Nellie is a Whippet. In this episode she makes new acquaintances. She also demonstrates how fast Whippets can run (56 km/h), showing the breed's origin from greyhounds.

Thanks for sharing the continuing adventures of Nellie. You can see pure joy when Whippets get together and run. Where I am there is a Whippet club which gets together every few months, and to see 15 whippets chasing each other in a furry tsunami is such fun.

I'm strongly thinking about getting a whippet, I've always loved the breed. My 2 year old border collie would get a huge kick too. He's from working lines and he's very fast in his own right. I can just imagine him trying to catch the whippet while never quite succeeding. Great for both and me, plus a great way to tire them out.

Whippets pups shouldn't be allowed to belt around much it can harm their growth plates before they set. They can end up deformed if they do damage to their bones during this period.

@@nelliethewhippet well, some do make it. They're probably a bit brain damaged, but nobody minds a bird being crazy. They sort of get a free pass. Unlike humans. We always hear how weird we are. If we act slightly out of line, we get weird looks or someone calls the cops. Noone calls the cops if there is a bird sitting in their garden acting all crazy, but with humans, oh my, we can't have that. Better start shouting and call the cops! I think being a bird would be nice, if it wasn't for windows. Maybe a bird in medieval times. They had it good. Have a nice day.
