holostar member is like, vs. Arurun revealing what they're really like. It's a fun stream, but clipping all the impressions would lead to like... a 30 minute video or so lol. Expand for translator's notes. 1:17 - I've actually seen people discuss this point from time to time on various social media, like reddit. Some viewers think that the hololive members are co-workers first and foremost, and friends second. While I do think there is a bit of truth to them being particularly friendly because they're in the same company together, the sheer amount of stories you can hear about members hanging out together makes it hard to believe they're "just friends at work" and work alone. Couple that with members pretty aggressively stating that there are people they "hang out with often, but don't collab with often/don't talk about often" (IE: Fubuki and Towa), and yeah, the women of hololive are definitely pretty friendly with each other, even beyond just being co-workers. I mean, shit, some of them live close enough to each other to be neighbors and show up unannounced in each others streams lol. 1:55 - First thing to note, if you've never heard of the word 'glamping,' it's a word that is a combination of glamor + camping. It refers to a style of camping where you do stuff like renting a cabin or some other normal luxury instead of being 100% out in nature in like a tent or whatever. To be honest, it's all camping to me, and nobody ever used the word "glamping" when I grew up. It kinda just feels like a gatekeepy word to separate some people from "real campers" lol. Anyway, the word exists, and it is an English word that's real, so I left it as is. 1:59 - A reference to this (kzbin.info/www/bejne/o33VlHSVgd54esk) stream. Fubuki, Mio, Towa, Subaru and Okayu all went on a trip to Izu together. They went to the zoo there, hiked up a mountain, and various other things. It's a pretty fun stream too. 2:29 - Fubuki in particular loves giving reports about what members are up to whenever she gets a chance to hang out with them off-stream. One example of Fubuki giving this kind of report is telling people that Okayu was wearing a skirt when they went to Izu together. For people who don't watch Okayu much, they might think she's kind of a tomboy, so her wearing a skirt has that kind of gap moe appeal. That said, people who do watch Okayu often know she actually prefers wearing skirts, and has for over a year. Plus she's always been pretty girly on stream. 2:32 - First off, the original word used instead of "embarrassing" was the phrase "営業妨害," which means to interfere with someone's work. In vtuber stuff, or at least hololive stuff, it's often used as a joke to refer to when people reveal sides of each other that kind of "break character." Like if someone is trying to act cool and stuff, someone might reveal how they love cute little animals or whatever, and that can be considered "営業妨害." Though not part of this clip, earlier in the stream, Arurun brought up how they had collabed with Matsuri earlier (kzbin.info/www/bejne/mGWUaWiVq7mlptE). Matsuri was supposed to be a guest but she showed up really late (half an hour into the stream) since she overslept. After that collab had ended, she contacted Aruran directly and apologized sincerely profusely for being late to the stream. The two of them poked fun at her, saying that though she may act like she doesn't give a crap about things on streams at times, she's a person who really takes her job seriously and honestly does feel bad if she wastes others people's time. In contrast to her seemingly devil-may-care appearance, Matsuri is actually a really considerate person. Also to note, this is only really an unexpected side of Matsuri if you don't watch her that much. People who have stuck with her a while know she's got a lot of these more serious, sincere moments where you can see beyond her usual antics (though those antics are definitely part of her too). 3:53 - The original Japanese that Arurun uses is "キャピキャピ," which literally would translate to being in high spirits and brimming with energy. Since the full thing he says is "キャピキャピフレンド感" (lit: high spirited friendly feeling), I localized it to "friendly schmendly," to match the feel of it being a sort of exaggerated friendly feel. 5:52 - Arurun actually isn't referring to the game "Taboo" here. In Japanese, he mentions "たけのこニョッキゲーム" (The Takenoko Nyokki Game). This is an extremely Japanese-specific type game that I thought would be better to localize because it'd otherwise require a giant translator's note in the middle of the subs, something I prefer to avoid because I think it interferes with the viewing experience. Anyway, it's a Japanese game where each player takes turns calling out a number + the word nyokki. Each time a player calls out a number, they have to raise their arms like a bamboo shoot (which is what takenoko translates to). If you overlap with someone else, or if you're the last one to make a call, you lose and are out. So when a round starts, someone has to start with "1 nyokki," but it's easy to overlap with someone at the beginning because nobody knows how long to wait just yet, while everything after that is a matter of reaction speed. Because the main point of comparison is a game where speaking up carries risk, I chose to use the game "Taboo" as a, hopefully, easier to understand game for English viewers. That said, I've never actually played Taboo myself lol. Example of the nyyokki game: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mmGwgYOneNaleKM

1:17) I'd caution actually believing that. You should always assume they're coworkers first and friends second *until* they show extensive evidence that it's the case otherwise, and even then it shouldn't be thought of much because things can change very quickly without you knowing. To think otherwise is very parasocial-like in behaviour and putting the cart before the horse. The characters are all friends, the people are all coworkers and possibly friends. 1:55) Renting a cabin is a poor example for glamping. Glamping is about bringing excessive comfort *with you* when you camp, whether you're in a remote location by yourself or in a shared campsite you can still glamp. In my opinion, people who feel like it's a form of gatekeeping to have specific terms instead of umbrella terms for activities are just projecting insecurity for themselves or others. Some people have certain expectations when one says "Football" (American), so if you take them to a Flag Football game instead of a regular Football game then it would be valid for them to react differently. Same goes for backpacking, glamping, backcountry camping, car camping, etc. I personally hate glamping and when someone asks if I want to "go camping" I need to clarify exactly what they mean by that so I don't waste my time.

@@19throse40 you might have a decent point but excessive cinicism isn't needed either and please stop using the word parasocial wrong. It's not a catch all word for anything you dislike about fans and vtubers

@@WakingOne Could you clarify how exactly I'm using parasocial incorrectly? As I understand, parasocialism is the idea that you have a relationship with someone who doesn't know you personally. I use this term because people who are adamant that Hololive members are by in large much more than co-workers appear to think that solely based on what the talents choose to display on stream (during their job), it is enough to deduce how they all feel about eachother behind closed doors and what their relationships are like, as if they were part of it and know them personally.

Putting aside whether or not you're using the term incorrectly, I don't exactly think that hearing people talk about stories about how they spend a lot of time together, doing very fun stuff together, and then coming to the conclusion that those people are likely friends, has really anything to do with "acting as if you were a part of it and know them personally." Nor do I think is it anything dangerous, irrational, or anything to really be cautious about. It's normal human behavior. Like, if you heard a friend of yours tell you about how their coworkers hang out outside of work all the time and get drinks together often, and then you assumed that your friends coworkers are probably friends outside of work too, that's a completely normal and logical reaction to the information you've been given. It's not really a weird thing to do. If anything, I think it'd be weirder to assume that your friend's coworkers in that example are only hanging out outside of work together so often so that they can maintain a healthy workplace relationship and nothing more. I mean, it's possible. But like... why doubt it? Same case here. Fubuki talks about going on trips with other members, spending new years with them, buying goods with them, going to the movies together, visiting concerts together, etc. etc. It's not a stretch at all to think, "Hey, I think these guys really are friends beyond just working together!" I understand there is a worry for fans to get excessively attached and do things that are harmful to themselves and others, because there have been cases of that happening in the past (enough for obsessive fans to have songs be written about them). But like... assuming people are friends is such a nothing burger lol.

Can't wait to see the fruits of Aruran's efforts in the coming 2023 year! I hope we get to hear stories about the fun the boys do offline. But even if we don't, ill be glad if they can deepen their friendships just a bit! Love them to bits, wishing them the best 2023 has to offer

Imo the reason why Holostars dont often go on off collabs is surprisingly because they all have bonded deeply with each other already.
@toothlesstoothy

I think it's also because they're mostly very introverted individuals? And it's kinda (sadly) normal in japan for men (especially the otaku type) to not really go outside and hangout with their friends, even on their days off.

There's also how most Japanese are not the type to invite others? because some are scared it will be a burden to the other person, like Fubuki said here. Most just passively wait for people to invite them, and even then they sometimes feel "is it really ok for me to go?", like what Fubuki also said here lmao.
