EX2 is easily up there with SFA3 as my favorite fighters on the GBA. It still impresses me to this day just how close they came to replicating the look and feel of KOF 2K on such limited hardware. I had started to assume that my mind were simply playing tricks on me due to nostalgia, but the game really is just as exceptional as I remember.

I Iike the GBA games. I emulate them from time to time and for how limited the games are, they’re fun for a half hour session. The one bad thing for me that this spin off produced, was Gustab Munchansen. He’s the NPC that manipulates the events of KOFEX2. But mugen users obsessed with his appearance and made him a super OP boss. He’s super overrated by the community. Despite the game never saying if he even is a fighter.

I have that Neo Geo Bluetooth controller from 8bitdo. Ironically, none of the Neo Geo games proper work with that thing. But the GBA KOF games are perfectly compatible with that controller. So it's such a different feeling playing the GBA KOF games with the clicky controller.

I played EX2 as a kid, and I always loved the new characters like Moe, Renji, and Miu. The alternate timeline about other Sacred Treasures was really intetesting, too. Glad to finally see someone on KZbin talk about it. Good job!

Thank you for making this video. I rarely see people talking about the kof ex series. I spent a lot of time playing these games during travels, and it's also what brought me back to kof games. Even if the odds are low, I really hope SNK re-release these games someday with bug fixes for Neo blood and new features for both games.

I had EX2 back in the day. It look and played amazing for a gameboy advance game. I loved having a KOF game this close to the Neogeo games on a portable system.

I love most GBA fighters. I only wish this arc was canonically occurring at the same time as Nest so fighters like Geese, Jun, Miu, Reiji and Moe could've appeared in one of the games or at least in 2002.

I like the ex2 original characters but man do their sprites look out of place next to the main cast. I'd like to see them come back potentially but seeing Jun's sprite idle animations next to iori is like he recruited a guest character from a different game

moe habana, reiji, jun and miu need to be in kof 16 the very least but in the base roster not dlc. moe would join benimaru and daimon in their team while chizuru and reiji would be in another team and shingo joins them. miu and jun would team up with dolores to form a rival team to the team that comprises of nadj and mignon and an unnamed female pink/magenta/lilac/peach/rose flame welding fighter. both of these games came out for GBA, but i wish the n64 or the saturn had a game that was set between the 2000 and 2001 editions with these characters. if there is a 4 on 4 format in a future kof entry kof EX2: howling blood's striker system could be integrated to work in tandem with kof 2001's striker system.

Awesome Documentary of Kof Ex GBA i love this game for ports of 99 to Ex and 2000 to Ex2. This is developed by Marvelous who work some many games like KHR for Console and Handheld and as well the Senran and others. I wish Moe and Reiji will join in KOF Console in the future.

I remember an article about an interview with SNK hire Akeshino... Akeshiro? He said something in an interview that his fellow higher-ups in SNK would rather bring back the Maximum Impact OCs than bother with the Marvelous-made OCs.

EX2 is quite possibly the most impressive fighting game on GBA, and it makes me wish the handheld had way more fighting games, but like, designed specifically for it, or at least a better version of Guilty Gear X, cuz it could do so much better than the version it got...

Unpopular opinion - I thought the original characters were rubbish and embodied a direction the mainline KoF would continue: little kids, frail teenage girls, & moody high schoolers. '94 was like a mashup where they took the biggest, baddest, or most popular characters from different games to see who would win in a fight. Same for '95 & '96 even had the boss team, which is a team of complete badasses. By '99 we start getting goofy/comedy shit like Bao and by '03 we get kids with yo-yos and little girls in a school uniform fighting like a sumo. That stuff has a place but not in a franchise like KoF. If you like those character types then by all means enjoy yourself but they have zero appeal to me.

Years back. I've actually found my copy of Neo Blood on the pavement one rainy day. It still worked, sort of. And I had to fight like hell on eBay for the sequel. Eventually I've sold both, and bought both again. The late nights I've spent playing while the TV was on (multitasking). Great times.
