He's still alive in the KoF universe but for Fatal Fury, they claim him dead and seem to be sticking by it. If they likely make him along with Geese into a legacy character then I'll take it. Honestly with how Capcom couldn't wait a couple more games for Bison's Psycho power immortality to pay off and if Namco would let Heihachi die in the story and just made him a legacy, I probably wouldn't be as hard on Geese or Krauser come back.

It feels like it would take so much spotlight away from Hokutomaru and Preecha to immediately have Andy and Joe too. The whole idea with MOTW in the first place was the new generation. I think one of the MOTW storylines we've waited the longest for without resolution is Marco and Yamazaki. He should absolutely be in. And it feels like such a strange sideplot to have exist that Blue Mary and Kevin are related without ever making anything of it. And at some point, we have to have Gato's dad! Duck King has been one of the most requested fighters for KOF over several polls; this is a perfect spot to bring him in. They somewhat recently made Real Bout 2 canon, so what other value is there in doing that besides bringing someone like Rick Strowd back? And for as powerful a figure as Krauser is, we really have not revisited him enough in the last 20 years, and the story still revolving around the Howard family should give more than enough reason to touch on his legacy, if even only through his henchman. I also think there's a great necessity in COTW (and KOF) to have more off the wall picks with unique playstyles. Give us Cheng! It at least seems like we're getting all the reveals for S1 relatively soon, but I imagine planning is already underway for S2!

If there's one thing I'm interested in seeing them possibly doing is probably highlight and establish a potential relationship between Rock and Hotaru. According to her profile, one of her likes is Rock for trying to help her and in like her appearances in KOF XI or Neo Geo Battle Colosseum, her interactions with him suggest that the two seem to indicate that they know each other at some point. With this RPG mode possibly being like SF6 World Tour, I hope they highlight that detail because it would give some more dichotomy between the cast. Edit: For the record, I am kind of a shipper of the two, but if SNK won't make them a couple I won't lose sleep over it. But I still would like to see those interactions actually canon because it makes them feel like actual people than just fighters.

@@beethovenlivesupstairs4182 MOTW was in the same situation as SF3. Can't have zero reps from the series and alienate the fans more than the gameplay changes already had. Terry is the poster boy and has the most ties and his connection helps bridge Rock between him and Geese. We already know how Andy and Hok are connected, and it does not seem at least so far to be anything deep with Joe and Preecha. They certainly can be in this eventually, but they need to push forward too. We don't even have several of the FF characters from the past that are connected with Andy and Joe. Not saying it would be terrible if they're there, but with the limited roster at the moment it feels like there's a much bigger opportunity to bring back others that haven't been in most every KOF title the past 20 years.

To me what SNK is planning for COTW is a "new generation" theme that is no longer just like MOTW but it's more like the Majin Buu arc in DBZ... in the sense that both generations are involved in the action. The point about MOTW is that its bold idea of replacing the veteran roster is very risky (and actually ruined every other game like SF3, AOF3, SC5, etc), so this time it might be better to avoid the same risks from before.

The one character I have been waiting for, for over 20 years, is Freeman, it is sad to see SNK and most fans disregard him, despite him being such a distinctive (and amazing) character. Another character deserving to be included in COtW is definetely Yamazaki.

I'm not sure if that's the case literally, or it's just the fact that Freeman is not a poster boy kind of character. The MOTW timeline of FF is represented normally by Rock, Hotaru, B Jenet and Gato. But the fact those poster boys and girls exist doesn't make everyone else abandoned or forgotten. There's no space for everyone in that privileged rank. And every franchise is like that.

I think the only suspense here is whether Blue Mary will be first season DLC or second season. I think Jae Hoon, Kain, Hokutomaru, Freeman, Andy and Joe are locks for 6 of the 7 remaining spots. Oh, and whatever the Ronaldo stuff amounts to, that's the other mystery. But if even Kevin made the cut I think it's safe to assume that the entire Garou cast is returning, with Vox subbing in for Grant. They can't very well say they're finishing the Garou story without the Garou characters.

I mean, if they’re bringing all the MOTW roster (sans Grant), then 4 of them have to be Kim Hoon, Hokotumaru, Freeman and Kain. I honestly think Joe and Andy will be DLC along with Ken and Chun Li. If you think about it, Joe and Andy have more appeal to sell, than Jae Hoon and Hokotumaru. Leave the lesser popular characters for the base roster, and the more popular ones for DLC. The last DLC character has to be Geese. But again, you’d run out of popular characters for future season passes.

Has there even been an official explanation as to how Rock can use Geese's techniques when he's never met his father or trained with him? And, if you're going to say that Terry taught them to Rock, why doesn't he incorporate some of it into his own fighting style since he already uses a mix of different styles & techniques? At least with Jin in Tekken, we know that he trained with Heihachi & Jun so that's why he can use both Mishima & Kazama style karate. Sakura in Street Fighter mimics Ryu so that's why she can do similar moves to him. Did Rock somehow watch old videos of Geese fighting or something?

Originally the cancelled 2D sequel GMOTW2 had Mr Karate 2 Ryo Sakazaki as the last boss. There's even photos of this online. More than any other character I'd like to see him return as the last secret boss. Like in FF Special.

Repeating Mai's new outfit is "way better" than her traditional one is unnecessary and sounds like virtue signaling. :-/ That said and talking about girls, I hope more female characters are included in the base roster and as DLC. Garou was an awesome game but it had like 6 males for every female.

I think it has more to do with we see her original outfit all the damn time. I just hope they do something interesting with her as a character so I don't see her as just eye candy for pervs as she chases down Andy for the 1000th time. That's all that's ever been done with her and I want to like her. If they have done something with her character in the past it most likely wasn't much.

Fatal Fury has probably the lowest female to male ratio of all fighting games, excluding some old console one-offs that had no women at all. It took 8 games for Fatal Fury to match the number of women Art of Fighting had in just 3 games, and AoF wasn't exactly selling itself on sex appeal. (Imagine the whining we'd hear from the loony bin that sees politics in every female character design if King, Kasumi, Sinclair and Lenny were new designs in 2025. They'd lose their damn minds.)

After seeing the arcade mode story for Mai in sf6. I now want Juri to make the jump to COTW. Juri is looking like the NEW rival to Mai as shown in the sf6 arcade mode. So i hope for season 2 we get Juri to make the jump to COTW. Even though Ken and Chun are good choices. It still weird not seeing Ryu representing SF especially in an SNK game since Ryu always represented SF in the VS series and CvS games. But besides that for Fatal Fury originals, i would love to see Duck King, Blue Mary, Krauser and Lawrence make it in COTW.
