So Nemesis is an inverse of Batman where the people who killed his parents were cops instead of crooks. I honestly wasn't blown away by the twist. I thought the twist was going to be that he killed the hitchhikers as a kid and planted evidence against his parents because he wanted to see if any of the cops would become his Joker-like Nemesis.

My issue with Nemesis is that he's not that interesting of a character. He's essentially just Batman without a moral code.... and batman without inhibitions, self imposed or otherwised is just a guy railroading the shit out of anyone within his sights without any real obstacle to overcome. There wasn't any real tension in this story and the most interesting part was the B-Plot tie in. I guess you could look at the character as a deconstruction of Batman insofar as being a "what if Bruce with full League of Assassins" since their backstories are otherwise the same but "meh". The story needed to have some sort of character foil or actual obstacle to overcome to add some sort of gravitas instead of the whole series being dude running victory laps on everyone around him in uninteresting ways. The crossover reveal was mildly cool I guess. Kinda feels weird to have the most appealing aspect of a story essentially being an advert for a continuation of a story you prefer otherwise.

Other then Invincible, Locke & Key was the only other series I was ever asked to take down from my channel. I covered 3 of the 6 volumes right when the TV show started. That was back when I didn't white out the text in the bubbles, so maybe that was a factor. But I will not be revisiting it.
