This building has been another downward fall for that area. A rental building that accepts Section 8 vouchers should've never been built at that corner. Ask any of the condo owners of the adjacent buildings how much trouble and sketchy characters now roam that area. They come out of NEMA. I dont know about you, but there is no way I'm paying full rent in a building that accepts housing vouchers. Not happening.

Every rental building in cook county is required to accept section 8 vouchers; they cannot discriminate against income. Further, any building with 10+ units is required to build affordable housing units either in the building or off site. @@GRAFFTRealEstate I understand that but it has changed from when you had to have the voucher cover the entire rental amount. Now that can be made up with "other" income which means there are people writing checks they cant cash and living in a building that is truly above their income level. There is a big divide in values and behavior from section 8 renters and full paying residents. I wouldn't rent there. I would find a small landlord that doesn't advertise and rents by word of mouth. They dont have to take the vouchers, and I would live in peaceful bliss from the ghetto dwellers.

@@Nebulosity22It seems being inclusive now involves tolerating thuggery, freeloaders, and people that don't share your values - I'll pass on being inclusive. When the productive people able to pay full rent anywhere wont live in your building, you have to lower the rent. Then you end up with a low rent building. It's not a smart move. Plus, I've seen this social housing experiment in Chicago before and it never works. Nabila, you showed what you are by deteriorating the conversation to name calling. I can spot you and your Link card and your life long section 8 voucher a mile away. And yeah, I have no respect or tolerance for you and I'm not afraid to make it known.
