It should be noted that very often the fans of Némophila are the same as for Lovebites and for me Némophila is the only group, currently, which bears the comparison, instrument by instrument including the singer, with Lovebites. As for Tamu, she is one of the best drummers on this planet.

I add Band-Maid and Hanabie to the list. Akane on the drums is also top notch, as is Haruna. Hanabie are maybe not on the same technic level, but damn their shows are awesome. Have seen them live in Frankfurt this year. And it was one of the best damn shows I've attended the last 34 years!

I only knew the music video of this, and found already that amazing. Now Tamu's skills in this live show recording just _melted_ my face and made me so happy to have the privilege to experience her drumming in an even more impressive way. What an awesome lady. It was like a revelation to me. What a band. What a privilege to know them and to have their music. The sun is rising in the East - as in nature, so in Metal. Iron Maiden, Lovebites and Nemophila now shape my personal Metal heaven.

I am 62 and have been a massive Iron maiden fan since I started listening to them in the early 1980s. I discovered Nemophila with the video for their cover of Aces High and I became an immediate fan. The members of Nemophilsa, both through their originals and their many covers, show respect to old school metal and rock. I saw them live in Dallas this past March and they put on a fantastic show. I was very close to the stage right in front of Saki (close enough that we high fived each other at the end of the show, which was very cool). Oiran is one of their earliest original songs and it was one of my highlights of the show. I have to admit that Saki's backbend during the song is one of the sexiest things I have ever seen. I have no doubt that she is very aware of how sexy it is. I hope they return to Texas next year or 2025.

You said it all i agree completely .The two Tamu and Hara-san drum and bass are so good in Nemophila it all comes from them there are no week links . Being around for all the metal bands from Sabbath till now , these ladies have taken all the good bits and melted it all into super metal and put it on stage live in a big way just awoke Metal from its slumber .

Excellent review; and radio voice (LOL). I’m a 60 year old and grew up with metal, but slowly and perhaps sadly drifted away. That is I drifted until I found Nemophila. That snapped me straight back into the genre for all the reasons you highlighted. Addicted to this band. ❤️🌸

Infectious Grooves is a great comp because like Nemophila they were a bunch of professional musicians whinjust happened to love playing music without being pigeon holed in a genre. For example Tamu hosted a drum based program on KZbin, toured Asia giving clinics on drumming and has been a Tama endorsed musician for years. Before Nemophila she was one of the most sought out session drummers in Tokyo, playing on projects ranging from Jazz, Pop, Prog and Rock. She's classically trained on the piano and also plays sax, bass and guitar. All the ladies of Nemophila were accomplished musicians before forming the band. Hazuki is an Ibanez endorsed technical wizard whos prowess is showcased in other bands like Disqualia, Lisa-X Band, KOIA and many support projects. You can really see her technical side shine in her Ibanez promo videos where she shows her Vai/Satriani like chops. Saki has been a major player in the Japanese metal/guitar scene for over a decade, is a "big sister" role model to a lot of young female Japanese shredders and is the only musician with a Killer brand signature guitar. Killer was co-created by Akira Takasaki of Loudness and distributed by ESP. The name comes from a play on the Japanese pronunciation of "L" where it comes out sounding like "R" so "killer" comes out aounding like "kirra" which becomes a play on his name (A)kira. Haraguchi-san is an extremely versatile song writer, showcased in songs like "Hypnosis", "Style" and "Zen". The ladies of Nemophila are like Lovebites in the way that they all are professionally trained musicians who just happen to enjoy playing metal.

I am an old-school metalhead. The first thing I saw from them was their cover of "The Trooper." It intrigued me. Then, when I saw this, their first original song, I knew that modern metal could still be good. They made me believe in metal again. I saw them live in March. I flew halfway across the country to do it. It was worth it. I stood right in front of the soundboard. The drummer, Tamu Murata, is a highly-respected drummer in Japan, and she can play many different styles, so she has been a sought-after session drummer. She also plays other instruments and she's a damn good singer, too. Oh, and she's a mother to two young children. Please breakdown their song "Adabana."

This live was recently released, but the song is their first ever single released in 2020, and was included on their first album, Revive, the next year. Wow is right, Saki and Hazuki can shreeeeedddd. 🤘🤘. That drummer is Tamu Murata. She has been a , very sought after, session drummer. Hariguchi-san's bass doesn't get mentioned as often, but is just as essential. Love Mayu's screams, cleans are great too. For more from them, try Dissension, Revive, Raitei, or Adabana.

If you go to their concerts in Japan you will notice that the crowd has a lot of guys with bits of grey in their hair. They certainly have grabbed all the lost souls of metal/rock from the 90's who were searching for their holy grail that seemed to have been lost for them. Now they have been given a new lease of life when they found these ladies.

No weak links in this band. Vocals: Mayu Guitar (on our right): SAKI Guitar (on our left): Hazuki Bass: Haraguchi-san (informally, Hara-chan) Drums: Tamu The only thing missing from Nemophila is bad songs.

Their originals are where it's at. The covers are a brilliant way to have some fun and get rock fans to notice them. But their original music is where the ass kicking happens. Especially live. They're legit.

Saw these amazing ladies back in March in NYC and Eric I have to say I have not felt so beat up from the music at a show in years. It was powerful and funky and melodic but overall it was punishing physically. I think they took a page out of the Spinal Tap book and had all the amps cranked up to 11. I loved every minute of it. Also I had the pleasure last year to interview Mayu and Saki and they were so amazingly humble and soft spoken. But give Mayu a mic and Saki a guitar and watch out! Loved the reaction, more Nemophila please.

I was there for all of those, and I’m so glad NEMPHILA have come along to carry the flag forward. Take a minute to learn what an OIRAN is. Then watch the video they made in their tiny studio during the pandemic for the demo version of the song. It’s priceless. SAKI and HAZUKI create extremely interesting and melodic breakdowns, even as the band play in a variety of styles. Try MONSTERS, RAITEI, and LIFE and you’ll see what I mean. Oh yeah, and ADABANA. It’s a masterpiece.
