@eileensimpson, Greyhound racing in Idaho has been illegal for many, many years, so what you're talking about happened many, many years ago. How about living now and not in the past. Tracks are not horrible at all. If they were, greyhounds couldn't race on them. The tracks are groomed before each race to make them the safest place for the greyhounds to run.
@Tackleqb

@@momtoty have owned 2 separate greyhounds who were both rescues and lived long lives. Over the years my feelings on tracks and kennels have slowly changed. I have softened my feelings on them and in fact have seen how well some tracks have treated their dogs. I am now of the belief that most tracks try and do well for the dogs. I mean really they have to. I have seen some kennels even set up extremely nice living spaces for each of their dogs. My only concern now is the overbreeding of dogs because I believe that’s where some kennels get into trouble.

@@Samsona75 How do you know she was treated horribly? Who told you? Her handler? Did you see how she was treated yourself? Or are you just ASSumng she was? Do you 100% proof from her handler? That is the ONLY person you should believe because her handler is the one that was with her 14 hours a day, 7 days a week until she was retired. You aren't stupid enough to believe abused greyhounds can race are you? It's not only impossible but it's against regulations. Did you ever reach out to talk to her handler? Greyhounds get the best care, better than a lot of adopted greyhounds do. I don't believe she was abused at all whether she was a bad racer or not. If she wasn't a good racer, the owner would retire her to an adoption group where you adopted her. The main purpose of racing greyhounds is to have them race their best so abusing them defeats the purpose. That's like beating up a football player and expecting him to play the game. Stupid isn't it? Well it's stupid to even think greyhounds are abused and expected to race their best.

@Eerie Sheena not like dog fighting but similar to circus animals. You could probably find out if you researched it but I wouldn't unless you live in an area where dog racing still happens. The more knowledge you have the better you can get it on your local voting ballot to get rid of it. It takes perseverance because these gambling companies have a lot of money to fight it. @itz1av3 What do greyhounds go through to learn how to race? What have you seen yourself? Greyhounds aren't forced to learn how to race. It's impossible. They just learn to chase after a toy and if they have no desire to chase, they get an early retirement and go home with their owner or go to an adoption group to get adopted. Nothing cruel ever happens to greyhounds. Cruelty won't produce a good racer. Quite the opposite. They get the best care and plenty of love. That's why they make such wonderful pets.

It's always nice to see greyhounds featured on The Dodo. I've had greyhounds since adopting my first one in 2004, and they are absolutely wonderful, gentle, sensitive, and loving pets. They do require some extra patience in the beginning because literally everything is new to them: other breeds of dogs, stairs, windows, couches, etc. Paul's behavior was very normal. But, their real personality starts to emerge. We always like to say that you'll have a whole different dog a year later! They learn very quickly and become precious family members. I have three greyhounds waiting at the bridge and one wonderful dog, Flashy, with me today. He's my whole world!

Paul is so beautiful! I am happy to see that Paul has a harness instead of a collar at a point in the video! Harnesses are more humane than collars and harnesses don't put pressure on the neck like collars do. I recently found out from a reputable holistic veterinarian that dog ear infection could be due to neck injuries and as a matter of fact, sometimes health problems in the head and ears are related to neck injuries so I hope all dog parents can use harnesses instead of dog collars. 🙏🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I have a bicycle path/trail behind my home. It hurts my heart when I see people walking their dogs and jerking back on the leash. And so many do. I always wish I could do the same to them 😠. @@sbffsbrarbrr Yes yes I fully agree! People do not need to read medical articles to know collars are bad and inhumane. Just the visual is enough to understand how inhumane it is to use a collar. They make wonderful companion pets. They are very little trouble and grateful for any attention you give them but don't demand it! XXX

Thankyou for your patience with Paul, being locked up all the time, he would of never had toys or play time, it would be just racing, practicing, eating and sleep, no fun. Good boy Paul, you've got good humans with you now.❤️

Your joy in seeing Paul’s personality develop is heartwarming, to say the least. I’m a greyhound owner since2009, as well as a volunteer in doing home visits and placing adopted greys for a few years. Nothing gave me greater joy than watching families welcome their new treasure into their homes…and seeing the beautiful reactions of the dog in realizing life was going to be different. So glad Paul found you 🎉❤️

I cried almost immediately, my heart wept for his very real fear and then I wept because it was his BRAND NEW BEST BUDDIES...YOU TWO...WHO WOULD ALLOW HIM TO BE EXACTLY WHAT HE WANTS TO BE! THAT IS A PRECIOUS GIFT FOR THIS BEAUTIFUL FUR BABY! AND AS IF THE ICING ON HIS HAPPY DANCE CAKE OPENED HIS HEART HE HAS A BEAUTIFUL SIBLING! LIFE IS SOOO GOOOD!!! GOD BLESS EACH OF YOU! YOU MAKE A BEAUTIFUL FAMILY!❤🎉😊

The cry of Paul reminds me a bad memory of the greyhound racing track in my city until a few years ago. Every time I passed by, I could hear those heartbreaking mournful howls and barks to vent depression. Fortunately, everything has passed In the past, hope the last batch of dogs live well and happily .

There is no more satisfying and rewarding feeling than to watch a broken dog slowly let down their wall of fear and trust and learn to love humans who never loved them before. It brings me to tears to see this beautiful giant of a dog learn what it is to be a dog and to be loved and have a home and feel safe. What a wonderful couple that helped this dog become a dog again. God Bless them, for they are true hero's
