This matchup was actually the very first Death Battle I have ever seen and what got me into it and vs debates in general. I can remember looking through a megaman wiki site when after watching a video at the home page, the Cloud vs Link video popped up probably around the time it got popular. Except ancient arrows don't effect everyone. Bosses and stronger enemies just take damage from the arrows. Basically, if the enemies are killed by the arrow, then they are erased, but if the enemy is strong enough to survive, it just hurts.

The only thing we know is that the enemies who aren't erased, are all more powerful than the enemies who are. Considering that is the only common denominator, isn't it a fair conclusion to say that ancient arrows are just massive damage that erase on kill? It completely explains both the description, and how we see it behave. Also, as far as it being just game mechanics, it can't be just game mechanics. If it was, then why wouldn't Link just use an ancient arrow on Gannon, erase him from existence, and thereby completely stop the process of Gannon's reincarnation?

It's going to be interesting to see how they scale Link. It's almost a guarantee that the Link used in the Death Battle will be a composite, this is thanks to past trends of Death Battle's using various versions to compose the stats of a character. One of the more recent examples is Sanji, whom was scale to a Movie Feat that Zoro performed. With that it in mind, everything depends on how they perceive Link's strength. From what I have observed Link tiering in VS is very wacky and all over the place. You see some folks scale Link from Dwarf Star level all the way to Universal. There is no constant scale for the character, and considering Ganondorf was just scaled to Planet Level; the outcome of this matchup will dependent on DB's interpretation. My gut reaction is that DB will scale Link to star level's of power; it's much more reasonable for the type of audience the show attracts to accept that interpretation over Universal level Link. But that is just speculation on my part, and I will be rooting for Link either way.

Thank you for bringing up how little Mario vs Sonic (2018) showed off compared to the original, that's something that always bothered me. A lot of people like that rematch and that's fine but i still think the original did a better job showing the abilities of both characters and how they counter eachother while Sonic barely got any moments to shine in the rematch and even Mario was given less in the fight itself compared to the original.

While sprites may not have been as flashy as the hand drawn animation we got Death Battle clearly didn't have the budget to make an animation long enough to show too many abilities. This is fine for matches like Smokey vs McGruff or Jack vs Afro where neither character has that many powers to begin with, but Mario and Sonic had so many powerups and abilities that were left completely unused that it made the rematch rather disapointing. In fact, this is the exact reason why Steven vs Star was in sprites instead ofhand drawn.

Usually with death battle if a character has many different versions of them they usually stick to the most common variables among cannon sources. The Hylian shield is only breakable in BotW and is in general zelda cannon to be indestructible so im sure they will keep it that way. Not to mention with Link's target focus the fusion sword's omni hit move should still have the same results like in the last one since cloud still has to move between the pieces.

I'm not a fan of Cloud being Solar system level and mftl, simply because this make the plot really inconsistent if cloud is strong enough to blow up a solar system then why did they never bring up the possibility to destroy the meteor by himself or why does sephiroth need a really complex plan to summon a meteor if all he has to do is wound the planet himself. The FF7 ending has them not doing anything when the meteor is going to wipe out all of humanity and canonically their at their strongest. The most concrete proof we have of their level is in advent children and once again we never see anything close to solar system level and cloud at the end of the movie should be at his endgame level except for the lack of materia. About the cutscene argument i'm doubtful Barret in one of his limit break use a satellite despite the fact that Cid is the only characters in the series to have begun space exploration. From my point of view in an rpg unless the characters said that the attack really happen it shouldn't be cannon.

I honestly always interpreted the doomguy vs master chief episode as them deciding to interpret "Doomguy" and *The Doom Slayer* as different people, which is honestly pretty fair since there's about as much support for them being in any way related as there is for the 2 doom games taking place in entirely separate realities, and last I bothered checking both of those were less likely than a split timeline. anyways, masterchief winning against doomguy seems pretty fanboyish but honestly? their stats aren't _that_ far apart and chief is deeeeefinitely the more skilled combatant so meh, not gonna whine about it either. masterchief winning against The Doom Slayer though? no, no, hahano, good lord no, literal dead gods and bloody atomized ashes not in a million years NO. you'd be better off pitting frieking Kratos against that abomination than masterchief...heck, it'd be a much better thematic matchup too for that matter.

A lot of the reasons for why Link is scaled SO damn high is because the Triforce is specifically stated to be "nigh-omnipotent" which is ABSURD amounts of power. And if we're using Composite Link, you have to scale him at his absolute strongest, which is when he gains the full Triforce. And it's not just using it to wish for one thing, as well. The wishing ability can also be used multiple times by those with a pure heart despite what others may tell you. So basically the Triforce is VERY strong, and should be given to Link to use so that he can be scaled at his absolute peak. If you downgrade the opponent, that means you would be given the right to handicap them as much as possible to decide who wins. That's like downscaling Goku to Naruto's level for example.

Depends on what they give link. If they give him everything, the Fierce Deity mask puts link at planet to star level. Majora’s illusion in the moon isn’t an illusion as things that happen there(getting the Fierce Deity) can be used in the outside world. Star to Planet. As for Supernova scaling. It’s a specific ability that has too much unknowns to scale. Honestly I see this going either way. Doom slayer is now stronger than Kratos thanks to Davoth’s lore. So Master Chief is a super mega stomp

Taking into account Death Battle's own scalling, sheer power wise Cloud should stomp Link. Remember how Sephiroth can unleash Super Nova, which Cloud tanked. That alone puts Cloud at solar system level. Meanwhile Ganondorf, who wields the triforce of POWER and Link routinely mops the floor with, is only planet level at best. Off course this isn't taking into account all of their gear and hax abilities, and since I'm no expert in regard to all of their gear(especially Link, what with all of his incarnations) I can't tell which one of them has supperior equipment. I just hope this time they are gonna be a bit more fair towards Cloud than last time. I mean COME ON! Giving Cloud some of his weakest equipment while facing off againt a composite Link is just plain dirty no matter how I look at it.

One prediction I'm making for this fight now: Cloud is gonna launch some manner of big magick spell at Link, and Link is gonna deflect it... Extra credit if for some reason, he does it with a pot lid. If they use more BotW Link, I can also imagine something more dynamic where much of Link's fight choreography sees him ranking up his gear to better items until he somehow gets the master sword. All in all? Should be a cool fight. Cloud should be someone who immediately gets on with Link because Link doesn't talk and I feel Cloud would vibe with that a lot

Yeah this DeathBattle is way too hard not to hype in my head, the animation could be so much. I really liked Biff Weed's idea where its an ancient version of the arena we saw in the first fight, that just sounds cool - but also... Motorcycle Fight. Motorcycle Fight sounds dope as hell. Goddamn it, this fight isn't gonna live up to the hype. But yeah I really want to see some other FF characters appear, namely Yuna because her summons along with Dresspheres could make for a really fun fight. Also Dead Fantasy is actually amazing.

I for one think that Cloud was originally robbed of the fight due to how they stacked Link up with all of the forms he had in the past while Cloud only had to run with his base set from 7 without use of stuff he has from Advent Children, Cerberus, Crisis Core, Kingdom Hearts or Dissidia. Then they said that he was only building level just because he sliced up a building completely ignoring how Cloud lives after being hit with a super nova in FFVII. Thing is there're multiple types of links all branching but cloud is a single time line. But they should use cloud at his full potential not gimp him into the dirt. That's what they did last time. They didn't put into account the mass amounts materia cloud had at his arsenal and all the creative ways he could combine them. Good example final attack- revive. As well as adding in all the master materia (excluding master summon). Clouds arsenal was greatly diminished compared to link.

A lot of Cloud's gear was not used in the first fight, and they are probably going to use the Dissidia version of the character, who scales to Feral Chaos and Shinryu Verus, who are Dimension Destroyers, making them at least Universal and potentially Multiversal level. Simply put, Cloud is going to have enormous Hax resistance, especially if he has a Ribbon, Master Magic Materia and Master Summon Materia. It's flat out DONE at that point.

Another thing Link is capable of is reflecting energy based attacks with his shield. There are statements in botw that say Link reflected a guardian laser with a pot lid. The gameplay in botw backs this up by parrying a Guardian's laser you reflect it back at it. This could give Link a slight edge in forcing Cloud to not be able to use any kind of ranged attack if Link reacts in time he could simply parry and reflect the attack back at Cloud forcing cloud to have to get up close while Link tries to keep at a distance until it's time to strike.

Was hoping for Cloud to fight Sol Badguy with Link having a battle royale between the different incarnations, but I'll be hopeful this'll be good. But yeah, I don't think DB and the research team are gonna go all in with the big stat shit for Link. A lot of the super big shit people try going for Link like universal/multiversal tends to be kinda shaky, like Wind fish shit especially so. Also if they wanted, you could get Cloud to those levels with Dissidia, I hear. Regardless, I'm going with Cloud, he's generally got a bigger stat advantage and can hax the fuck out of Link. Also, I really hope they actually use summon materia, considering that Cloud straight up says that its his favorite materia. Also for Link's speed, I'd say there's a very solid argument for him to get relat-lightspeed considering that there is laser dodging in BOTW, which gives consistency from what they've used before from Ganon vs Drac

I mean Cloud having multiple weapons and the Fusion Sword would fit. Link in Breath of the Wild has a vast arsenal of weaponry alone from Swords, Spears, Bladed Bommerangs, Great-Swords, bows with even more elemental arrows. That's not even getting into the powers the Sheikah Slate gives including bombs, Magnets, temperature control of water and object time-stopping which leads to turning any tree, boulder, building-piece or otherwise into a huge projectile. Also the powers granted to him via the Champions of Hyrule, if allowed, would shake things up as it includes Shielding and a Revival. Breath of the Wild is probably gonna throw wayy too much in there. Hell the DLC gave Link a fucking motorcycle which is Cloud's iconic form of transport so the fight might realistically have Motorcycle Jousting.

The big issue with a Composite Link is that there is so much in terms of equipment, abilities, and transformations that can be pulled from that, in certain combinations, could result in drastically different fights; Medallions, Flurry Rush/Bullet Time, Champion Gifts, the Minish Cap, the armory of masks(Giant, Goron, Fierce Deity, ect), Epona/Master Cycle, and the Magic Armor. Honestly, as much of a Link fan as i am, and i admit i have a bias, i do feel that Cloud will win and should have won the original, and was robbed because he wasnt allowed to be at his peak, where as Link doesnt have a definitive peak anywhere close to Cloud's unless he is a true Composite and has access to literally everything the various Links have had throughout the years.

My first Smash Bros Main vs. My second Dmash Bros Main... I'm 100% rooting for Cloud. I imagine that will use the current iterations of each, BotW Link, and FF7R Cloud. Both have considerable physical strength and powerful (and flexible) arsenals. Technically, even the Buster Sword, with no materia assistance, can slice through an industrial train with ease (likely easily able to cleave through the Hylian shield). Cloud is also a genetic Super Soldier. Cloud can obtain a great resistance to every magical element if well equipped (rendering most, if not all, arrow types useless). Cloud is also much faster than Link. I'm honestly not sure what advantages Link may have.

The only way they should use more than 1 game, is if either 1) it's the same exact link between the games. I.E. Honestly, I don't really care for Link vs. Cloud. I've never played Zelda or Final Fantasy. I'm just hoping one day we get Dante Vs. Kratos as an actual Death Battle.

Its not a "supernova" because the planet and its atmosphere is entirely unaffected. Its also hilarious because that whole idea makes meteor and the whole storyline completely redundant. Are we going with Link being able to survive literally anything because Fairys and Mipha's Grace are a thing? Is the Sheikah Slate a thing? There's a lot of potentially broken mechanics.

It's seems Noct, Light and Squall are the most likely future FF reps in DB (that are not from VII) with Bahamut being the most popular composite rep. Personally I kinda want to see Golbez Vs Darth Vader but I know the chances of that happening are next to zero especially since Anakin Vs Terra (KH) is gaining some traction in the Vs community.
