Joyce, it’s good to practice with an inexpensive paint until you get the hang of things, and then you can move on up to more expensive paint. I have searched the internet and can’t find it anywhere, even on the Golden site. Has it been discontinued? What would you recommend in its place? Thank you so much

It has not been discontinued, Golden is having supply chain issues due to the pandemic. I am an artist educator for them so I order my paint directly from Golden. I have not tried to order Anthroquinone blue lately however. You could substitute Paynes gray, or blend Pthalo Blue with Vandyke brown

This round of stencils will not have the corrected bars, but it’s not affecting the prints whatsoever. All you have to do is make sure you have paper, or Duralar are in between them. I’m sorry to say that they are only available through Joggles, and if they don’t ship to Germany then I guess you might have to see if there’s someone you know in another country who could receive them and then send them onto you. It has to do with customs and taxes that we don’t ship to certain countries, they just make it too difficult. My apologies

We are challenged by taxes and customs requirements in terms of shipping to Europe and that is why it is so expensive. It is not an easy process. Joggles is the manufacturer and the retailer so I’m not sure that’s going to change. Thanks so much for your kind words!

I have a problem with this rice paper although I love it. (No, that’s not the problem.) What I ❤️ to do is pick up a print made with a stencil using a solid color after the stenciled image has dried on the plate. But when I try to pick up the image with a solid paint color brayered on top of the stenciled image, a layer of the paper sticks to the plate, destroying the print. What, oh what, am I doing wrong? I’ve tried using a thinner layer of paint to pick up the image but no help. It still turns into a mess. Works fine w every other kind of paper. Help? 😘 Thanks! Hope your beautiful masks come in smaller sizes!

Hello Lynn, every now and then I have the same issue and I’m not sure why because it’s inconsistent. I would say you need to use more paint, and move a little faster. Generally when the paper sticks to the plate it’s because the paint is drying. I am having that issue as I work in the garage and it is warm out. You may have that issue if you are under an air conditioning vent, or near a fan. A thicker layer of paint won’t dry as fast.

You know, this occurred to me today, after I wasted three more sheets trying to find the right amount of paint to pull the first layer: $15 is not an amount I can afford to spend lightly and I’m not sure I would have bought this rice paper if you had mentioned that using it was so tricky. Maybe when you mention how strong it is, you could also mention this downside. When I add more paint, it doesn’t pull up the first layer, because that requires a thin layer. So I can’t use it for the kind of print I bought it for. Or mention, at least, that it’s inconsistent?

Masks and stencils still confuse me. Well, no, just masks. When I was attempting to learn Adobe Photoshop in college (back in the fogs of the mid-90's), I had the worst time trying to make sense of masks, layers, clipping paths, etc. To this day, I still haven't a clue how to really use Photoshop. I never did succeed as a Graphic Designer but that's okay. I am now an Abstract Acrylic painter who uses Photoshop to adjust and manipulate collage elements only. Your artwork and products are so fascinating and I really do want to purchase some of your stencils, masks, etc.

I’m a mask the image is formed by the plastic. I’m a stencil the image is formed by the holes. I have been a graphic designer for over 20 years, you’re better off as a painter!!! :)
