Hi, all. This is just an updated version of my original video as the audio quality in my original posting was pretty muffled.

I bought a 50cc Grom clone for my 1st Scoot. Not enough speed for my Town. Bought a 150 cc Scoot and it's perfect for my Town and even my County roads. Good video !

I just bought a 150cc scooter for $969.00 ($1,184 with shipping) The 50cc's the place sells are 171 lbs. My 150cc is 194 lbs, just 23 lbs heavier. I can upgrade to a 171cc for $140.00 dollars which puts it slightly above the 200cc class which is 169cc without boring the cylinder. I'll do that in a year when I get comfortable with the scooter and desire extra power/speed at a low cost. This will also make the resale value go up if I decide to sell it. I think that makes it a Great deal. Insurance is only 100 bucks for the year and registration and license plate plus taking your MC license test is also about 100 bucks.

@@nemanjatosovic Good to know. I'd like to try the 171 mod then a 250 then a 300 and I think that will be as fast or as quick as I wanna go. I considered a regular motorcycle but I'll stick to scooters cus I don't want the hassle of a clutch and shifter while I'm driving. I just wish I could find a scooter that looks like a cruiser. LOL

Under Michigan law, possibly the biggest advantage of all for the 50cc class (officially termed "mopeds") is that no vehicle insurance is required. Michigan has bad auto insurance laws otherwise, and car insurance costs a fortune here, so this actually a huge deal compared to a car. Also it is possible to get a "moped" driving license in Michigan without having a car driving license. Probably some cost advantages there, I don't know, but I believe you only need to take a written test and not a road test. The motorcycle endorsement for your car license basically requires you to attend a motorcycle safety class for a few days. But motorcycles again require insurance. Michigan requires a moped registration sticker that costs $15 for 3 years, compared to auto registration maybe costing about $125 or more per year. I have not had a motorcycle registered here for many years, so not sure about that cost. About 7 to 10 years back, Michigan made some interesting and very nice changes to their "moped" laws. Carrying a passenger is now permitted, though there is supposed to be a proper seat and footrests for the passenger. Also -- this is potentially huge -- a moped can now have an engine up to 99cc! Or 100cc, I forget. So WOW you could have a lot more power for passengers and hill climbing, though you are still supposed to be limited to a low speed such as 30 or 35 mph in theory. The only problem is, nobody seems to make a 99cc scooter right now. So you can go wild on a 50cc with big bore kits, but then durability may be a question. I wish more states would follow Michigan's example, and maybe motivate the Chinese or Japanese or Koreans to introduce purpose-built 99cc scooters with robust engines and passenger seats. Speaking of 50cc vs. 150cc, I think this video glosses over the issue of power, considered separately from top speed. Where I live a 50cc would be fine speed-wise, except my whole town is built on a steep hillside. I weigh well over 200 pounds, so even without a passenger a 50cc is not working very well. Mine does climb the hills, but VERY slowly and I feel like I'm badly abusing it. And to me, so much of the advantage would be in carrying a single passenger, like dropping my daughter off at dance class or my wife off at her job without burning much gas in the car.

It’s not hard to get an endorsement in Michigan all you have to do if your over 18 is take the written test, hold your permit for 30 days, buy a 150cc or small bike, pay the 50 bucks in fees and breeze through the test it’s so easy people are just lazy.

Hey man I am buying a Xmax I have 2 deals am working on to decide. 2018 with 14k miles for $3200 and no records of maintenance but minor scratches from 80 year old who bought it from an auction. I did vin check no issues just renewal titles. 2018 for $4000 with 760 miles. Would you be afraid of a Xmax with such high mileage with no records of maintenance or risk it for the deal????
@nemanjatosovic
@nemanjatosovic 4 жыл бұрын
milages are no issue. the engine is bulletproof it will last 100,000 miles without issues if well maintained. I can't really recommend one over the other as I am not sure what your priorities are, however, if I were you, I'd offer the person selling the one with 760 miles 3600-3800 and I'm sure they would take it. Maybe even 3400-3600. The reason I'd pay a 500 or so dollar premium is because of a piece of mind, PS: those plastics if you dislake them they will cost you a few hundered to replace anyways.. so you are better of buying one that is mint. But it is up to you and your budget, I'd go see the one that has low miles, test it, see how it drives and offer probably 3400 and I am sure they will come down a few hundred especially if you show up with cash. PS: as far as millage is concerned, I've seen prior gen models that do not have the blue core engine and all the upgrades in europe with over 100,000 miles selling for around 2,000 euros... These machienes are bulletproof if you properly take care of them. PS: Xmax is super easy to maintain and everything besides maybe valve adjustments and tire changes you can do at home, but even valve adjustment is not too hard. Hope this helps

@@nemanjatosovic very helpful thank you. Unfortunately both my options are far away for me to see am pretty much buying without physically seeing it. That's how bad I want one and I feel it's going to exceed my expectations regardless. The one with 760 miles he was asking 4500 i got him down to 4000. He lives in Texas i live in Georgia I can't go see and I will have to ship that's about 400 dollars. Am for sure going to be looking at 4500 anyways. The one that has 14k miles they where asking $3,800 they are in ozark,AR and got him down to $3,200 and also looking at 400 bucks for shipping it to me and maybe looking at total of $3,800 shipped and registered in Georgia. Am very much mechanically inclined and don't feel hesitant to do a lot on my part I just wonder if 1k more is worth peicee of mind on a on a scooter that should be very reliable. I am doing video chat with both and have evaluated them very well it's 1k difference for a 14k miles vs a 760 miles for same year same colors ( white) Also the 14k miles includes a back rack thats couple hundred bucks. I would also add the scratches are very minor in the one that has 14k miles you have to look to see them. I really just wanted to share with someone I know understands i love my scooter i am replacing my big bike, DRZ400SM Supermoto with 30k miles for it actually and keeping both scooters. Just hard decision to make but also wanted your feedback given the great deal you got yours for.

Don’t listen to this man scooters are based on environment elevation fuel air body mass index following lines on roads for 50 mL scooter can travel at 50 miles an hour with the right rider in the right conditions of 150 mL scooter can travel at 50 cruise at 60 and proper conditions with proper riders.Either way whatever scooter you buy proper maintenance good parts good conditions you’ll have a good time don’t read everybody’s bad reviews 90% of people don’t even know how to ride a bicycle and maintain that bicycle you’re buying a motorcycle by the motorcycle that suits you your lifestyle and your environment

I already have a 700 dollar electric bike with a 48v 1000w hub motor that will do tops 38 mph and a range of 20 miles round trip I built in 2010. I use it like a motorcycle and do not pedal it at all. 50cc doesn't impress me unless I can make one do 70 mph for interstate traveling. I'm 5'3 115 lbs so I need something smaller than a Maxi scooter and as light as possible. Looking for a used one to keep cost down.
